I'm in the market for some new music, so I have a challenge for my fellow ISHers. Post 3 songs from a single artist that you find to be AMAZING, must listen to/can't miss songs.

For me it's Gang Starr with:

Red Hot Chili Peppers... the greatest band ever. It is the only band where I literally like almost every song they've ever done. I randomly picked 3 of their songs that are pretty popular.

Californication (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlUKcNNmywk)

Can't Stop (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfOdWSiyWoc)

Those are great pics from the Gang Starr duo. I'd personally replace You Know My Steez (even though I love that track beyond comprehension) with Robinhood Theory. Mass Appeal is IMO, one of the best produced tracks of all time. So simple, yet so astonishing. Nothing really compares.

I'll pick an artist that no one else probably would think of going with: Fat Joe

Fat Joe: Find Out (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43NSRlIDQTE) - this is the best Fat Joe song no one really knows about. It's really one of the best "most hidden" "unknown" or however you want to describe it songs floating around out there just waiting to be listened to and newly adored by rap fans who never knew.

Fat Joe: Shit Is Real Premier Remix (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLVD3uMTX7I) IMO, one of raps best produced tracks. Fat Joe delivers a classic. This is vintage Joe before his commercial flip flop post mid 90's.

Fat Joe: Gangsta (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7kZy_3KbKE) Another highly under the radar highly underrated track no one really knows about. This is raw from any and all aspects of how you put a dope banger together. It's too bad Fat Joe's real gems never really see the light of day.

Dr. Dooom - Apartment 223 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rr9tEqlqbtE) released 1999

If I were to pick some Mos Def shit - I'd go with:

Mos Def - Boogieman (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hy1SSlrznOc) Dark and beautiful

Mos Def - Hip Hop (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rMk2Oe0fik) easily a top Mos Def selection, top rap selection, period.

Mos Def - Brooklyn (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCuTYVulOzY) too dope to ignore.

I wanted to list "Climb" too, Black On Both Sides is really a classic by most measures... it's really sad how his career fell off so hard. His releases post BOBS is honestly saddening.

Nas

- Memory Lane

- Nas is like

- New York State of Mind

:coleman:

I'd go with a couple of jams that aren't so popular but are almost as dope as most commonly accepted Nas "classics" ...

something like say:

Small World
Hero (yes, it's a single, but got VERY little radio play and was dope as shit)
Revolutionary Warfare

No need to really copy and paste the links... I would image most of you guys know Small World and hopefully Hero (which I wouldn't doubt maybe a lot of people have missed them, or can't "recall") ... and esp. Revolutionary Warfare, which I've heard some critics claim it's a terrible track on a good album (God's Son) ... and I just don't understand the logic behind that.

Is it's Lake's verse? "snatch up ya kid from chuckie cheese, and feed him to the rats in the back of the P'z" LOL ... that's dope, actually. Lake is one of the rap game's most underrated and under-appreciated rappers out there.

:biggums: Hero is a pop song and is a black mark on the great legacy of Nas.

Everyone labels "Hero" on some pop shit, and I can't dispute, but it's not like it's some knockout career making hit ... it was a flop, compared to most bc they didn't feel it. I thought it was actually a great track. IMO, of course.
