View Full Version : Mates, nobody would take prime Kobe over prime Duncan, Lebron, Hakeem to win a chip

So mates why would anybody not out of their bloody mind rank Kobe higher as a player?
How many times have people watched Hakeem, Lebron, Duncan and gotten frustrated at what they're doing? Saying they're shooting too much? Saying "come on, you don't have it tonight, pass the ball!" How many games have those three taken their teams out of, mates??
Mates, in their primes, these players had such remarkable all-around impact on games that they literally carried otherwise so-so playoff teams to multiple finals and/or championship victories. Kobe Bryant has never, ever had the kind of impact that could come close to doing that whatsoever.
In the entire careers of all three combined, that being Lebron, Duncan, Hakeem, mates I think there was only one time anyone claimed they had a bad game that hurt the team, and it was Lebron in the finals two years ago.
With Kobe it's happened all the time, mates! Throughout his career he's had tons of awful games where he's at best neutral and at worst a liability that cost them the bloody game! Can you really claim a player like that is top 10 ever? Did Larry Bird ever make fans go 'oh no, not again!' Did Magic?
Mates, Kobe's supposed greatness rests on his ability as a scorer. Yet we always see the stat that when he shoots less, when he scores less, the team wins more.
Mates, Kobe in his prime had the ability to turnaround and elevate and shoot jumpers over guys and it looked really cool. He had the ability to pull up on a dime and drill shots, sometimes 10 in a row. He could even drop a windmill dunk now and again. Mates, those aren't skills that can be done consistently enough by anybody to dominate games in and out, and carry teams to championships. You have to be a monster in the paint, a forcefield on defense, a pillar the offense can run through, not stop at.
Mates, to suggest that Kobe Bean Bryant, who missed the playoffs in his prime and got knocked out in the first round twice, (three years consecutively, mates) is even remotely in the top 10 is madness. Can you picture that happening to anyone else in the top 10? Literally, can you picture Duncan or Lebron or Hakeem missing the playoffs entirely in their prime? And mates I haven't mentioned Shaq because hopefully nobody is schyoopid enough to actually suggest Kobe is better than Shaq, too.
I just thought I should share some sensibility with you, mates. I know it won't resonate with the Kobe supporters, but I feel like there are others who might feel pressed to elevate Kobe Bryant higher than they otherwise would based on team accomplishments. Don't get sucked into that rubbish mates. Kobe didn't win any championships by himself, and quite frankly, mates, he contributed less to the ones he did win than anyone else in the top 15. Don't bloody well fool yourselves mates. He's a terribly over rated player.

As I look back over his career, I realize that not only is Kobe vastly superior to Lebron offensively, he has ALWAYS been (and maybe still is), superior defensively. But what really sets them apart is their guts...their balls....their alpha-ness. Lebron is closer to a Gasol than Kobe, in that regard. That's why Lebron needed two other superstars, in their prime, to barely beat an old, gimpy Celtics team, on his way to his first championship.
Frankly, its absurd to compare Lebron to Kobe. Lebron is not in the same gym.
Of course, prime Lebron is probably better NOW than 33 year old Kobe.

Mate, Michael Jordan couldn't even make a bloody finals until he had a great team around him. How do we know he had a great team around him? Because without its best player they still won 55 games and were a game away from a conference finals birth!
Other players have taken teams farther with less than Michael did. Kobe and Michael are ESPN's pets because their styles of play have the most cache with the average bloke! Mate, in case you didn't know, the average bloke in your country is really, really stupid. You remember in the olden days what a medicine show is? You make a little stage and crowd a bunch of dummies around, and with a nice little show you can sell them anything! That's what ESPN does, and Kobe Bryant is the medicine, mate! He's easy to sell. As an impact player? Not top 15 by any stretch. Give me Isiah, Nash, Dirk and others. Consistency and efficiency. Not 81 points against the Raptors then shut down by Paul Pierce or the Miami Heat and making a spectacle of attention by shootin around in the bloody gym for an hour after the game. Pathetic, mate. A History of Pottery
The production of pottery is one of the most ancient arts. The oldest known body of pottery dates from the Jomon period (from about 10,500 to 400 BC) in Japan; and even the earliest Jomon ceramics exhibit a unique sophistication of technique and design. Excavations in the Near East have revealed that primitive fired-clay vessels were made there more than 8,000 years ago. Potters were working in Iran by about 5500 BC, and earthenware was probably being produced even earlier on the Iranian high plateau. Chinese potters had developed characteristic techniques by about 5000 BC. In the New World many pre-Columbian American cultures developed highly artistic pottery traditions.
After general sections on basic pottery types and decorating techniques this article focuses on the development of Western pottery since the beginning of the Renaissance. For detailed treatment of ancient Western and non-Western pottery, see Chinese art and architecture; Egypt, ancient; Greek art; Islamic art and architecture; Japanese art and architecture; Korean art; Mesopotamia; Minoan art; Persian art and architecture; pre-Columbian art and architecture.
TYPES OF WARES
Pottery comprises three distinctive types of wares. The first type, earthenware, has been made following virtually the same techniques since ancient times; only in the modern era has mass production brought changes in materials and methods. Earthenware is basically composed of clay--often blended clays--and baked hard, the degree of hardness depending on the intensity of the heat. After the invention of glazing, earthenwares were coated with glaze to render them waterproof; sometimes glaze was applied decoratively. It was found that, when fired at great heat, the clay body became nonporous. This second type of pottery, called stoneware, came to be preferred for domestic use.
The third type of pottery is a Chinese invention that appeared when feldspathic material in a fusible state was incorporated in a stoneware composition. The ancient Chinese called decayed feldspar kaolin (meaning "high place," where it was originally found); this substance is known in the West as china clay. Petuntse, or china stone, a less decayed, more fusible feldspathic material, was also used in Chinese porcelain; it forms a white cement that binds together the particles of less fusible kaolin. Significantly, the Chinese have never felt that high-quality porcelain must be either translucent or white. Two types of porcelain evolved: "true" porcelain, consisting of a kaolin hard-paste body, extremely glassy and smooth, produced by high temperature firing, and soft porcelain, invariably translucent and lead glazed, produced from a composition of ground glass and other ingredients including white clay and fired at a low temperature. The latter was widely produced by 18th-century European potters.
It is believed that porcelain was first made by Chinese potters toward the end of the Han period (206 BC-AD 220), when pottery generally became more refined in body, form, and decoration. The Chinese made early vitreous wares (protoporcelain) before they developed their white vitreous ware (true porcelain) that was later so much admired by Europeans.
Regardless of time or place, basic pottery techniques have varied little except in ancient America, where the potter's wheel was unknown. Among the requisites of success are correct composition of the clay body by using balanced materials; skill in shaping the wet clay on the wheel or pressing it into molds; and, most important, firing at the correct temperature. The last operation depends vitally on the experience, judgment, and technical skill of the potter.

Tough one.
Hakeem- I'd take Hakeem over anyone I've seen, such an amazing offensive and defensive weapon in his prime , best player I've seen.
Ducan-Tougher, I'd plead the fifth if asked to choose, Duncan definitely had more build around potential but Kobe was a closer and would shut down anyone defensively. It's a tough call, it honestly depends on the team you're trying to build, but the fact that dominant big men are slightly rarer than skilled perimeter players gives Duncan the edge.
Lebron : Personally no, Lebron could make his teammates better and he has more all round game but he's not close to prime Kobe just yet. Flat out scoring machine who would straight up embarass the triple teams that came at him nightly, lockdown perimiter D, and could facilitate when he wanted to , easy choice here for me.
If I'm drafting someone though , Kobe's last by a long margain.

Oh Bloody hell you gone and shat yourself Mickey

Not quite, you can use the leftovers for compost or the seeds for a new tree. I do think your thread is useless now.
