Kobe is a volume scorer, who needs the ball to get into the flow.....unless he starts off hot, going to be hard for him to look outstanding when he's playing with other guys who need the ball to get going. I imagine its hard for him to get into a rhythm offensively. Not a big deal imo.

Clove21

I think everyone gets too caught up on the Lebron vs Kobe debate to actually take a second and put everything in perspective.

Its obvious that Lebron is currently better. However, a year or two ago it wasn't such an enormous advantage. And it was something you could still seriously discuss.

And that's the craziest thing to me. Kobe has held up well enough that we can compare him, in his 14th/15th season, to one of the all time greats (Lebron) in the absolute prime of his career.

Kobe still has enough that he can look like a legend for a quarter at a time. He just doesn't have enough in the tank anymore to do that for a full game anymore.

Once Kobe retires we will be able to look at his full career and talent. Right now its too difficult for people to see past the way "old Kobe" plays and not see his full career.

I find it really sad that anyone on the USA team even has to save the day. They should be blowing teams out by 30-40 points if they're as good as people say they is. It's not on one player or one duo, it's on the team. Or at least it should be.

I gotta say, he's looked every bit his age in these games. It's going to be interesting to see him play with Nash. Kobe's going to need to become a better spot up shooter and take smarter shots. The Lakers' strength really is going to be Nash feeding Gasol and Bynum. Kobe can still be the #1 option at the ends of games, but he'll need to take a step back ala Paul Pierce in Boston.

Why, mate? Steve Nash is a much better shooter, and if feeding Bynum and Gasol is more effective for 46 minutes why would Kobe forcing bricks be better in the last two? Are you afraid to just say they dont need him? Mate, are you intimidated by Kobe Bryant? Should the coach be? I guess all these blokes are right about Kobe as an alpha male mate because look at all these betas that walk on bloody egg shells talkin about him.

Hes way overrated, hes clearly past his prime, hes not a top 10 player all time or currently, and Nash, Bynum, Gasol, and even Artest (defense) dont actually need him in order to dominate, all he does is risk screwin it up.

Little early for the revisionist history. :oldlol:

[QUOTE]Third, for most of the Games, Team USA had an alpha dog issue. Was this Kobe's team or LeBron's? Fast-forward to 8:13 left: Fern

Lmao.

Anyway, I hope Kobe does the same against us, idiot cost us a freaking gold.I just hope it's Lebron and not Melo or Kobe, we have some nice rim protection at least.

Honestly, USA should just give the ball to Melo and let him do his thing.Best closer in the game and yet doesn't get to take the final shot in all star games , USA games nothing

Kryscewski carry on  please give us a gold

I guess the seeding stage doesn't matter in the world cup too :biggums: Every game since our first in the seedings matter

Have the Americans won 19 out of 24 World Cups?

24? and if there was should brazil/spain not take a game seriously against Denmark because it's the "seeding" round?

Actually, happened to us last World cup, lack of focus cost us a loss against Switzerland in the group stages.

Still won the tournament with ease

They should play hard out of respect to the Olympics. They just canned a couple of badminton players for not trying. But one things for sure they should avoid touting some mythology about a Spanish players performance against Denmark or else they are going to look really foolish.

The Spanish team only has relevance during international competitions. Same with the Americans. Who else would they play if not other countries? :oldlol:

But yeah this was Lebron's moment this time around against a much weaker team with nothing on the line.

You nailed me. I had to go back 4 years to make a point about the 08 Olympic team. You should be a lawyer when you grow up.

U.S was playing possum against Lithuania. It wasn't really a close game. They were just testing out their late game execution. In other words, Coach K pulled a Chuck Daly.

I'm not talking about the 08 team. I'm talking about the last Olympic game that "mattered". Kobe has played literally thousands of regular season games that mattered more than this one vs. Lithuania. If we want to know if 12 Kobe is saving himself for the games that matter we have to wait for the games that matter to actually begin. :confusedshrug:

Kobe did it on purpose.. He was tired of his teammates relying on him on clutch moment all the time.. Kobe will not forever be on the team.. So now is the time for him to teach his teammates not to rely on him in those situation and believe in themselves.. Kobe still thinking the future of team USA..

FutureBe

Not quite.

He decided to let Lebron be the man against Lithuania because:
1. Kobe knows he is sucking and if he tries playing hero ball, it will backfire and he will get blamed.
2. By giving the responsibility to Lebron, he accomplishes the following:
- If USA wins, he will get credit for being a team player
- If USA loses, Lebron will get the blame

It's a win win.

Smartbe.

kobe carried lebron in the gold medal game of 08 and made it possible for lebron not to have A THIRD failure on the international stage

and kobe played well in the 2012 olympic gold final... he had some huge shots and was 3rd in scoring
