View Full Version : Who has the best bench in the NBA?
I know everyone is going to say Denver, but I think it might be the Miami Heat at this point.
Norris Cole, Ray Allen, Shane Battier, Rashard Lewis, & Udonis Haslem is a very good 2nd unit that would be considered a Playoff team if guys like Allen & Shard were in their prime.

1. J Jones hardly got any minutes...because he literally can't do anything besides shoot a three pointer
2. Miller was decent this year, and showed up big at the right time in the Finals. So this is the only person you listed who i agree with.
3. This guy lost all confidence as the year went on and by playoff time he was just a mess. He had like two good playoff games in total lol (and Miami played in about 20-25 playoff games).
4. LOL. The only thing to respect about Howard is his knowledge of the game. He'll be a nice assistant coach next year.

OKC has arguably the best starting 5 in the entire NBA but the bench is middle of the pack or slightly above that. Harden and Collison are the only good, proven bench players they have next year. Nazi is gone and nobody knows how good Jones will actually be. If Jones is as good as some think he will be they can easily become an elite bench.

Pacers have an underrated bench and spent the offseason improving it as well.
Augustin
Stephenson/Johnson
Green

Mahimi/Plumlee
That's 3 borderline starters off the bench (Augustin, Green, Mahimi) with another who has starter potential in Stephenson.
The jury is still out on Plumlee & Johnson, but most opinions have been positive so far.

Denver Spurs Clippers are far better then anyone else. They have 2-3 guys that could be decent starters and a few good role players
Other teams like Heat OKC and Boston have a great bench player or 2 but arent very deep after that.

Boston has one hell of a bench this upcoming season. I am really happy with all of the moves we made in the offseason. Ray Allen alone gives Miami a top tier bench assuming Haslem, Miller are healthier this year. Miller supposedly has said he's significantly better physically after treatment this offseason. Joel Anthony is also a very good bench center.

Could be but still a few question marks before they can be called the best. Fab Melo's ceiling is a back up center, he still has many holes in his game and against popular belief, may not contribute from day 1.
Sullinger & Jason Terry are great pickups but people are getting a little to excited over Courtney Lee. I've seen him play and he is wildly inconsistent. There is a reason he has had 4 teams in 5 years.
Not trying to sound like a hater at all but they do still have some holes in their bench. Definitely top 5, but the jury is still out on whether their bench is the best.

I agree with most of this. I think most of us celtics fans expect Melo to give us 7-8 minutes in regular season with no playing time in playoffs. I think you are underrating Lee a bit. 10 ppg with very efficient shooting and great defense is a spectacular last minute pickup.

Well that's how most people consider someone a starter-level player when they're a bench player. If you'd be a starter for greater than 10% of the league, that's "starter-level"
Similar to how a few years ago, Gortat was a "starter-level" backup big.

but putting half their bench guys on there twice to make them look deep = :oldlol:
