So, Dwight hasn't been traded yet, and the Rockets organization looks like a power forward generator threw up all over the roster. With these items withstanding, I'm going out on a limb to make season predictions based on where rosters stand today. I'll make explanations where I think they may be necessary. So no need to read the first set of predictions below and reply, 'no way dwight stays in orl - smfh at op"

I'm happy to take avatar bets on my predictions. I won't get into predicting playoffs, that's a different story altogether.

I don't think Nash gets in - I don't think he'll have the stats. I forgot about Deron Williams, but he will have a well-rounded team, while I see Wall putting up big stats and really improving this season on a team defunct of any legitimate all-star candidate

I agree. But team success will play a part in Wall making the team over him. I really think he's going to turn the corner this season - and I am not a Wall fan at all.

He does have a better supporting cast. I guess this season we get to see if this kid can really be the centerpiece of a winning team. Beal, Nene, Ariza, Okafor, etc. Not bad pieces to work with now that they got rid of all those other retards.

He has a lot of defenders and athletes to work with, and potentially a potent backcourt mate, if Beal ever finds his jumpshot.

I'm interested to see their starting lineup, I imagine it'll be:
CT: Okafor/ Seraphin
PF: Nene/ Vesely/ Booker
SF: Ariza/ C. Singleton/ Martin
SG: Beal/ Crawford/ Satoransky
PG: Wall/ Price/ Mack

It looks pretty nice, they could do with a veteran bigman to mentor them

Utah didn't make any improvements? Are you serious? Utah sports a frontcourt rotation of Millsap, Favors, Jefferson, and Kanter that was killing teams by the end of last season. The jazz got exposed in the playoffs for a lack of outside shooting, which meant teams could pack the paint to neutralize utah's imposing bigs. To address that, the jazz went out and got Mo Williams, Marvin Williams, and Randy Foye, all of which shoot the three better than our best three point shooter last year and who made more threes combined last year than the entire jazz team. Add to that the fact that all three play good defense and the jazz didn't lose anyone that mattered to get them and you have a pretty good offseason.

This team is getting slept on but shouldn't be. They are deep with long, athletic players and most of them can play multiple positions. The only player expected to be on the roster by the start of the season whose offensive production per possessions was below league average last year is Earl Watson. Jazz are going to be really good offensively, and should be much improved defensively as well.

Dismiss them at your own risk...

76ers will be there 4th or 5th seed in my opinion. They got rid of Lou and drafted and brought in more bigs. With Lou out Evan Turner can probably break out even more. I still remember how on fire he was a month or 2 before the playoffs it was amazing. They have a very very good rookie in Moe Harkless but I may be a little biased on him having watched a lot of his College games.

Plus Doug Collins is a really good coach he wont let them miss the playoffs

Wade isn't even on a team over here.

This might be a stretch on my part, but if he doesn't come back strong next year, he might not make a team. If he's injured for a long stretch, then he doesn't make one clearly.

I could see some guards surpassing him, but were going to have to see.

Lakers had one more win than the grizz last year. Yes they got Nash, but hes friggin 38 and their bench is still shit. Now i think that the lakers will finish better, but it will only be by 4 games or so. And the grizz could easily finish better. Lakers are old. Grizz are young, and hungry. We finished one game behind the lakers despite Arthur missing the whole season and Zbo missing half the season and never getting back to %100. Not to mention Gay was reintegrated back into the team after his season ending shoulder injury in 2011. Keep sleeping.

Why are you bringing up the playoffs ?

Were talking about the regular season awards. The reason Wade was on the 3rd team was his injuries and the reason he will return to that team or not on any team is if he continues to be injury prone next year.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Raptors snuck into the playoffs.

Got a better bench, rookies look promising, team of young but hungry players, and coach Casey will now be accustomed properly with his players and a full-training camp too.

I'm excited for the season to start.

Lowry
Derozan
Ross

Will this be the starting lineup? Not bad

My EC prediction:

Heat
Celtics
Knicks
Pacers
Nets
Bulls
Sixers
Raptors/Hawks

Nets will replace Magic. 1 of Raptors/Hawks will make it to the playoffs as 8th seed!

Yes, an injured and mostly-resting Wade that had one of the best performances in the Playoffs out of anyone. But you're a Wade hater, so no point in arguing with you. :facepalm

A healthy Wade? 25/5/5 on 50%.

I don't think so. He's going to get limited minutes and he'll split a lot of time with Allen. They want to rest Wade as much as possible so he's not injured again come playoff time.

He put those numbers up in 2010/2011 with minimal minutes as well, so we'll see.

Seriously. The two were easily the best players in the NBA during the 2011 Finals, just a year ago. Oh how much a shortened, and locked out season where literally everyone was hurt brought down Dirk and Wade. :facepalm

You two sound like two homos. Gettin upset cuz a guy didn't put your favorite players high enough. Those two guys are past their primes. I agree completely. Wade at best will get 3rd team and dirk might get 3rd team but I think e won't make it either

marcus camby's knee falls off
felton takes a lot of dumb shots and melo yells at him

Wah, Wah, Wah. What a *****. Man up, there are plenty more crappy players like Wade to like out there - you could be a fan of Rodney Stuckey, pretty much the same player.

No. Just... NO. D-Wade could literally be playing on one leg and still be a better player than Stuckey.

I understand some people questioning whether or not D-Wade may be declining, but acting like it's a 100% sure thing that he is declining and/or acting as if he's washed up are pretty ridiculous to me. He could easily bounce back and put up 25/5/5, he's that type of player. You don't forget how to play basketball, if he's back at 100% and the injury didn't cause him to lose too much of his athleticism, he'll be back looking like a Top 5 player.

MVP: LeBron James
Other candidates: Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant

I personally think Nash and Kobe will work great together and it will help Kobe, same stats as last year (unless they get Dwight) except on better FG% from playing with Nash. Still think LeBron and Durant over him though. LeBron doesn't even need to have an MVP type season to get MVP at this point.

DPOY: Serge Ibaka
Other candidates: Tyson Chandler, Dwight Howard

The NBA is dying to give this to LeBron and I wouldn't be shocked if he got it but he's not a DPOY type of player, great defender but not DPOY (If Durant gets MVP, guarantee the NBA gift wraps LeBron DPOY, won't let him not win an Award). I think there is a chance that Dwight will have a down year coming off of back surgery so I'm going with Ibaka.

ROY: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
Other candidates: Harrison Barnes, Bradley Beal, Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, Jonas Valanaciunus, Thomas Robinson

This is a tough call, there are a bunch of players that could win it (5-8 guys I think could have a chance, best Draft Class since 2003 IMO). But I think MKG is going to put up strong numbers and improve the Bobcats quite a bit (they'll still be terrible but I think they'll be slightly surprising, because of him).

Sixth Man: Ray Allen
Other candidates: James Harden, Jason Terry

Most Improved Player: O.J. Mayo
Other candidates: John Wall

All NBA Team 1:

F: Kevin Durant
F: LeBron James
G: Kobe Bryant
G: Chris Paul

All NBA Team 2:

F: Kevin Love
F: Carmelo Anthony
G: Dwyane Wade
G: Russell Westbrook

All NBA Team 3:
C: Roy Hibbert
F: Blake Griffin (LaMarcus Aldridge will deserve this spot, not as popular though)
F: Amare Stoudemire (I'm calling a bounce back year for him, better passers on the Knicks this year, working with Hakeem on his post game)
G: Deron Williams
G: Rajon Rondo

All D Team 1:
C: Dwight Howard
F: Serge Ibaka
F: LeBron James
G: Andre Iguodala (Probably gets snubbed even though he's the best perimeter defender in the game but I'm putting him here anyway)
G: Tony Allen

9] Hawks
10] Bucks
11] Pistons
12] Raptors
13] Cavs
14] Bobcats
15] Magic (They're getting raped in the Dwight trade no matter what based on all the offers we've seen reported)

West:
1] Thunder
2] Lakers
3] Spurs
4] Clippers
5] Mavs
6] Grizzlies
7] Nuggets
8] Wolves
----------------
9] Blazers
10] Warriors (If healthy)
11] Jazz
12] Suns
13] Kings
14] Rockets
15] Hornets

If the Lakers get Dwight, which is still what I expect to happen before the season starts, then they become the strong favorites in the West, #1 Seed. Without Dwight I'd still take the Thunder to return to the Finals in a rematch with the Heat. Heat in 6, LeBron Finals MVP.

My prediction: 1) The Nets will get to the ECF provided the roster remains healthy.

2) Then they beat the Heat because nobody will stop Brook Lopez from scoring 30-40 a game like he did to Brendan Haywood.

3) Then they play the Thunder in the Finals and Deron and Joe are too much to handle and win the championship!
Then I dance around for a long time.

Now that rosters (well, GSW is all i waited for) are pretty much set, I feel like solidifying my predictions.

East
1. Miami
2. Indiana
3. New York
4. Boston
5. Milwaukee
6. Philadelphia
7. Washington
8. Toronto
-----------
Brooklyn
Cleveland

West
1. OKC
2. LAL
3. Memphis
4. San Antonio
5. LAC
6. Utah
7. Denver
8. GSW
-----------
Dallas
Minnesota

biggest surprise team: tie - Toronto and Milwaukee (really solid rosters in an up-for-grabs 3rd-tier East group)
most disappointing team: Brooklyn. One of the worst teams in the league adds an overrated Joe Johnson, get back a 18/7 center and lose a ton of bench depth. Not sure why ppl suddenly deem them as a shoe-in for the playoffs.

miscellany
- Chicago hovers around the 7~9 spot until Rose gets back, but he won't be the same as before and they decide to rest him/tank.
- One of the better ROY races in recent memory. MKG, TRob, Lillard, and the 2 2011 draft Lithuanians will have the biggest impact on their teams, but Beal or Anthony Davis will win ROY due to sexiness of stats. Wroten from Memphis will also be up there in contribution.
- The East will hold the 4 worst records in the league.
- A former player wins Coach of the Year - I'm thinking Skiles (Mil) or Hollins (Mem). But would love to see Corbin (Utah) or Jackson (GSW).
- GSW upset OKC in 1st rnd of playoffs
