Needless to say, my vote is the same. It's close between him and Duncan, but Shaq's peak and dominance beats out the quality of Duncan's.

So far we've gotten votes for Isiah, Kobe, Erving, and Hakeem. :facepalm
They're great players, of course, but this has to either go to Shaq or Duncan. It's really a toss up between those two.
Put me down for Shaq though.

This is where it gets tricky....
Measuring players, the next 3 slots would go: Shaq, Duncan, Kobe
Measuring careers, the next 3 slots would go: Duncan, Kobe, Shaq.
Hmm.
Observing the trend of this list, it seems career achievement and team success very narrowly trump individual prowess.
With that in mind, I give my vote to Duncan.
For all of Shaq's greatness, his success was supplemented by superior supporting casts to Duncan, Kobe, or Hakeem (whom I have as #10).
First Penny, then Kobe, then Wade. And, in the twilight of his career, Nash and Lebron.
So gotta give my vote to Duncan. Same number of rings, same number of FMVPs. But, Duncan quite frankly achieved his with less (and so did Hakeem and Kobe).

He will. This is how he matches up with Bird.
I think people consider a little more than accolades alone, but even considering only the accolades there's no doubt people are giving Kobe the 2-option treatment despite being Elite by 2000-01 for his first three titles, with the two more satisfying ones being 2009-2010. A lot of people place huge emphasis on the MVP's as well.
I think Kobe would've won titles regardless with a servicable cast, but his individual numbers wouldn't suffer as they do having played with Shaq from 1997-2004 and coming off the bench the first two seasons. A lot of potential 30+ ppg seasons down the drain.

And, arguably, so are Shaq, Duncan, and even Hakeem. Don't throw your "resume" argument out at me, because at their peak those three were more dominant than Kobe at his peak; not by a wide margin or anything, I just happen to think their peak was better than Kobe's.
To me, you could vote any of Shaq, Duncan, Kobe, and Hakeem at #7 and I wouldn't have a problem with it; but you bitching about Kobe not being at #7 like it's some huge disservice does nothing but show your extreme Kobe bias.

heres the problem with shaq over kobe ( YOU HYPOCRITES )
you place him there over a criteria that shaqs more efficient and had a higher peak
if thats what we're looking at then why put the people you did ahead of him..
each vote the criteria for ranking changes.. everyone knows russell didnt have a peak like shaqs either... russell is ranked on career accomplishments... then when kobe is in the mix it becomes ( WHAT CAN WE MAKE IT ABOUT TO PUT SHAQ HIGHER THAN KOBE!!!! )
HYPOCRITES
:facepalm :facepalm :facepalm :facepalm
if the factors used to put shaq over kobe were used for every other vote.. shaq would be top 3

Hakeem.
Shaq has never closed a game in his life lmao. Not even gonna bother arguing about Duncan, great player, respect him alot, but defensive and offensive skill levels just aren't comparable really.
Also even if Shaq carried Kobe, the point is he still had Kobe and Kobe was a top 5 arguably top 2 player in the league taking those years cumulatively.
Try having Vernon F***king Maxwell as your 2nd option on a thinner team than the Lakers had.
As I said, Haskeem should be top 5/

People don't like looking at the big picture. Career....look at what these players did in their entire careers.
For the longevity of Kobe's career he has been a top ten player in the NBA (not counting earlier seasons). That's about 14 to 13 years give or take.
Other players to match that...Kareem, Wilt, Russel...maybe Jordan would of but he kept retiring so who knows. Longevity is huge....that's being a gym rat playing 82 games plus deep playoff runs and Kobe has plenty of those more then a while lost of players. And he is still there right now after how many seasons. He probably got another two three years tops in him. It'd from hard work and changing certain aspects of his game.
When all is said an done Kobe will be top 5.

Dude, Kobe's dumb ass B-ball IQ is what keeps him so low on most people's lists. No one in most peep's top 10 lists have a rep for making their own fans cringe at their decision making like Kobe does. Don't you get it? He's the "dumb one" out of the guys that are usually listed in these type of threads. And he's dumb by choice, which makes it especially bad.

Typical agenda response.
You do not win titles and experience all the accolades you have in your career with low IQ. You want to talk shot selection the man goes for shots no other player would take...but you know what he can make them. Kobe leaves games with no bullets in his chambers that's always been his game. He is the greatest individual scorer since MJ.

With 2 whole scoring titles in 16 years of play. Chucker? yes. Scorer? Only when rules were changed to allow it to happen.

Well if 1 to 6 is interchangeable then you might as well make 1-10 interchangeable because there's not a huge difference between 7-10(shaq, kobe, duncan, hakeem). But Wilt is a hell of a lot closer to 3 than he is to 7 that's why putting him at 6 is absurd.
