How did Cousy get in over Pippen? This list will be a bad joke if Pippen falls out of the top 30. The disrespect Pippen gets :facepalm
The man has 6 rings and was a star for all of those rings. One of the greatest all around players ever. How many weaknesses did prime Pippen have? Yeah, barely any at all.

Dwyane Wade. Needs to be here or 28.
Scottie Pippen.
The GOAT perimeter defender, MVP caliber player, and at least a top 5 player (and the best all-around player) and the best SF in his prime. 6 rings, 9 conference finals, and 16 consecutive years in the playoffs. One of the best rebounding small forwards of all time, one of the best play making forwards of all time, a leader on the court and a winner, plus a long, athletic player who gave you over 20+ ppg.
6'8" with a 7'2" wingspan, but he pretty much played point guard offensively, a great finisher, excellent basketball IQ, deadly in transition, good post up player, capable 3 point shooter, he could rebound as well as some power forwards and one of the rare perimeter players who could impact a game defensively like an elite defensive big man.

Coincidence?
That being said, my vote is for Scottie Pippen.

It diminishes Michael Jordan's share of championship responsibility to bolster Pippen's status.

Rick Barry was a FMVP, a NBA Champion, a 1st All-NBA teamer, a NBA All-Star and a Rookie of the Year that was the undisputed best player in the NBA in 1975... Ever heard discussions about "Which player won the champinship with the least help", the answer is here... Rick Barry... in 1975 he carried a bunch of scrubs/roleplayers while averaging 31-6-6-3-1 that year to a Championship over the most stacked and best team in the NBA at that time.... the Washington Bullets, who had Elvin Hayes (23-12-3), Phil Chenier (22-4-3), Wes Unseld (11-17-4), Kevin Porter (led the league in assists that year) and so on, they had the best record in the NBA, were just toying with everybody, they were the heavy favorites to win..... Rick Barry SWEPT that team in the Finals with amazing clutch play & performance...... as for the other years in the playoffs, he made sure he went out guns blazing with playoff runs like 40-10-3, 35-8-4, 28-6-6, 34-12-4, 31-7-4 and so on....
As a player he was one of the best shooters in NBA history and one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history accumulating over 25000 points @ 25 PPG, he had seasons of like 34.0 PPG and 35.6 PPG and so on... fantastic all-round playing pure shooter a la Larry Bird actually, Rick Barry was one of the first "point-forwards" ever........... except maybe besides passing Rick Barry could do ANYTHING just as well as Larry Bird could and some stuff probably even better (Scoring, Ballhandling and arguably Defense)....

Wade is getting underrated here...
He used to be considered "almost as good as LeBron", with a "better peak than Kobe"... Not saying I agree with any of this, but it reveals how highly regarded he was.
Rick Barry definitely has a case here, as well as guys like Willis Reed, but my vote goes to DWade.
Again, let's keep in mind DWade has only played 9 years in the league so far. He's likely to end up with one or two more championships in 3-4 years as a clear second option, in addition to the one he earned as the best player on his team. When it's all said and done Wade will be higher than he is now.

Exactly. And that's why he doesn't deserve to be ranked ahead of a true legend like Rick Barry. At least not yet.
Voting for Wade over Barry is criminal. Check out the record books.

Rick Barry: 25,279
Dwyane Wade: 14,990
Career rebounds:
Rick Barry: 6,863
Dwyane Wade: 3,020

Rick Barry: 4,952
Dwyane Wade: 3,697
League leader accomplishments:
Rick Barry: Led league in FT% 7 times, PPG 1 time, SPG 1 time
Dwyane Wade: Led league in PPG 1 time
All-Star Games:
Rick Barry: 12 (includes 4 in the ABA - he would have been an NBA All-Star those years too)
Dwyane Wade: 8
All-NBA 1st Team:
Rick Barry: 10 (includes 4 in the ABA - he would have been All-NBA 1st Team those years too)
Dwyane Wade: 2

FT% is a category that we "count"?

Ok. Disregard my 'true legend' comment then. Both are/were superstars.
But Rick Barry had the better career; Rick Barry has the better numbers; Dwyane Wade hasn't even finished his career yet. If he wins a few more championships and puts up another 10,000 points, then he deserves to be ranked ahead of Barry.
Not yet though.
Rick Barry's career was greater than Dwyane Wade's, so far.

While I have nothing against rick Barry and pointed out his greatness many votes ago....
Nothing he did after his 9th season is why hes ranked this high. If hes better than Wade is because of what each of them did their first 9 years. Wade isnt getting better and Barry didnt either. Barry won a good number of games but Wade is about to as well. Barry led his title team at 30 Wade did his at what? 23? But both only led one and will never do it as best player again barring an injury to Lebron.
The players they are have already been established. The rest is just career padding. But the core is complete. The people they are/were who get compared to others...those players have come and arguably gone. I dont see Wade playing 05-2010 ball again but its possible....
What isnt possible is him getting better.
Hes pretty much what hes gonna be. Just gonna stack career totals and shit on top of it. But hes not getting any better. Why should more years as a worse player increase his standing?

And that makes the argument for Rick Barry even more convincing, since Wade is unlikely to garner many All-NBA 1st Team accolades from now on. As you said, the rest is just padding ;)

09-09-2012, 09:57 AM
Wade is who he is. In 20 years when hes ranked...when people ask "Wade vs __" they mean a player who has already either come and gone or has come and isnt quite gone. The padding at the end is irrelevant. I care as much about what Wade does from now on as I do about what Ewing did after 96 or so when asked how good he is.
I dont care about Ricky Barry on the rockets either. It just doesnt matter.

So if Wade won three or four more championships, it wouldn't change your opinion of him?
Kblaze8855
09-09-2012, 10:54 AM
By the time Wade could win them he would be far worse than he was at his best. And what interest should I have in how good someone was outside their time as the player to be remembered?
Wade is who he was 05-2011 or maybe for another year or two. barry is who he was from the late 60s until 1976 or so.
What they do while being led to it by others isnt what I feel is most important.
To me...Kareem could have retired in 1984. Hes still top 5 and arguably #1. I didnt need MJ to come back for 3 more rings to have him where he is either.
Its legacy shit. Mostly for use by generations of unborn fans who wont actually know anything about the players in question. When thats all you have...its all you have. But I know Wade. I know him...college to now.
Nothing hes gonna do from here on out gives me information I need to know how good he is.
