View Full Version : Which SF is right for the lakers?

Nick Young
08-09-2012, 02:06 PM
Lakers need a new SF to become the best line up possibly of all time. The criteria:
Young, athletic
Knockdown spot up shooter
Defensive stopper
Doesn't demand touches
Hustle guy

Kind of like 2009 era Trevor Ariza, or Tayshaun Prince with better shooting.

What SF today fits that criteria?

the SF of today just has to play defense and hit open threes

just like always

only difference is instead of only having to stick with 6-7 forwards. now they have to defend 6-8 to 6-10 sf's with speed like durant/lebron

its never about offense. because that can be substituted with other positions

he has mostly played an undersized 4 role. I agree with the parsons pick, except for the defense.

Unfortunately, there arent a lot of players who can shoot, defend and are hyper athletic for cheap. Austin Daye would be interesting there, if the pistons really are trying to move him. Also, JJ or Singler would be interesting on these teams. Each of them have some deficiencies, but all solid young players. well, daye may not be after he shat the bed last season

hes definitely long and alright on D. But not a great defender based on the rockets games I watched (a lot) and talking to my diehard rox friends.

Artest is the best in the league at guarding Durant/Bron.

They should go for a swingman who can score off the bench, Chandler wouldn't be bad.

If they're dealing Artest, Iggy.

a month into the season... meta seems to be fairing quite well, to the surprise of many. but ill still go with my first pick, chandler parsons, as the ideal 3 for LA. dont know if the lakers are really trying to move pau or not, and if on the other end, HOU is looking for a scoring pf, but if the stars aligned, would CP and one of hous many pf's ie: patterson, for pau a good deal? obviously other pieces would need to be added for salary reasons.

pardon the random ass bump

If I were LA i'd much prefer Luol Deng. He provides length and is a pretty good shooter. Young still athletic and can finish on the fast break. Honestly perfect fit.

   Remember when all the Laker fans were talking about how much Jamison was going to do? He's had two good games which anyone with a brain knows is an anomaly. Not to mention wasn't one of the OP's criteria a defensive stopper. Forget a defensive stopper, Jamison has never played defense during his entire NBA career. Everyone knows he's a washed up piece of shit. Scottie Pippen could come back at his age and play the 17mpg that Jamison plays and play much better defense...that's how ****ing terrible he is.

Pretty sure Ariza can be had affordable. 6'8 rangy shooter with good team D.

People underrate that 2009-2010 Lakers team. They had shooters, and finishers in Brown and Ariza.

By rangy do you mean spotty? Because he's not at all a knockdown shooter. His main asset was his length on d and athletic ability to run the floor.

Don't forget to mention his ability to steal the ball. Intercepted it away from Melo TWICE in the Playoffs (Vs. Nuggets).
