i think i'd take howard over durant... having a surefire center is still just more valuable and his offensive game is still on the up and up, likely to peak in a year or two once he adjusts to his new team. only thing that might stop me is his acting like a tw@t all year but generally speaking he's still a good natured guy and on the right team, he's far from a cancer.

Didn't you put Wade in your top 5? You're not one to talk about rankings :oldlol:
Wade >>>>>>Kobe.

Wade is a much more efficient scorer. Higher FG%, higher TS% and a higher eFG%. In fact, Kobe had a 46.2 eFG% this year...that's pretty damn bad. Kobe averaged more rebounds and assists, but that's because he played more minutes. Wade has a rebound% of 8.7 compared to Kobe's 7.8. He has an AST% of 27.3 to Kobe's 23.7. They turn the ball over at same rates. Wade not only has a higher PER , but he has a SIGNIFICANTLY higher PER. It's not even close. Wade was the 7th best iso defender, per synergy. The biggest contrast is in win shares. Wade had 1.5 more win shares, despite playing in 9 fewer games. He had .227 WS/48 compared to Kobe's .132. That's a HUGE gap that you can't ignore.

Plus Wade's Game 6 vs. the Pacers was better than anything Kobe's put up in the Playoffs in the last 3 years.

I guess this is when the Kobe stans start to really show their true colors.
I don't even like Kobe and I'll easily take him over Paul any day of the week. He might be the most overrated player in the league.

Kobe and Dwight were close but Dwight doesn't take over games offensively like Kobe can despite having all the physical tools. I've never feared a Dwight led team like I have with Kobe.

You're the only one pushing for Rondo and saying he's a top 3 player in the league. That should tell you something. If it was as obvious as you're making it seem, then there'd probably be at least one more poster agreeing with you.

Chris Paul, Dwight looked liked he had regressed offensively from his breakout 2010-11 season. He also didn't really put as much effort defensively either.

Yo, RRR3, first of all, I like the fact that you have criteria for when a person wins (25 votes) as opposed to according to your whim. Takes out any bias you may have from affecting the votes.

But second of all, what is this vote about? Best player in the 2012 season or best player for the 2013 season? If you clarify, it would be better because you'd have people voting based on the same criteria.

Thing is not everyone is playing at the moment. If that's what we're going by, then that means Calderon would be ranked above Rose because of his surgery. Do you mean then for the 2013 season?

there is no more 'healthy' D-Rose

tearing an ACL is a debilitating injury from which he won't ever completely bounce back

he'll have to reinvent himself as a jumpshooter

CP3 tore his MCL and still isn't back to where he was before the injury

I'd say Paul for me is above Howard. I didn't bother for 1 and 2 because those were a given. 1 and 2 haven't been this clear since I've started watching the NBA.

It's basically a choice between an offensive facilatitor/scorer, who's very good in the clutch and a defensive anchor who's also a very potent scorer too... his free throw struggles at the line and his off court behavior are what set him back for me.

He's probably better than Paul when they both have their heads straight, but I don't think Howard's the competitor Paul is or works as hard as Paul does.

Please vote :( want to finish this one before I go home

Paul.

It's too bad D-Rose is injured, I would really loved to see them go at each other again... Rose might have been this high too, at least Top 5 going forward, if healthy.

I don't see any comparison with Willis and Dwight. Dwight's a better scorer and defender than Willis. Dwight's a franchise player, Willis is not.

I would compare Howard to the likes of Alonzo Mourning or Patrick Ewing (to a lesser extent).
