Bron is easily top 15, sure he gets a boost because he just came off a title and FMVP ... I'd put him slightly ahead of Jerry West, maybe even Oscar. #12 or #13 is the correct spot for him.

Karl Malone is the most overrated of the players currently listed.

A ring next year for him would bump him to 11 IMO.

oh really? a ring next year would bump him into the top 10 knocking hakeem out of the way without any discussion.

Anyways my vote is Dwyane Wade.
How the hell would he knock off Hakeem when Hakeem has 2 RINGS, and all of them are more impressive.
lmao at no discussion, because you're right, Lebron won't have a discussion for being over Hakeem.

That and the center position was pretty much loaded with the likes of Kareem, Cowens, Walton, and Moses.

McAdoo also had a short prime, but a peak very much comparable to peak Kareem.

I am not really sure if you are serious? If Lebron gets another ring or has another similar year this is how his career will look like compared to Hakeem at the end of the upcoming season:

.................LEBRON............HAKEEM.......
MVP..............3-4.....................1............
FMVP..............2......................2........ ....
CHAMP............2......................2......... ..
ROTY.............Yes...................No......... .
DPOY..............0......................2........ ...
1st All-NBA......7......................6...........
1st All-Def.......5......................5...........
All-Star...........9.....................12...........
All-Star MVP....2.......................0...........
PPG...............28....................22........ ..
RPG................7.....................11....... ...
APG................7......................2....... ...
SPG................2......................2....... ...
BPG................1......................3....... ...
PER Rating.....27.2.................23.6........

Not to mention Lebron was the best player in the NBA for much longer than Hakeem, who was the best player in the NBA 2 times and won those 2 championships mostly because the actual best player in the NBA was on vacation.... Lebron didnt need that handicap, he chewed of everybodies superman capes to become the best and become this successful...

:confusedshrug:

What criteria could you POSSIBLY go after to devaluate such a more accomplished career?

I know Lebrons success in every facit of the game and so quickly in such a short time comes like a shocker to many of you, but you need to deal with it...

there would be a lot of discussing about that lol. another ring puts him in the conversation of Oscar/West/Moses Malone who respectively are 11,12,13 (in real life not ish). So another ring would at best get him the 11th slot and at worst the 13th. Currently he is somewhere around 14-16 and has a similar career to Julius Erving (yes i'm including ABA because there was two professional leagues back then).

I agree though that if he gets another MVP and ring, that he would automatically bump Hakeem. Ultimately I believe Bron will end up in the 6-8 slot, but if he just starts racking up rings galore or a bunch of mvp's then he will get that top 5 slot.

its hard to pick out of wade and stockton because Wade has that super duper star quality but stockton has stamped his mark on the league more firmly then wade.

Ima go with Stockton!!!!!

think about it like this, if wade retired today due to knees or something, this guy would not be remembered as much 30 years from now. On the other hand stockton would still be the all-time leader in assists and steals and that will be remembered. Wade should definitely get that 30th spot though.

So far, don't like Garnett at 16( I'd put him closer to 18-21 spot), Dirk should be around 25th, not 22nd. Mikan's tough to rank because of how far back he played, so I guess you'd have to look at accomplishments. I'd put Pippen around 29th or 30th.

At first I didn't like Lebron at 11, and I think he catches alot of flack for the 2011 finals( on some level justified). But you can't deny that he's already got a career's worth of accomplishments in 9 seasons, or his overall dominance.

Anyways, I'm going to go with D-Wade at #29. Though that seems a bit low for some reason.....

There's many picks I don't know about. Anyways, it's a random list by random people. Who cares? Ask me tomorrow and I'll probably say Stockton should be #29.

When all is said and done Wade will be a top 5 SG.

Reggie I think is 3rd right now. He just never had a team to win it all.
He had good teams but not great. I also give Reggie a huge nod for staying in a small market.

Iverson is an MVP. I'd take Nash over Wade as well.

Nash has as many MVPs as Shaq and Kobe combined. If that's your logic, not much sense arguing with you further.

As an all-around, more efficient player, Wade is easily better than Iverson. Was Iverson the more explosive scorer? Yeah, but at what cost to team cohesion and efficiency? Wade at his peak was good for 27-30 points on 48-50% shooting. And are you going to bring up MVP awards while completely ignoring that Wade has a finals MVP and two rings where he played a prominent role?

...and those points include a gamewinner & mostly 4th quarter points...

Not saying Reggie > Wade, i am just speaking of that comment of yours.

Watching Reggies statsheet doesnt do him justice, he lived for the clutch & playoffs (take a look at his Playoff series numbers and clutch stats/gamewinners/points in the 4th quarter), thats what he lived for...

You hear that phrase "Playoffs & Clutch is what he lived for" amongst many all-time greats... no, Reggie was not like that... Reggie LITERALLY lived for it... He was a guy that would just for the lols let you drop 40 points, have your fun, conserve his energy, think that you are gona win, wait until there is some seconds left.. then go up to you and say "Watch me win this game" and then unleash his "18 PPG" in a hurry and then giving you the choke sign, then walk away and give a compliment to your 40 points... He was a real troll...

Everybody hated his guts, not for just trashtalking like ****... but for being able to back it up... Watching Reggie as the opposing fan was sometimes like watching a Horror movie but where the Villain ends up victorious...

There is a reason Reggie is the only guy that ever got under Jordans skin, many times...

You can't be serious.
He can. Given both derived their value primarily from scoring and Gervin was a four time scoring champion and Miller once finished in the top ten points per game scorers (8th in 1989-90) and both did it on impressive percentages (Miller's being superior when accounting for threes, but on significantly lower usage). Gervin probably created more of his own shots too, rather than getting the ball off picks.
Now Gervin was a lousy defender and Reggie at least gave effort on that end but from all the GOAT type lists I've seen I can't recall one which considered Miller superior (just checked my database and my hunch was correct, and 9 of those lists are since the end of Reggie's career and a few more are after the end of his prime).

Both were career "losers", if were going to talk about winning. And I honestly don't know about "effect" on the NBA. Gervin played some of his earlier years in the ABA, but I would still think he would be much more recognized than Miller.

Miller was a far better defender, and you would struggle to find any basketball mind that would take Gervin over Miller.

Give me Gervin quite easily over Miller.

You say his defense is better, which I won't really argue, but that doesn't put him over Gervin.

Career wise:

Raz, just looking at numbers, I don't really see what Miller is doing outside of shooting/defense that puts him over Gervin.

Also, you put your stock into accolades and MVP voting... Then it clearly does become Gervin.

Gervin made 9 All-NBA teams, 5x First Team. Miller made 3 All-NBA team, all of them Third Team.

Gervin has been in the the Top 10 for MVP voting 6 times, Top 5 for MVP voting 4 times, Top 3 for MVP voting 3 times, and a Runner up for MVP 2 times (to Bill Walton and Moses Malone).

Miller ? Has gotten MVP votes 2 times in his career... his highest MVP voting has been 13th place.

Miller has less MVP votes than Darrell Armstrong, Terrell Brandon and a list of others, but he's better than George Gervin ?

It's not even really that close to me. I think your really overrating Miller here.

For the guards debate, I see it like this:

Gary Payton vs John Stockton vs Walt Fraizer vs Dwyane Wade vs George Gervin vs Allen Iverson vs Clyde Drexler vs .... at least for next couple of rounds

For the forwards debate, I see it like this:

Elvin Hayes vs Kevin McHale vs Dolph Schayes vs Dominique Wilkins vs... at least for the next couple of rounds

For the centers debate, I see it like this:

Patrick Ewing vs Willis Reed vs Dave Cowens vs Bill Walton vs Nate Thurmond vs Walt Bellamy vs Dwight Howard vs Alonzo Mourning... at least for the next couple of rounds

More guards and centers should be taken next.

Legends66NBA7, it's good to see someone mentioning Dolph Schayes. He'll certainly be one of my picks in the near future.

Would have named more forwards, but like I mentioned, I think more of my selections for guards and centers will go first.

You would have been laughed at unmercifully if you said Stockton was better than Ewing, when they were both playing. It's amazing how history rewrites careers.

Thanks for the correction.

In that case:

- John Stockton
- Walt Frazier
- Dwyane Wade
- Willis Reed
- Elvin Hayes

Followed by

- Kevin McHale
- Dave Cowens
- Jason Kidd
- Allen Iverson
- George Gervin

etc.

Should make for some interesting debates.

Where is Wes Unseld?

He'll come later, I think. Either makes the cut or is just outside the Top 50.

I believe it goes:
1. Jordan
2. Bryant
3. West
4. Drexler
5. Iverson
6. Miller
7. Wade
OT, imagine an Oscar Robertson/ Allen Iverson backcourt. Has there ever been a better pairing?

as in "Reggie Miller"
