When you factor in the huge population of countires like the USA (over 300 million people) and especially China (over 1 billion people) their success in the Olympics has nothing to do with their inherent "superiority."

Germany, France, and Great Britain are all equally impressive (if not more so) when you consider they have about a 3rd (less in fact) of the US population. Not even mentioning summer olympic greats like Jamaica and Australia that have outstanding medal counts and performances in spite of their tiny populations.

But Americans like to delude themselves, so sure, you are the greatest.:oldlol: USA! USA! Moronic nationalist bullshit.

What do I have to be insecure about? We have high quality of life indicators, beautiful women, a beautiful country, a good and stable economy, and plenty of talented men and women athletically and creatively that make their presence felt worldwide. Plus, we are universally loved by all nations of the world.

Not to mention, our current medal count is actually more impressive when you consider we have 1/10th of your population. Yup, it's a good day to be a Canadian (Oh ya, we also had the most golds in the winter olympics, lawls).

All I did was shove that go-hung pro-American BS logic down the throats of everyone boasting in this thread, and all you have to come bad with is inventions of my insecurity and 'u mad' pics. I'd expect nothing less from ISH.:lol

America's huge population definitely has something to do with their number of medals.

Still, being the best Olympic country is an impressive achievement, and as an American I am prideful about my country's success. But :lol at the fools in this thread who are acting like the US's Olympic superiority is somehow indicative of the country's superiority as a whole.

If American's entire population were truly represented in some sort of athletic competition, the huge amount of American fatasses would surely drag this country down to the point where even the few elite athletes wouldn't be able to save us.

Canada doesn't blindly jump into wars as they didn't in Iraq or Vietnam but Canada does support its allies and is a strong ally of the USA/Brits. Heck, because Canada is resource rich it is a mutually benefit relationship.

God you are a moron of the highest order, I am astounded at your stupidity. As someone already mentioned, Canada has refused to war with the US and their allies several times (notably in recent history with Iraq) and it drew massive criticism from those in the United States. Canada proved again its unwillingless to jump into a damaging conflict. Canada didn't look too bad coming out of that decision did they?:lol

As for the person who criticized Canada's bronze medals, I never said that Canada was a power in the summer olympics, but comparably they are pretty much equivalent to the USA in terms of production (plus our programs don't dish out near the amount of cash the US or other countries do for their athletes). In addition to that, Canada was dominant in the Winter Olympics, so your argument is crap.

Please, you are an imbecile, and should just stop talking at this point. You have no evidence to support that Canada is freeloading off of anyone, they are part of NATO, so naturally they rely on their allies (just as the USA and many other countries in NATO do).

Canada isn't under any direct threat because they are a passive nation anyway. In fact, Canada went to war with the USA when they were attacked, so we were obliged to fight for your interests. Maybe you should shut up about things you aren't informed in. Honestly your lack of knowledge when it comes to foreign policy makes you sound like the an ignorant American stereotype.

It was nice to see the first black female gymnastic win a medal/gold in gymnastics with Gabrielle Douglas. They interviewed her and she is literally your girl next door type of person, big smile, big heart.

A lot of firsts this Olympics.

Oh look, another moron. Jamaica's population is three million and they dominate the most popular sport of the Olympics. Population comparing they are more dominant than the United States, by posting medals you only made your argument worse. Tool.

I never argued for India, India is not a good sports nation. I never said the United States was a poor one, because they aren't, but saying that "moar medals equals moar better LOL" is a retarded stance and makes Americans look ignorant, you have to look at all factors when judging Olympic performance. What facts have you given? Everybody knows that the countries with higher populations have an advantage, but thanks for pointing that out, Captain Obvious. There's no real way to compare countries in the manner you're trying to think of. Grenada has a population of a little over 100,000, but they've won a gold medal, so does that mean they're the greatest Olympic country? You bring up Jamaica, but they only specialize in track and field. The country has only won 1 medal outside of track in their entire Olympic history. I could also point out that GB had more Olympic competitors than the USA in these Olympics. Also, a number of people who won medals for other countries live, train, and/or go to school in the US. We send a lot of athletes to the Olympics and they medal, deal with it.

Population alone doesn't mean a lot:

China - 1.3 billion - 81 medals
India - 1.2 billion - 4 medals
USA - 314 million - 94 medals
Indonesia - 237 million - 2 medals
Brazil - 192 million - 12 medals
Pakistan - 180 million - hasn't won a medal since '92
Nigeria - 166 million - 0 medals
Bangladesh - 152 million - never won a medal
Russia - 143 million - 63 medals
Japan - 127 million - 35 medals

Your logic is failing again, maybe it's time to quit.

Maybe you should quit being overly butthurt.

Jealous of what? I just explained why US athletic "superiority" is bullshit and you are prattling on about how I am jealous. If jealousy = challenging bullshit with facts then I suppose you got me. Well done tool.

Your logic is failing again, maybe it's time to quit.

we are superior to ever other country.

that is not an opinion, it is 100% fact.

it aint our fault that we bitchslapped great britian in the revolution and gained control over a vast amount of land. with this land we graciously allowed immigrants from other shit countries to come and enjoy our land.

this is turn lead to great wealth and thus great superiorority.

cananda will always be know as that country of people who wished they were born 100 miles to the south.

besides

india and china both have greater populatoin than us and we have more metals....

im not sure how you can argue that Jamaica's 55 total metals is even remotely equivalent to the United States have over 2,500 metals and double that of the country in second place.

as most of you know im not a very patriotic person but we were easily the big winners of this Olympics. that many golds/medals for such a small population is ridiculous.

i have to apologise to anyone who sat through that disgraceful closing ceremony tho, shit was uninspired, uncreative crapfest of boredom, that said nothing of our rich culture, just an insult to everyone. but then the opening ceremony was pure, pure genius ....

It's why the performance by Jamaica is so incredible.
LAWL Canuck still butthurt:roll:
USA just has the greatest athletes in the world, deal with it sport. No amount of whining and bitching from you or any other Canadians will ever change that.

Canadian here... I ain't hating, that's an impressive accomplishment. :pimp:

Great Britain is still the standout country to me however, despite being the host country, thought they had an amazing showing.
I watched Olympics nearly 24/7 had sky so was able to watch every single event.

There were multiple times when GB got some heavy home cooking, that wasn't very publicized because it happened in obscure sports, and often times in early qualifying rounds no one was paying attention to. That Gemma chick who won Silver at Judo for example, I watched an extremely dodgy match involving her vs a mongolian ranked #7 in the world. In the last minute the Mongolian got a point taken away for no reason, an extra few seconds were added for no apparent reason, and Gemma got the winning point in the extra time. It was heavy home cooking.

Men's hockey, 2 last minute penalty corners were overturned to help them beat spain, however Men's hockey didn't medal so this ultimately didn't matter.

Several other examples like this, just happened in unwatched sports.

lmao, the angry Canadian is still in here getting mad over some 'Muricans f*cking with him because he inhabits an athletically inferior nation (yeah, you make great hockey players but seriously...we > you). And stop taking about your health care like anyone gives a tenth of a f*ck about it...we're talking Olympics, ya heard?

Just take the ribbing and stop being all , broski. People are just screwing with you cos you keep biting on it every time.

Meanwhile...we'll be down here stackin' gold medals and all that.

Why does your nation enslave little children from a young age and force them to train and compete to be olympic robots?http://axile.es/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/china_gymn.jpg

Don't you think that is cruel and disgusting behavior?

And on top of that China has to cheat by sending in 13 year old gymnasts and lying about their age, pretending to have lost their birth documents. Disgusting.

The funniest thing is for the next 4 years that trampoliner is going to be in all these high profile commercials and is now a national hero
