Jason Terry got the championship trophy before the season started. The Mavs were having a get together at Deshawn Stevenson's place. And Deshawn had a tattoo artist there and Deshawn was getting some more tattoos. Terry decded to get he championship tattoo to show him that he was serious in his belief that the Mavs could win it.
