Some scary stuff.

[QUOTE]Five people were shot on a Harlem basketball court Wednesday night during an annual basketball tournament, officials and witnesses said.

Gunfire erupted around 10 p.m. at the Holcombe Rucker Park court on Frederick Douglass Boulevard near W. 155th St. after a dispute during a game for the Entertainers Basketball Classic, witnesses said.

"They started arguing, about a bad call or something like that," said Rodney Harris, 47. "The guy was standing no more than five feet away from me. He pulled a gun out of his pocket and shot once. He then shot one more time. Everyone started running."

I haven't been in years but that was the first thing I thought. Ever since the shooting in '96 NYPD sat down with EBC staff to specifically keep this sort of thing from happening.

Shows what you know, New York has some of the strictest gun laws in the country yet annually in highest in gun violence. Ditto other Northern areas like DC, Philly, and especially Chicago. Meanwhile, here in Texas or Oklahoma I can damn near buy a gun at the gas station and our gun crime stats don't even compare.

yeah.... police commish said that ebc decided the past few years to use "private security"

if he's telling the truth, then we know what that means...they had a security budget and somebody put the money in their pocket, and now they have a lot of explaining to do.

==================
reading the comments...not surprised anymore and respect the honesty, actually....if people who didn't look like me were getting shot I wouldn't joke about it though, I'd just ignore the story.

people can't help what their nature is though.

You can't let these thugs ruin the rights of us law abiding citizens. How about a written test to get a firearm's license.

oh wait, someone who is willing to murder another person is probably also willing to break a gun law :facepalm

you already can't get a pistol legally in NYC anyways. Look how much that helps
