View Full Version : Who Here Is Sick And Tired of Seeing The Lakers Get Superstars And Keep On Winning

FlashDwyaneWade3

I know I am. I'm sick and tired of seeing them getting superstars. They win too much NBA Championships. They hardly rebuild their team like the rest of the teams. If they have to rebuild, it's short term. Like 2 or 3 years. Maybe a little more. Then they become a championship team again. After winning the championships in the 80's and won their last Western Conference championship in '91. They rebuild 6 years later and acquired Shaq and Kobe. Won another NBA title 9 years later. Then after Shaq got trade after winning the West Championship but losing the Finals in '04, quickly rebuild 3 years later.

Now they haven't really been the same after winning the title years ago, then they get Steve freaking Nash and Dwight freaking Howard. I hope the Lakers reign is done after Kobe retires and Dwight is stuck in rebuild mold with the Lakers for eternity. It's kinda like the 90's Bulls. I hated Jordan and the Bulls cause of our rivalry. You'd think the Bulls are done after Jordan retires and then he comes back and they still failed in '95.

I agree completely. The Lakers should intentionally run their franchise into the ground instead of trying to win like normal teams. Great post.

lol of course everyone hates the Lakers, the premiere team of the NBA. The Front Office is just smart.

Since Lakers are my favorite team, i enjoy watching lakers winning all the time. It's fun. Us fans are already looking at Free Agents to pair up with Dwight in 2 or 3 years once Kobe/Nash leaves.

Now the Lakers reloaded and are seeking to beat their asses. I feel sorry for your Mavs and the rest of the West. But the Heat will stop the Lakers in the Finals.

Luckily it's not Kobe and Nash in their primes. Imagine the backlash if the Lakers assembled a team of prime LeBron, prime Bosh and end-of-prime Wade. ISH would go nuts. :lol

Just imagine

in 2 years, the best front office in sports will have a ton of cap space and a superstar (Dwight Howard) to build around

I don't think the lakers have had free cap space since the 90s

Really? cuz all i hear is that "KOBE SHOT 43% FROM FIELD HE SUCKS NOW, HE'S AN OVERRATED CHUCKER" OR "NASH HAS A BAD BACK, CAN'T PLAY PAST 30 MINUTES, CAN'T GUARD ANYONE, WESTBROOK WILL EAT HIM UP" etc. that's all i've been hearing.

I wouldn't. Nash, Kobe, Metta and probably Gasol are on the tail end of their careers. They'll still have a few good seasons in them, but a young LeBron, Wade and Bosh is a better core to me. Especially long term. And then a bench of Ray Allen, Rashard Lewis and Shane Battier.

People really worry about Kobe's shooting percentage here and think he's done? This is Kobe freaking Bryant. A shortened season with a new head coach who doesn't really know how to coach and didn't prepare the team like he wanted to and new offensive system (If you really wanna call it an offensive system). This year it'll be back to 45% shooting or higher. Now that they have a full season of practices, go over their game plan etc. Kobe couldn't shoot any worse.

When they have cap space in 2014 they will (prolly) have Dwight, and Kobe will be on his final 3-5 million dollar contract, Gasol may be signed as depth, and LeBron, Bosh, and Wade will be FA's. If they still don't care about the money like in 2010 then I could see them all jumping ship to LAL to team up with Dwight.

Imagine this team...

PG: Wade 34
SG: Kobe 36
SF: LeBron 30
PF: Bosh 31
C: Dwight 29

Kobe/Wade might be marginal role players at that point, and make about 10 million combined, but LeBron, Howard, and Bosh will still be in their primes, and LeBron/Howard have at least 2 years of their primes left at that point, which honestly should be enough to get them three titles or more. Kobe could retire as an 8 time NBA champ, Wade as a 7 time champ, and LeBron/Bosh going for their 8th, with Howard going for his 4th.

If there wasn't a team like the Heat I would kinda mind, but with teams like the Heat being formed they kinda have to do it just to compete. Will make for some great basketball next year.

Plus to me they gave up Bynum for Howard which is fair game considering the risk involved and something they will regret when they try to rebuild around Howard.

I don't mind the Lakers though , it will be nice to see Rondo and KG take them down once again.

lol funny. i remember laker/kobe fans saying that SAME exact thing yet it was all ignored by haters this year. everytime someone brought up his 43% shooting, no one except laker fans brought up the fact that they completely switched offenses with no training camp, yet all we read was that he's an overrated chucker, always has been, always will be blah blah blah stuff. hilarious. Nevermind the fact that several games he was the ONLY one to show up. First one comes to mind was his sick game in denver game 6, where were his big men when kobe went off for 31 on over 50% shooting?

Can you imagine? That would blow my frigging mind lol.

I can imagine that Kobe would still be a good shooter/floor spacer, and Wade could easily play the defensive PG with Howard clogging the middle, and LeBron/Bosh/Howard will still be in their primes.

As for the actual salary numbers i'm not positive on what they would be. If Dwight takes the full max in 2014 I would imagine he would be at approximately 21 million giving the Lakers approximately 30 million dollars in cap space to use. Kobe signs a contract for 3 million, Wade signs for 3 million that gies them approximately 24 million to use on LeBron, and Bosh. If each of them takes 10 million dollars that gives them enough wiggle room to do exatly this.

I actually kind of hope this happens lol I want to see if it would be as epic as I think it is.

I think you forgot about Dwight Howard.

And Gasol, who actually is still playing prime ball...but for whatever reason he didn't bring it like usual in the playoffs the past two yrs. With the revamped team, it's pretty likely that he'll have more motivation in the playoffs this year.

The lakers are not unstoppable . Younger teams with good frontcourts can hang with them and beat them. Dwight has a serious back problem. Nash is almost 40. Kobe is on the decline. Pau is on the decline. While they have all star veterans, they still are over the hill and have weaknesses. The lakers better play it cool during the regular season so they can say whatever gas they have left for the playoffs. I think this team, having such high expectations, will not be able to live up to the hype

But nope I am sick or tired of the Lakers getting superstars. This is what championship teams do, get talent to add to their legacy. Some teams are cool with getting into the playoffs every year, which is ok. But there are teams where the focus is on getting that NBA crown, and those teams are the Lakers and Celtics. I aint made at the Lakers. This is what champs do.

Don't worry Miami fan, you still have the most shamelessly stacked team in the league.

And to fall back on, there's all the ref help LeFlop and dwhistle get. LeFlop actually gets a historical level of favoritism from the refs! It's really incredible to watch. That level of ref bias in your back pocket can never be counted out.

Final reason for Miami stans to not lament: Kobe is always capable of deciding he needs to "play outside the system" and end up basically shooting the Lakers out of the game. With his advancing age and lessening athleticism, this trait will become even more damaging than it has been up to this point.
