View Full Version : What brands of clothes do you wear?

With fall coming up I'll be buying new clothes and I can't wait actually because I've lost weight and will finally fit into some good clothes again. I realized I don't really have a particular style. I shop at Kohls/Old Navy mostly. I'm fine with a t-shirt, jeans and hoodie and a pair of Converse. I shop sometimes still at Aeropostale and AE. I order a lot of t-shirts (mostly heavy metal) online. I wear some White Sox/Chicago Bulls t-shirts.

But I realized if I get a good job that requires me to dress nicer or start dating again soon I'm going to need to buy some nice clothes. I have no idea what's popular.

Take advice from me, drop the sportswear when you go out, leave that for the gym or when you want to feel comfortable. Start with Ralph Lauren, buy some v-necks or plain classic tees from there. Forget Nike, lookup some fashion blogs to get some inspiration. Forget Jordan's also. Some good brands I want you to check out: Diesel, G-Star, Hugo Boss, Gap(found some nice inexpensive shorts there this weekend) Express, Banana Republic, Zara, H&M, Forever 21 (there's a men's section lol) Buy yourself a couple pair of nice shoes not sports shoes. Also get a suit, don't bother spending less then $800 or it will look like shit, don't stop there get some nice ties (LV or Burrberry) and get dress shirts. If you wanna look like ,money you have to spend it

C'mon man don't lie down like that. Who cares about what is popular? You gonna start listening to Justin Bieber too?

But with that said, don't be a hipster either. Find a nice middle ground.

This. Don't go hipster, but don't be a ghetto looking kid who nobody will take seriously. Check out those brands I told you & go try some nice clothes on, before you do that find a fashion blog or something. Then go try clothes on so you can see yourself in a different light. Look at Kanye West, he doesn't dress like some ghetto rapper, also Kobe Bryant for more inspiration...He's also well dressed. Don't be taking any pages from Wade &Lebron though :facepalm those wanna be hipster f#$%s

Basically this.

I wear BR and Gap. I think for strip mall and shopping mall stores, those are the best. Don't like Express because they are overpriced and their stuff is poorly made.

Leave the sportswear at home. Forget the Nike shirts unless you are chillin at home or it's in the daytime. At night, make sure to go home and change for dinner and drinks. You don't want to be chillin with the homeboys all day and decide what you guys are wearing is fine and go there with your Nike and J's on. To be honest Air Jordans have become ghetto. Don't let the price fool you like you got some expensive shoes on. Buy custom tailor shoes. $1200 for 2 pairs. It beats any $1200 AJ collection.

Go with quality and forget what label it is. Nobody is going to care what label you are wearing. Also, if there is a label....people or women would be like "oh, it's just another brand name." But if you invest in quality clothing, people will wonder, "damn that shit is nice" or "those shoes are sick" and they will be wondering all night what you are wearing.

Like the Oscars...when people are wondering what the stars are wearing. You want to be like them.

Forget what's popular and go buy some classic looks. Some classic looks can be found on BR's website or GAP and then you can mix and match some looks.

Shoes are very important. You will be ready for any date.

You don't want to be the dude that needs to rush to shop for an outfit because you ain't got jack to wear!

When you rush to find an outfit...it will look funny on you because you are just mixing and matching and have no clue on how to do it. I think you should train yourself and eye on some of the classic looks out there and start investing in some good gear.

Some stores you should consider for quality items at cheaper prices are Cotton-On for t-shirts and vnecks, Pac-Sun and/or Tilly's for jeans, Van Heusen for button ups, slacks, and ties, and Rue21 for nice jackets sweaters and peacoats. The quality of the materials may not be top notch, but screw it, who gives a ****. As long as it looks good on you is what matters.

Just LOL @ this guys brands.

Suit: if you want to spend big, go Brioni but it will be 2500+ unless you get it on sale. For an affordable suit, Hugo Boss will work fine

Ties: Hermes, roughly $180-200 each. If you want cheaper, go something like Hickey Freeman

Dress Shirt: Charvet, for cheaper Brooks Brothers

Pants: Incotex, Massimo for cheap

Shoes: Ferragamo or Tod's. Cole Haan/Johnson & murphy for cheap

Belts: Dunhill or Ferragamo. You want a good reversible brown & black belt. It will cost you around $250-300

Shorts don't matter as they're all the same. Just go Chino shorts without Cargo. You can buy cheap brands for $20 or nicer ones for $120. But you're really just paying for the brand here.

Sport Shirts: Ralph Lauren works, it's casual anyway

Trench Coat: You want a nice trench for rain, it's classy and extremely nice when there is bad whether. Go Burberry, you can probably get one on Ebay for $300-400

I agree with shorts, shoes and sport shirts.

The rest are downright laughable. Who's going to buy a Brioni suit if they are wearing it once in awhile. The human body changes...if it didn't a Brioni would be the only suit you would buy.

lol @ trench coat. Skip the trench unless the area you are living rains 24/7 and you have a business meeting everyday in a suit.

Again, you are just name dropping. I believe all the other stuff you mentioned are great but it's like asking what car should I get...one person isn't going to start recommending Ferrari's, Lambo's and Mercedes to someone.

Think more practical as for an average person not Donald Trump.

I'm picky when it comes to fit, so it is hard for me to find brands that I like and I typically stick with a brand once it has pleased me in fit/quality.

Ralph Lauren Polo- Polos is my primary buy here. They are the perfect fit for me. I also like some of their jeans and shorts.
Brooks Brothers- extra-slim dress shirts. I have a hard time with dress shirts because if they fit me across the chest/shoulders, then it is so baggy around my waist, but these seem to be a good fit for me where it is slim around the waist.
Nike- athletic gear- shoes, shirts, shorts, socks, etc.
Underarmour- athletic wear
Jordan- shoes//some shirts
J.Crew- some of their shorts and that's basically it.
Banana Republic- some of their shirts

That is probably about it. I keep trying to find a God damn pair of khakis that fits my legs/ass, but I have come up empty after trying on a bunch of different brands/pairs. They literally look like girl pants on me- I went and tried a pair on at Banana Republic and when I came out some guy next to my group of friends busted out laughing, lol. So that is my mission right now- to find a good pair of khakis that fits, lol.

Wait till you have to wear a suit every day and you see how fast they wear out. If I could find suits of decent quality for 100 bucks I'd stockpile them.

Most people upon seeing a guy in a $3,000.00 ensemble don't think to themselves, "That guy seems like he has good taste". They think "Does this d-bag really think he is impressing people?" :oldlol:

My primary outfit essentially consists of Jordan Brand basketball shorts and a plain t-shirt from Foot Locker/Finish Line.

For jeans, I wear LRG... but I don't wear them very often.

In the winter I wear Champion sweatpants pretty often. I also wear Champion/Nike/other athletic-type sweatshirts when it gets cold.

And that's pretty much it.

Honestly, I've been taking more of a casual approach to my clothing.

I would have to say for Jeans - Levi's, Hollister, A&F, it continues
For T's I would go all out on T's that look great, no specifics, but Gap, AE, A&F, are all fine. I myself is looking to change my clothing line.
As for sneakers, I wear Vans, Levi's, Tims, I would wear Jordans, etc.

That's just me though, I go with whatever I feel like looks best on me. I like cardigans, I bought $160 worth of clothes just now at A&F & about 3-4 were cardigans. I just bought this one here

http://www.abercrombie.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10901&storeId=10051&langId=-1&categoryId=93205&parentCategoryId=12206&topCategoryId=12202&productId=1007015

$44 half off, can't go wrong. Wear it with some plat shirts & im good to go. What some people mentioned here are some great style, I like it. Don't get the idea of bashing people for their unique sense of style, unless someone really goes all out & purchases clothing for expense and looks for show & tell. I need to redo my closet anyways, so some real simple T's now, keeping that out of the list a bit since it's getting colder. I'm a skinny guy so casual looks good on me.

I got a question though. What are some good belts that don't require holes? Something adjustable and AFFORDABLE. I see mentions of leather belts over $250 here but that's TO much. I'm talking about casual and simple, I'm in need of one. Also, I need some good sweaters, I looked into H&M their fine to. Might get some there, any recommendations?

Why do people act like being fortunate and having wealthy parents is a bad thing?

I do think people overreact to others showing their financial well-being, but Joyner definitely flaunts his daddy-money pretty hard. If he was truly interested the nature of the OP, he simply would have listed his favorite brands, not high-end price tags.... and we both know this thread isn't an anomaly in his posting history.

I guess it depends on whether or not that person brags about it or not. It's just in poor taste, do*chebaggery, if somebody that didn't earn it brags about it, rubs it in others faces and puts people down.

It's bad enough when somebody that earned their money does that, but when that person didn't do shit for the money, that's a different story.

It's not but you don't gain as much respect as if you bought that stuff on your own. Save the trust funds for times when you really need it (aka a house). Not pricey clothes.

Being fortunate isn't a bad thing but there's something to be said for buying nice things with money you made with your own job.

Style comes from the person in the clothes, not the label on them.

I don't care about brands honesty. Also though when I buy anything regarding sneakers or active wear I usually will by Nike, but other than that I have Dickies jeans, JKY by Jockey t-shirts/boxer briefs, various different dress shirts and ties that range from $20 up to $90.

Legs I rock nudie jeans and all black vans. Vans only cost $80 bucks I think that's cheap considering how sturdy they are.. But be careful vans authentic's are weak as fuuuuck. I'm rockin the Vans spv rowley they are very tough and I wear them everyday to work.
Nudie jeans are fkin expensive but it's justified I'm pretty sure I've had my pair for 4 years only washed them once and I still get ppl asking me "are they new jeans" they age beautifully and if you buy a pair don't wash them stick them in the freezer if they smell it kills the bacteria without harming the appearance of your jeans or effecting the custom fit you have created.
Note: sometimes I be rocking them scotch and soda chinos

When you have a nice pair of jeans you can wear whatever the fk you want just combo of all sorts of shirts as long as it fits nicely and is a nice color scheme I never spend more than $25 on a t shirt

I wear Detroit tiger fitted cap have 4 all the same.

you can put together a formal suit from h&m with shoes for under 200 dollars and it will look better then a lame 2000 dollar suit.
Lol @ this. Suits are something you should spend on if you can afford it. H&M sells poor quality products, I would never even think about something from there. If you want something at that price point go to men's warehouse and find a good tailor.

ppl still wear this? do you rock Ed Hardy as well?

Not a fan of Ed Hardy. And what's wrong with Affliction clothing?? It's not like it's been around longer than any of the other brands being mentioned.

Jeans: Levis, JCrew, Sevens(I have two pair I got for bargains)

Tee Shirts: I go to teeshirt shops. Have a few vintage Lakers tees. Restrosport. Bananna Republic basic plain tee.

Shoes: I'm a fan of the new balance collection at jcrew.

Watches: i really want to treat myself to a stowa or Christopher ward watch for Christmas.

Suits: whatever I find that I like. Don't have a brand. I do like Thomas pink dress shirts. They are multifunctional. Can wear them to club, work, dinner or out with fam.

Just a trend that passed by. No biggie. People seem to dislike it now.

His reply is what not to do.

Mate, it's obvious you are either black or armenian. You work in a rice mill and you buy designer everything because you think showing off your pretend 'status' is a substitute for actual style. You quite clearly have no sense of fashion, you just overspend and try too bloody hard, convinced that is what impresses other people.

That's the subtle difference, mate. Someone with legit style focuses first on the looking good. What your look says about your status will then fall into place. You on the other hand are trying to force 'status' into your style, very very hard. That is C.H.E.E.S.Y. mate, and you reek of it. You're the bloke wearing sunglasses in the club, mate. You're the bloke wearing a vest and fedora hat to the club. You're the dude who rocks gator shoes because your favorite rapper made it sound cool. You aint got a style, mate, you're just imitatin. You're the dude who thinks he's smooth and acts like he's Usher, while everyone else laughs at you behind your back. You're a pretend 'boss' and mate... I really do mean pretend.

If I'm wrong post a pic and let every chap here judge for themself. I guarantee you are a total cornball who tries way too hard and

Dont have any particular brands that I tend to wear.. I usually just buy clothes that I think are both nice and fairly affordable. As for what I wear outfit wise, I tend to just grab things from the top of my dresser and vary it by the weather outside.
