If it's similar to how people on this board chose their basketball team, I'm guessing... Patriots, Cowboys, Packers, Giants, and Jets will be the top 5. With some holding on hope with the Panthers, Skins, Colts, 49ers, and Broncos.

I love it when the game is over and they are still trying to score and the opposing team's entire fanbase starts crying about the Patriots running up the score! Well, how about your dumb team starts playing some f*ckin defense then?!?!

In USA? Maybe... But there is an entire world out there... where NBA not only just doubles the revenue of the NFL, but quintuples or hextuples or maybe even octuples it... hell even american sports like NHL / MLB kills NFL out there

Sorry dude.. but basketball is much bigger than american "foot"-ball outside USA and NBA is basketball, the only thing standing in basketballs way of world domination is basically just Soccer (most popular sport in the world), no pun intended im sure NFL is a cool sport if you have that acquired taste

Different breed? MEGATRON is a different breed. He is bigger, stronger, faster, and more talented than any other WR. Freak of nature. Julio Jones doesn't compare.

Megatron is the best in the game, no doubt. Definitely better than Julio. But once Julio gets to veteran status he'll become a monster. He's nearly unstoppable already.

:coleman: AJ Green >>>> Jones.

Julio Jones had one more touchdown, and more yards per game than AJ Green last season... in two less games.

They're both very good WRs, but Julio performed better last year.

At the combine Julio had a much faster 40 time, 4 inches higher vert (while being an inch shorter), 9 inches more of a broad jump, a much faster cone drill and a MUCH MUCH faster 60 yard shuttle.

Who gives 2 sh*** about the NFL?.
This is a basketball forum and why the hell
is this in the NBA FORUM?

Nobody cares about a sport which takes the least skill
and only takes 5-7 seconds a play. The plays being called and just making a play takes longer than the actual game.Matter of Fact for all the ratings
the Super Bowl gets most watch them for the commercials and American
Football is irrelevant and boring outside the U.S.Nobody outside the U.S. gives two craps worth about the NFL.

LMAO since when does having more fans equate to having more revenue? Maybe you should google why the nfl makes so much revenue but first the definition of revenue. You do realize the NFL has the highest making revenue in the World? Even more then he EPL which is 2nd. NBA is at 5 right behind those 2 and mlb and formula 1.

Only 7 teams don't have votes (Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars, Seattle Seahawks, St. Louis Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tennessee Titans, Washington Redskins). Oddly enough the last four teams without a vote are the last four teams alphabetically.

There's only really four or five teams that have solid representation, then a bunch of scatter.

I might be the only Bills fan on here, but I'm proud to be a part of the greatest and most dedicated fanbase in the NFL (and if you deny that, you have to at least admit we're very near the top).

Mark my words: Julio Jones is going to be the best receiver in the game within three years. He brings dynamics other WRs don't. He's a different breed.

AJ Green >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Julio Jones. It's not even a debate. Not a slight to Julio because he's a very good receiver in his own right and will probably be top 5 but Green's gonna be up there with Calvin for the next 4-5 years.

By saying it's no debate, you clearly show a lack of knowledge on both guys. There is absolutely a debate. If AJ Green had outperformed him last year by a lot, then maybe. But fact is Julio Jones outperformed him in high school and was higher ranked coming out of high school because of it, and he outperformed Green in college with a HORRIBLE quarterback at Alabama throwing him the ball. Julio outperformed him last year. Facts point to Julio, hype points to AJ.

Facts point to Julio? Facts show that Julio was in a much better situation and didn't consistently face top 10 pass defenses like Green did. Green had a rookie QB whereas Julio had a top 12 QB throwing him the ball and consistent single coverage due to having a top 10 wide receiver opposite him taking coverage away from him. Julio wasn't better in high school, that's 100% hype. Green was better in high school, he was better in college, and he will consistently be better than him in the pros. Green also had to leave early in a game when he was tearing up an elite Steelers defense which Julio RARELY faced the likes of. Facts say it was close. Eye test says Green was the best rookie receiver by far. There's a reason why almost EVERY top receiver list by the end of next year has Green in the top 5 and not Julio. Julio's the better athlete, Green is the better football player.

Green got double teamed a lot because he doesn't have Roddy White on the other side. On the other hand, Julio played in less games than AJ and had more touchdowns and he ran a 4.3 with a broken foot. If you watched any Falcons games last year, you'd see that Julio actually got a majority of the double teams beginning at about midseason. Julio also had two other guys that would take catches away (White and Gonzalez). If you are going to use the argument that he had a target taking attention away from him, that other target's numbers would've had to take a sizable hit because Julio would be taking catches and yards away. Not the case. How can you sit there and argue that he was 100% hype in high school and then say AJ is better when Julio has PRODUCED MORE in both college and the pros? AJ had better QBs in college but didn't perform better than Julio, so what's the issue there? AJ Green had guys like Massoquoi and other solid targets on the other side to help taking attention away in college, while Julio had nothing but Julio STILL performed better. At least admit the clear truth that Julio performed better in college. Julio is absolutely the better athlete, and he's the better receiver (in my opinion). In reality, it doesn't matter because they both appear as though they're going to be elite, but to say there is no argument is ridiculous and blind. The argument that he has other targets to take attention away from him works the opposite way, too. That means less balls for him, whereas there are no other threats for the Bengals.

PS- Are you referring to the game where he had one catch for like 30 yards and then had to leave the game? That's not tearing it up, that's one catch.

Not really, if you asked 100 NFL fans who the better player is and who they would take I GUARANTEE you at least 80 of them will say Green. Green has potential to be the best deep threat in the league. Green is incredibly polished as a receiver and it doesn't hurt that his ball skills are top 3 in the league. I never doubted Julio was the better athlete but Green is no slouch either. He's 6'4 and is incredibly fluid in his route running which is why he was so highly touted. He's already one of the top 3 jump ball threats in the league. With all of Julio's athleticism being taken into account he'll never be the jump ball threat Green is even with the 40 inch vert. Julio is a YAC beast but if I had to choose between that and a potential best deep threat in the league you already know who I'm choosing.

Julio faced ONE top 10 pass defense and he dropped the game-tying ball.

Green faced SEVEN top 10 pass defenses and still played fairly well.

If you think Julio faced double coverage you're fooling yourself. No way in hell defensive coordinators are giving double coverage to Julio when there's Roddy White and Tony G on the team. Just stop it. Having a far better quarterback WITH single coverage >>>>>>>>>> being the #1 with a rookie quarterback facing constant double coverage. It's not even close which one is far more advantageous.

Did you watch their college film? Green was BETTER in college which is why he was UNANIMOUSLY considered the best wide receiver in college. Numbers don't tell the story in college. Like I said, Jones is the better athlete, Green on the other hand? He's the better football player.

Your first point can be shot down with one word: hype. Hype points to Green, and so does the media. He was a part of the resurgent Bengals offense that shocked the league, so he got more attention.

If we're talking opponents, let's check common games, they had four common opponents: Jacksonville, Indy, Seattle and Houston

AJ Green: 19 catches, 263 yards and 3 TDs.
Julio Jones: 23 catches, 411 yards and 3 TDs.

Your amazing ability to dismiss the statistics I posted above is amazing. In college, the quarterback situation was far opposite. Julio had the bad QB while Green had the good one. Now it's the opposite, and that obviously attributes. Julio had better statistics rookie season in a better situation, so I would say their rookie seasons are equal. But fact is there are a lot of facts pointing to Julio. So at least admit there's a good argument there.

For the record, a better quarterback isn't going to be a 200 yard difference in the 4 common games. There's some credit due to Julio for that, especially since there are two targets on Atlanta that got much more looks than him.

If you think NFL GMs and coaches give a shit about hype you're delusional. The league was way higher on Green than they were Julio because he's better. Stop using hype as an argument as if that's the reason Green is universally recognized as the better receiver. I find it funny how with Julio's measurables he doesn't get the "hype" Green gets. Oh wait, maybe it's because Green is just flat out the better player.

I'm not dismissing the statistics. Julio had the best back in the nation isn't that an advantage? Julio got the majority of his production in those 4 games from that one Colts game. Not saying that's a bad thing but it's skewed considering he wasn't half as effective as he was in the 3 other games. Green also had a knack for making clutch plays down the stretch something Julio didn't do, in fact he DROPPED a game-tying ball in Houston. It's a good argument but it doesn't change the fact that Green faced SEVEN top 10 pass defenses and yet still managed to put up 1000 yards in his rookie year something Calvin, Andre, and Fitz never did.

A top 12 quarterback compared to a rookie quarterback is a huge difference no matter what the situations.

Anyways, I'm done with this argument. Neither one of us is gonna change either one's opinion so I'll just stick to the consensus of AJ Green being the better receiver.

There is certainly no consensus in the smart NFL minds. It's a solid argument for both sides. And your weak argument about taking away the Colts game from Julio:

In common games:
AJ Green: 19 catches, 263 yards, 3 TDs (over FOUR games)
Julio Jones: 20 catches, 280 yards, 1 TD (over THREE games).

So take away the Colts game and Julio STILL has an extra catch and more yards (less TDs). I'd take AJ over Julio on those numbers, but that's in one less game.

And you can't sit there and say "top 10 pass defenses." There's no such thing. What would you be basing that off? Top 10 in passing yards against, touchdowns against, completions against?

I'm going apeshit crazy here because I'm bored, so here are some stats against "top 10 defensive categories."

Against teams in the top 10 of completions against:
AJ Green, 7 games: 24 catches, 475 yards, 1 TD (average of 3.4 catches, 67.9 yards)
Julio Jones, 4 games: 16 catches, 288 yards, 2 TDs (average of 4 catches, 72 yards)

Against teams top 10 in yards against:
AJ Green, 7 games: 29 catches, 564 yards, 4 TDs (4.1 catches, 80.6 yards)
Julio Jones, 3 games: 11 catches, 182 yards, 1 TD (3.7 catches, 60.7 yards)

Against teams top 10 in TDs against:
AJ Green, 12 games: 46 catches, 763 yards, 5 TDs (3.8 catches, 63.6 yards)
Julio Jones, 3 games: 20 catches, 280 yards, 1 TD (6.7 catches, 93.3 yards)

Against teams top 10 in QB rating against:
AJ Green, 8 games: 26 catches, 451 yards, 4 TDs (3.3 catches, 56.4 yards)
Julio Jones, 4 games: 21 catches, 282 yards, 0 TDs (5.3 catches, 70.5 yards)

Overall vs teams in important top 10 defensive passing categories:
AJ Green, 34 games: 125 catches, 2066 yards, 14 TDs (3.7 catches, 60.8 yards, 1TD per 2.4 games)
Julio Jones, 14 games: 68 catches, 1032 yards, 4 TDs (4.9 catches, 73.7 yards, 1TD per 3.5 games)

Those numbers show that CLEARLY AJ Green faced tougher competition more consistently. He scored more consistently against them without a doubt, but it shows that Julio had more catches and more yards.

If you divide the totals for AJ Green by two to make the games more equal, you get:
AJ Green (17 games, three more): 63 catches, 1033 yards, 7 TDs.
Julio Jones (14 games, three less): 68 catches, 1032 yards, 4 TDs.

I know this is overboard as hell, but I like to practice shit like this since I do a lot of statistics for websites and whatnot.

Pussified? Safe rugby? The average life expectancy for an NFL lineman is 52 ****ing years old. The average life expectancy for a retired NFL player is 55-58 years old. Hearing people who have absolutely no clue about the NFL talk about it never ceases to be entertaining. The ignorance is astounding. A running back in the NFL gets battered and beaten and their average career length is 2.5 years. They're also incredible athletes with an amazing combination of speed, power, quickness, agility and shiftiness.

A lot of people, in case you didn't know there are a lot of people born in the United States on this forum and the NFL is by far the most popular sport in the United states. It also takes a ton of skill to play, but you'd know nothing about that because you know absolutely nothing about the sport, yet you're somehow an authority on the subject. Again, an outsiders view on the NFL is absolutely drenched in ignorance and elitism. Also, why does it matter that there is a thread on this? Does one thread on the NFL bother you that much?

You have no idea how foolish and ignorant you sound by saying this. Every single position in the NFL takes a ton of skill to perform well at. A quarterback is valued above every other position in football and requires a ton of skill and repetition. Footwork, throwing motion, arm strength, accuracy, decision making are all important factors in being a quarterback. Canada also has a long history of gridiron football, the CFL, similar to the NFL but a bit different.

For the record, I hate the Patriots. But they were perfect for longer. They were 18-0 in a tougher NFL (yes, I know they lost the next game), the Dolphins were 17-0 in an easier NFL, so they could've lost within the next two games.
Lol @ perfect for longer. It's called a perfect season for a reason. You finish the regular/post season perfect doesn't matter if todays NFL has longer seasons and how can you say so casually "lost the next game" it was the ****ing superbowl loosing there means it's not even half of an achievement as the perfect season. And as for back then being easier where QBs weren't protected by refs and the rules made the game easier like to day is you're meaning of easy then sure

Don't be an ass. I was just noting that. Can't put down the Dolphins for not having as many games, I was just noting it.

The only thing you can actually say against the Dolphins during that perfect season is Mercury Morris because that guy is annoying as ****. He is the reason I root for somebody to have a perfect season every year because he's so god damn annoying and people keep putting him in front of the tv.

Just saying it was pointless comparing the only perfect season to a incomplete perfect season that ended up in a disaster was just stupid :confusedshrug:
