And yes, they use the same exact backboards that the NBA uses.

After the game, Dorsey was asked how much he weighs, and he said 275 pounds.

I'm not sure if the backboard was defective or not, since they are supposed to handle up to 400 pounds.

I once weighted 275lbs, but that was because of an eating disorder I had on account of kids calling me skin and bones as a kid. Years later I grew out of my skinny physique into rather a large human being. I used to eat1 12 eggs and 5 sausage patties for breakfast topped off w/ a french toast/pancake sampler. Washed down with 1qt of whole milk, and 3 cups of orange juize with whipped cream ontop.

For an early snack I would steal my dogs 'beggin strips, and guzzle a 2 liter of coca cola 'xtra calorie addition. Then for lunch I would wolf down 3 big mac's and the all you can eat french fry free-for all at mcdonalds.

Dinner time was a different story all together, I would go to Golden Corral and stay for 4 hours. The owner at one point asked me to leave, but I said, "no way jose" and ate like a beast

its not an nba backboard because its impossible to break them since the rim is not connected to any part of the glass anymore. theres a hole cut and the rims are connected straight to the support beam. the backboard isnt put through a single bit of stress from any dunk in the nba

that was obviously some second rate fiba net

http://www.sport24.gr/Basket/OmadesBasket/A1Olympiakos/article1926553.ece/BINARY/w460/ol.jpgNot to be contradictory, but I actually think FIBA baskets feature different rim systems, which as small of a detail as it may seem, could in fact make the difference in terms of shatterability.

Here's a somewhat close shot of the NBA's rims for comparison:

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rLz81lxxSWk/TxxjqUxS3FI/AAAAAAAAA_A/R82QXatTPHw/s1600/Blake+Griffin+Dunks+On+Kris+Humphries.jpg

Even with that said, it's still a pretty awesome clip. Regardless of the rim used, a support behind the rim itself is supposed to chop down on the ability to shatter a backboard. It actually warms my heart to know it's still possible to pull off on that type of stanchion. Though, it was a strange and unique shatter. Usually, it seems the glass tends to break upon the initial force (often from the weight of one's body collapsing on the rim). It was weird to see Graham dunk, hang, then have the backboard shatter.

Again though, I appreciate the clip.

I hate to burst your bubble, but FIBA has the same regulations as the NBA does. That is why I wondered if it might have been defective.

Has nothing to do with the glass and everything to do with the type of rim used and how it's set up. The glass used on backboards in the NBA can be broken, just not with the way the rims are set up. It doesn't allow for it. Just like how they changed the hydraulics after Shaq took an entire goal down.

FIBA uses a double rim, no? The NBA doesn't use double rims. So, FIBA doesn't use the same thing the NBA does, Euroleague. If they did, they wouldn't have people breaking backboards.

YES they do. It's the SAME exact regulations, made by the SAME exact company.

Big Sofo broke numerous rims and backboards and took down an entire goal just like Shaq did, so they had to start using the same ones the NBA uses.

Stop spreading lies.

They fake sh*t overseas all the time, Euroleague is BROKE they can't afford NBA hoops / balls / legitimate star-caliber players. NBA backboards are made by trained craftsman, where as Euroleague's bootleg "look-alike" backboards are crudely assembled - stamped in factories by children in some obscure province of China. Your the one who needs to stop spreading lies, even on paper Euroleague is not even as good as the NBA's D-league

The Greek National Team (stacked with half a dozen of Euroleague's most dominant superstars) lost to Nigeria's team lead by Ike Diogu :facepalm

Euroleague manufactures a much cheaper backboard to save costs throughout the season.

So what your are trying to say is that science is wrong and you are right? If you check the video someone posted on the first page you'd clearly see that according to the Sport Science show its impossible to break the backboard of the ones they use in the NBA. So obviously, if they used the same backboard then Joey Dorsey has no chance of breaking that backboard. Not even a piano managed to break the backboard.

Thats why they use some fake bootleg cheap backboards in Europe and not the same as NBA.

FYI they can handle way more than 400 pounds of force. They tied a piano to the rim and dropped it and the piano bent the rim before it broke the glass. Sounds like a defective rim. Impressive though.

Dorsey claimed to be Ray Lewis with a basketball when he was first drafted, yet couldn't even beat Chuck Hayes for playing time.
