Apple has had the same cable for all it's units since 2001. The same cable works on ever Ipod ever made (except the very first one, Shuffle?) The same cable works on every iPhone and every iPad. It plugs into anything that has a USB port, it can act as a data transfer or charging cable. Like if I have an iHome that uses the old iPod connector, I have to buy a new $30 adapter so that it works with the new iPhone. This wouldn't be a problem if majority of users already have expensive gadgets that interface with the older models. If I want to use my iHome with my new iPhone, I have to spend an additional $30 for every gadget I use my iPhone with (or carry one around everywhere I go in the house).
