when BG starts hitting his jumpshots more reliably, do you guys realize how unstoppable he's going to be?...
right now defenders only really have to worry about defending against Blake's drive and post spins, and so they leave a lot of space when defending him on the perimeter... but once he develops a reliable jumper... look out league.. 22/12/3 is just the start

If he can attain the level of dominance that peak Amare Stoudemire had in 2007 and earlier he is doing well. Dropped like 35ppg on Duncan in the 05 or 07 playoffs.

A one footed step-back jumper?:facepalm So many centers and forwards nowadays tryingt of pull off these guard moves, how sickening to watch(Dirk you are forgiven cause you are the DON). Griffin should master the set jumpshot first than any of that other stuff I have seen him trying to do from midrange.

Of course, the guy has gotten progressively worse as he's become totally dependent on flopping for ref calls. :facepalm
Cpflop is to blame here. That's why he can never be considered an all time great. Some players make their teammates better but flop somehow manages to make his teammates worse by rubbing off all his bad habits onto them.

Poor/aloof NBA work ethic. Flake spent all his time last season shooting commercials and selling KIAs rather than practice even the most basic things like free throws. And clipper fans actually expect him to expand his game :oldlol: he can't hardly maintain what he already has.

Besides his ridiculous athleticism, there's really nothing that impresses me about Blake Griffin, although his handles are pretty good for a big. His post moves are awkward and clumsy for the most part, his defense sucks, and his jump shot is pretty bad. He's a good player, but it's mostly because of his athleticism. He needs to expand on his game if he wants to become an elite player. But he's only going into his 3rd season, so I think people are being a little harsh on him.

Right. So someone like Durant is just going to stop getting better? LeBron is going to fall off that much in five years? Dwight Howard? Chris Paul?
Not saying it's not possible, but I'd say Griffin being the best player in the NBA in five years is unlikely.

This Youtube comment from the vid couldn't have summed up Blake Griffin any better:
All I can say is get a 6'8" 300lb bouncer from the club to guard Blake Griffin and he wouldn't score a point the whole game. The guy can't do anything but dunk. Most overrated player in the game. And for the love of God a mouth piece is for protection. Not to chew on like a ****en chew toy the whole game. But he does kinda look like a dog so maybe I should let it slide.

Griffin will get there. He's working on his jump shot, even has a shooting coach. It won't happen over night, but he should have that consistent jumper in time. Once he feels comfortable he will gain confidence and it's a go. A consistent 15 footer would be great. No need for shooting 3's when you are a PF.

However, Blake's statline of 20.7/10.9/3.2/.8/.7 is matched by only like 3 guys all time they were named like kareem or hakeem or some shyt like that. But anyway, you gota be kinda impressed with that

Durant is the most overrated player since Iverson. He's a borderline top 10 player right now. He's the least impressive star right now in the league.
Griffin will easily surpass Howard and Paul (who is just about as overrated as Durant), and should pass lebron because he is a harder worker and a smarter player.
Griffin will eventually develop a pick and pop game and improve on defense.

Griffin shot 27.7% from 10-15 feet. 15.4% were assisted - this shows that Griffin can't create his own shot efficiently.

Blake Griffin can only dunk, but since when was that bad? He has the skills to create those dunks with quick spins and good strength and handles. He's quicker than most PF's and has the skills to take his man off the dribble. Also he's a very good passer.

I said good at hitting his fadeaway, not a good shooter in general. Besides read this and learn something. He shoots the midrange jumper at the same percentage as CARMELO ANTHONY and a bunch of other perimeter players people think have a good shot. Leave it to you to exaggerate and flame a player though. For a young, 2nd year big he's actually got a solid jumper and it will only improve.

Good for Griffin - you want an explosive leaper shooting jumpers at 36% from 16-23 feet, then good for you.
The fact of the matter is that he shoots 27% from 10 to 15 feet, and that's the furtherest away you want your power forward, unless his name is Nowitzki or Love. Before you comment on Love, we know he is far and away a better long range shooter, Griffin is a horrid 3 point shooter, and Love is a prolific 3 point marksman.
I love how you state, "it will only improve." How do you know? The guy is one of the stupider players in the league, and has a very low basketball IQ.

First off he's got a very good basketball IQ. I've said it before and I'll say it again... you can't be a low IQ player if you're a great passer. Literally impossible in the game of basketball. NBA coaches laud players with fake praise all time. Pop was probably doing it to demean Timmy, hoping to inspire him. Pop and Phil are both the media mindgame masters!

It's so obvious that so many people here don't watch the Clippers play and are very biased. Let those girls hate. Griffin is a hard worker and his game will continue to improve. Even if the guy wins a championship and is a future hall of famer..people will continue to hate him for whatever reason. The guy is a good player. Sure he's young and has a ways to go, but for a 2nd year player he's really good and ahead of so many others. If you watch the Clippers you know that he's not a low I.Q. player. Just like another young player he has a bone head play once in awhile. You know he's very unselfish/team player. You know that he's a guy with a high motor. So let things be. In some people's mind they can't accept change. Clippers are good..no that can't be allowed.

I love the cliche "without his athleticism he'd be nothing" line...
Without his size, Shaq would be nothing. Stfu noobs
He's freaking 23 years old. Played in the league 2 years. Do you not remember young T-Mac? Couldn't shoot. Dedicated one summer and he became the scoring champion dropping 3's all over the place. You guys have to relax
Can't play defense cause of his short arms? There are plenty of people without long arms that play great defense. It's about instincts and timing, things you have when you come in the league, and things you learn as you're in the league as well.
Not only that, but the fact that his biggest flaw is the fact that he plays passive defense just to stay out of foul trouble. That's what he was taught in college and has not been corrected yet while he's been in the NBA.
Griffin has great handles, great court vision, and a very good touch around the basket. He has post moves but doesn't think to use them too often, another thing that will come with time and experience. Post moves can be taught. Jump shots can be taught. Free throws can be taught.
Jose Calderon was one of the worst free throw shooters in the L, dedicated one summer and almost had the league record in free throw percentage. The key is dedication and hard work.. something that you guys discount and ignore way too often. You're just hating to hate... And it's blatantly obvious. It's just funny how you hate on someone who has played for 2 years and has his whole career ahead of him to improve. Not to mention he's already a player that commands double teams and makes teams change their game plans.

:applause:
I will add though that I think has great potential because his attitude. He's not like Lebron, Dwight or Kobe where he just opens his mouth and Stupidity comes out. Kobe and Lebron learned that after 04 and the decision that is why they just talk crap when they need to.

Honestly, I think his fame got to his head this last year, but then again sophomore slumps are common.
He needs to go back to his hard working attitude and he'll be fine.

Coulda sworn it was Calderon I was thinking of. I'm thinking of a different free throw shooter. Thanks for the good catch.. and the laughs :D

He hired a full time shooting coach immediately after the playoffs who he works with daily and said he's changed his form already shooting at the peak rather than on the way down now.
that leg raised up looks weird :biggums:
Dirk does it with great effectiveness.:pimp:

Sweet, maybe now he'll back iron them instead of front iron.

He didn't get worse he scored less because he took less shots he averaged less assists because he played with more ball dominant players and he averaged less rebounds because of better rebounders being on the team. Blake was more efficient he had a better jumpshot and improved his defense.

^Very true. If you watched Clipper games you would know this. In his first season Griffin was the only option practically since Eric Gordon spent a chuck of the season injured. Griffin carried the team that first season. In his second season he had a better team around him. More ball dominate teammates, teammates that could score much more and he got less touches. His jump shot was much improved over his rookie year, but still needs lots to be desired. His defense has improved. He just needs to put more effort on that end. His rebounding numbers took a small dip due to having better rebounders around him and also because he was taking more mid range shots.

The only area Blake got worse in was free throw shooting and its the only thing holding him back from being a true superstar. His mid range shooting, defense, and post game needs some improvement but they'll be able to improve through experience.
