View Full Version : If Lebron Wins the Championship in 2013, Where does he Rank All-Time?

Foster5k

Lebron is, without question, one of the greatest to ever play, and one of the most dominate figures in sports ever. However, if he wins another ring, in 2013, where will he rank on the All-Time NBA list of legendary players?

Probably right after Bird, Magic, Wilt, Russell, Jordan, Kareem; fairly easily in the top 10. If he wins another 1-2 he'll have a case as good as any of them in my eyes for GOAT.

11th. Hakeem has back to back rings and Finals MVPs, Wilt 2 rings, Duncan 4 rings 3 FMVPs, Kobe 5 rings 2 FMVPs, Shaq 4 rings 3 FMVPs, Bird 3 rings 2 FMVPs, Kareem 6 rings 2 FMVPs, Russell 8 rings, Magic 5 rings 3 FMVPs, MJ 6 rings 6 FMVPs.

If he wins another ring, that would be the moral equivalent of someone dropping an atomic bomb on ISH. Confusion and hysteria everywhere. Analysis everywhere, etc.

I'd actually put him ahead of Kobe if he wins another one and gets at least two more all star games under his belt (which I'm fairly sure will happen at this point)

No way of knowing. Raw ring count doesn't mean all that much, so it really depends on what kind of run he has, as well as how much help he receives.

I doubt Wade/Bosh will be as hurt as they were this season, so this ring won't be as meaningful as LeBron's first unless he puts up monster numbers (i.e. 09 playoffs).

and lol I know man, this forum shit is never to be taken that seriously.

But yeah, fundamental disagreement between us in our ranking of top 10, while I like your criteria involving a persons retirement, I don't deem it completely neccessary in ranking. You can pretty much get a general feel for a person's ranking usually toward the twilight of their careers (ala Duncan, Kobe).

And the Big O was incredible, can't argue but the lack of hardware makes it difficult for me to put him in that top 10, can't argue with top 12-15 though.

And say whatever you want about him, but by the time he retires (in accordance with your conditions), you can't leave out this man:

depends again on wut else he wins....

fans of him will rate him too high
fans of kobe will rate him too low....
I'm usually not one to generalize but these boards have proven it....

to me as of right now kobe and him are interchangeable....take away the hype of both including the fans and just look at skills and games alone, it's easy to see they both have incredible games and skills yet have had major letdowns as well.....

It sort of does though.

Your point is well taken it's not just about the rings, however...

The typical top ten seems to be:

Bird, Duncan, Hakeem, Jordan, Kareem, Kobe, Magic, Russell, Shaq, Wilt

Those are the ten guys who would have at least two titles as the best player and at least two finals MVPs (had they always been given out) in the post shot clock era.

So getting that second ring as the best clear best player and finals MVP does mean something.

In my opinion, with the aforementioned season no worse than 12. I'd probably have him between 7 and 9 ahead of Hakeem, Mikan and Kobe for sure and depending on if he won another regular season MVP probably closer to #7 right on Bird's tail.

Not at all a Lebron hater, but top 10 players are players that change the game. Lebron has been a great player but he hasnt revolutionized anything, he's just good at everything. For example, I have Iverson in the top 10 because he really left a mark on the game and his influence is seen in every NBA game you watch. With Lebron, He's just a big ass dude that can keep up with anyone, and roids are a possibility, dude could probably scrape a gorilla. Idk. And the Miami shit isn't even that serious. If cleveland signed Wade/Bosh and payed luxury nobody would have said anything like with the 08 celtics......hating on Lebron is stupid but so is putting him in the top 10 of all time

If you really want to go down that road, then Mikan's in the top 10 because they had to make the court bigger and introduce the shot clock because of him. Not to mention the modern NBA would not have existed if not for him being the first NBA star and being a reason for fans to show up.

If Bron gets a ring, then I think he enters the top ten. Hell he's arguably in the top ten already! He's going into his 10th season and has 19,045 career points a ring, two gold medals, and three MVPs. Keep in mind Bird played 13 seasons and scored 21,791 points, has three rings and three MVPs. So if Bird has a place in the top ten, then Bron CLEARLY does if he wins a another ring. This could actually be the season that Bron passes Bird by as the GOAT SF. Which means u gotta put Bron in that 6-8 range GOAT.

Before its all said and done, Bron could be on a collision course with MJ for GOAT. He's only 27 years old and has a chance to put up numbers never heard. he actually has a shot at Kareem for the all time scoring record for starters. He will probably put up more assists than any non PG ever as well. So Bron could be looking at putting up around 40,000 points and 8,000 assists! That is so epic it's scary! But eclipsing MJ is like going after Ruth and Ali. Even if u build a better resume, they are such mythical figures that it seems damn near impossible to eclipse. As great as Bron is, I don't think he has the hold on the world like MJ did.

Top 10 quite easily if he wins the FMVP. If he wins the MVP as well then he surasses Bird as the GOAT SF. This season could see LeBron move from 11-12 to 7. Could be great, or not depends on how he plays. LeBron is only chasing ghosts after this season if he wins the MVP/FMVP with something like 27/7/6 because all current players would be behind him in the all time list.
