For the pure basketball enthusiasts such as myself, this is so money.

Is there any past example of this on an NBA team?

with Kobe waiting on the perimeter for any open looks. And Metta in the elbow-cocked position.

Nigh unguardable.

Notice how the best offensive option for this team doesn't involve Kobe? Sorry I had to say it lol.

yes, i do like. flash gasol to the high post. you can also run straight PNR's with dwight. i mean, really, you don't have to get too fancy here. PNR teams to death. sometimes the simple stuff works, hopefully brown doesn't try to force princeton where it doesn't fit

It'll be the most efficient option. We all know what Kobe brings to the table, but these PnRs...

This. Gasol is one of the best passing big men anyway. So this is crazy.

Imagine if Kobe and Nash had switched careers. Nash with Shaq's peak years or the twin towers?

Last season it was either post up or Iso. Almost no pick n roll because of Bynum's limited mobility as a roll man and not having another ball handler outside of kobe. only effective play was really Kobe and Pau playing the two man game and Bynum doing what he could until he got doubled.

Now we have two of the best PnR players in Nash and Howard to go along and with Kobe and Pau. Nash and Kobe will both be able to play a very effective two man game with either Pau or Dwight.

Needless to say I'm excited for this season.

Swap Nash with Kobe and it still works I suppose?

No as a Laker fan you should be ecstatic. I'm just poking fun at Kobe stans

do the people bashing kobe have any idea how many hockey assists kobe got doing this exact same play with gasol and bynum last year and the year before?

the only difference is now howard can catch anything gasol tosses to him and kobe can focus on being the kick out man for three( over artest ) instead of wasting his time as a set up man

Kobe stans are getting annoying. They are so ****ing insecure that Lebron is better than he is that they start to shove their agenda driven shit down everyone else's throats. On a side not, I can't wait for the season to start. I really hope that Potato Head doesn't mess anything up. All the pieces are in place and the only question marks are Kobe and Potato Head. Kobe better not play anymore hero ball.

29 teams in this league would love Kobe to play hero ball

How many goals did Kobe score? How many penalties did he receive? How well did he score on the power play?

Well, considering the fact that for the last 2 years "Lakers offense" = Kobe, the addition of both Nash and Howard will be a refreshing, desperately needed change.

I don't think Kobe knows how to take an open shot. I bet he just stands there waiting for guys to guard him so he can go into ISO mode.

It's gonna be so hard for teams to rebound against LA. Dwight is a monster on the boards. I feel bad for those teams out west. :(

This is correct, no sideline coaching need when Nash is around. You just give him the ball and let him do his thing....

Alot of wins ensue.

valid point but a lot of that only works for isolated and end of game plays. it's up to brown and crew to develop and install a real system and a lot of that stuff comes off the ball. nash will always be able to create but you want something to come naturally...with chemistry, synergy and with ease (and that's where the coaching staff shows up). that's how LA will become a top 3 offense in the league. honestly, if they're not at least top 5 offensively, that's a referendum on coaching since they more than have the personnel to do so.

What change? Has Mike Brown been replaced? You have a head coach who literally does not coach offense. Does not know offense. The only way consistent, competent offensive sets will be run is if Kobe just takes the bull by the horn and calls the sets himself.

id rather have nash/dwight in the pick and roll on one side, with artest in the short corner, pau on the strong side baseline, and kobe on the strong side wing

the only weak offensive player (artest) is relatively hidden, on the weakside corner

nash handling the ball, you can trust him to make the right decision, pau and kobe feasting on open jumpers, and dwight rolling into a wide open paint

no holes offensively

The offensive change isn't coming from Brown's coaching but the additions that have been made .

Eddie Jordan has been hired as an assistant coach to instill some principles of the Princeton offense.

We can now actually play the pick n roll game with multiples combinations. The last few years the only PNR came from Kobe/Pau, while it is a deadly combination teams settled in on it and collapsed the paint cause no one spaced the floor. Now we can play PNR with any combination of Nash/Kobe/Pau/Dwight and have that floor spacing because you cannot double off any of them.

Mitch could have tried to get a knockdown 3 pt shooter at the 3 but really you can't fault him at much after having this great offseason.

lmfao did you even watch Cleveland with Mike Brown? The offense was give the ball to Lebron at the top of the key while everybody else watches :oldlol:
