Actually i remember kobe exact height in cms to be exact 193-194.Which is rougly 6'4.
Lebron height is his rookie listing. So its likely that he grew considering NBA players listed heights are with shoes. He said 6'9
There are some serious downgrades as well.Like KD he is well above 6'9.
Another player KG who didnt wanted to be listed 7 footer so that he didnt have to play center.
Howard listed height is pretty bad as well.I mean he is shorter than KD and he is listed at 6'11.I saw several pictures where lebron and howard stood next to each other where i couldnt tell who is taller. At best he is 6'9(because of his freakish ath. and his long arms he plays like a legit 7 footer though thats not the point)
However i think most notable height cheat belongs to joel anthony. He is listed at 6'9 and i even saw 6'10.He is at best 6'7.He is shorter than lebron.Thats 2-2.5'(5-6cm difference).Thats with shoes.
From legends charles barkley was at best 6'4 however he is listed as 6'6 to play PF.

I don't know if you guys have heard of these things called shoes, but the NBA measures the player in them and it gives them an extra inch or two.

6"9.5 in shoes @ the combine, do you expect them to round up or down?
Like I said, willfully ignorant, the numbers that you point to saying he's 6"7 3/4th without shoes show him as 6"9 and a half with shoes on, in the column right next to it.
It doesn't take a genius to figure out they're going to round up.

Oh cut the shit - he's 6-7.75 and NOBODY SHOULD CARE ABOUT HEIGHT IN SHOES because at draft camps draftexpress explicitly states that players try to CHEAT the system and wear bigger shoes than they intend to play the game with. Plus no two shoes are alike in size. Plus when's the last time you went to the doctor and he measured your height with your ****ing shoes on...
should we measure the height of Hockey players on skates now? Football players in their helmets and cleats? A persons height is only fair to measure w/o the variable of "shoes" misleading people.

Measurements are inflated in today's game. Just like everything else in the NBA today. Well what really counts can these guys play.
yeah, most players are listed about 1-2 inches more than what they are. this happens in college and high school levels too.
this past summer, a local college basketball player walked by my son and i playing ball and said hello. he's listed at 6-8 but i swear he was barely taller than i am at 6-5.

Then how tall do you think he was - are u suggesting he grew since then? Because he quite clearly isn't 6-2
He was listed 6-3 in the NBA
He claims in his autobiography he is "just over 6-4 w/o shoes"
And he claims in an interview (that I will upload the audio for) that he is 6-4.5
And he looks as tall or very nearly so as the listed 6-5 Oscar Robertson in many pictures from his playing days, and he looks as tall as Dwyane Wade (6-3.75) and surprisingly close to the height of Kobe (6-4.75)
Whats your best guesstimate on his height?

We were at a pub in Brentwood, CA that my roommate had told me he had seen him visit a few times. I actually was half hoping (more than half actually) to run into him when we decided to go there. When I saw him at the bar ordering a drink, I took my cue, but decided not to acknowledge who he was :facepalm
6'3" w/o shoes would be the most generous I could estimate and definitely not more than that (we were both wearing shoes ;~) ), and I would say closer to 6'2" (the same height as my father so I had a good frame of reference). I had always read during his playing days that he was 6'4" (I assumed w/o shoes since people are not born with shoes on), and was a little disappointed for some odd reason to find out he was not as tall as I had thought.
As for photographs of two people standing more or less next to each other, I have learned (as a very enthusiastic photographer myself), is not a great way to clearly compare height between two individuals.
I have to believe that MANY players are not actually as tall as advertised. There is a great story about Darrel Imhoff being measured. The Lakers had acquired him and he got drafted. If you were over 6'8", you got exempted and it was/is widely believed that you 'settle' throughout the day. So, when they took Imhoff to get measured, they allegedly got him up first thing in the morning, loaded him into an ambulance without him ever standing up, and hauled him to the induction center. He was supposedly 6'8" on the dot and was able to keep playing ball.

Ive walked past Blake Griffin, he aint no taller than Rob Gronkowski who is 6'7.
Height listings in the NBA are a joke, mates. And no it aint just because of the shoes. They basically just lump players by position, centers and tall power forwards are 7 feet, shorter power forwards are listed 6'10, small forwards are 6'8 or 6'9 and so on.
Nobody should be takin them listings seriously mates, theyre mostly hogwash.

Not only that mate but in shoes you can tiptoe a bit and nobody can really tell. Its completely unreliable.
The NBA wants players to seem taller because it makes their skill and abilities seem more impressive and gives them a larger than life image.

The only people who constantly complain about the height of the players are those with the tired angle and agenda to say "Players aren't bigger today!". Did you even play basketball in HS? Everyone had their height listed in shoes or the coach would embellish.
Like I said, it doesn't take a genius to figure out the vast majority of players have their height listed with shoes on, why is this such a difficult concept for you to grasp? This thread is made time after time by you clowns, over and over by the same people.

Dwight is still shorter than Bill Russell who measured 6-9 and 5/8ths w/o shoes back in 1955 and now in encounters with Dwight he's 70 years old and likely lost a bit of height so if Dwight did grow (which is purely speculative) I can't see it being plausible that he exceeded 6-9.5 w/o shoes. For a center he's medium/short in height - not as short as some centers of the past but def not near a 7 footer, long armed, and wide bodied with incredible athleticism - and high body mass. He doesn't need to be tall to do his job. In fact, a lot of successfull NBA centers were about his height (Hakeem, Willis Reed) or shorter (Ben Wallace, Wes Unseld)
Griffin. Stood next to him in OKC airport. More than one person said we're the same height; one said I'm taller.
I'm somewhere between 6'7" - 6'8" .

The only thing that bothers me about this is in 2K, it makes former players look like midgets. Damn Jerry West is 6'2 in the game and I thought he'd be closer to 6'4 based on youtube highlights.
2K isn't even consistent too. I do recall Bill Russell being listed as 6'9 or 6'10 in the game (obviously adjusted)

www.draftexpress.com/measurements has Wade in the system, and he was no less than 6-3.75" w/o shoes. And Kobe was interviewed a few years ago in the NY Times and said his wife measured him at 6-4.75". Both of these numbers fit accordingly with what one would guess looking at them in comparison to other players who's real measurements have been recorded (such as MJ, 6-4.88" - who looks about identical to Kobe in height)
