Still no Rodman..:facepalm
The greatest rebounder and top 5 defender of all time.. Can effectively guard any position.. The only player that gives Prime Shaq some headache inside the court.. If people here put Bill Russell in their top 10 because of his defense why not put Rodman in your top 50.. They're quite close in defense, the only advantage Bill had was his 11 rings in a weak era.. Rodman 5 rings in a much competitive era >>> 11 rings in a weak era full of 5ft white nonathletic white boy..

Dennis Rodman. How does a guy with his accomplishments fall so low. This man was able to D up Jordan, Pippen, Malone, Shaq, Mourning, Drexler, and gave all of them fits.
You can't have a legit conversation of who the greatest defender is alltime without including Rodman. The same holds true for Rebounding.
Not to mention Phil Jackson called him the greatest athlete he's ever seen.
This is hysterical that's he hasn't been picked yet.

I don't get the love for Rodman. He was never better than the 2nd best player on a team and was never even a top 10 MVP candidate. He also only made 2 allstar teams. If a guy who only made 2 allstar teams is top 50 worthy all time, then you need to check what you consider guys who are constantly allstars and who are in the MVP rankings yearly. Hell Tony Parker has more allstar appearances and been higher in MVP rankings and I don't consider him anywhere near top 50 all time. Also what about guys like Sidney Moncrief (an elite player on a great team and the best player on his teams in Milwaukee)?

Paul "Top 50 player of all-time, top 10 SF of all-time" Pierce. lol at Rodman getting votes, it's further evidence that he is overrated. Rodman was a role player and nothing more. He was never even a 3rd or 4th option on a team.

So is Ben Wallace and he was actually a better defender than Rodman was, yet Rodman gets votes and Wallace.
lol at this, Rodman is so overrated it's not even funny and I'm far from a Rodman hater.
Saying Rodman is top 50 is the equivalent of saying Gary Payton is top 15.

James worthy has three titles and an nba finals MVP
So does Dennis Johnson, when are you voting for him? Plus DJ was all-NBA and defensive first team, so he must be top 40 right?
Tony Parker has three titles and a finals MVP, he top 50?
Dumars has two titles and a finals MVP so does Cornbread Maxwell. Both top 55-60?

5 rings (two different teams)
8 season with more than 14 RPG compared to Ben's 1
that's why i'm voting for Rodman and not Big Ben

So even though Ben was better than Dennis, because Dennis was put in a better situation, that means he is greater? That makes just about no sense.
Vote Robert Horry while you are at it.

Ben is one of the best rebounders of all-time too and Ben is also one of the best defensive players of all-time and was a defensive anchor. Rodman was not a defensive anchor. He was a versatile defender but he couldn't anchor a defense and block/alter shots the way Ben could.

Ben Wallace was actually the best player on the 2004 Pistons and the only player who made the allstar team. Not to mention he finished much higher in MVP voting than anyone else on that team. Rodman on that team and that team loses to New Jersey in the 2nd round. Rodman needs veteran leadership on a team to do anything. He sabatoged 2 seasons with San Antonio.

Rodman is a hard one to call. He pretty much makes you decide if greatest player even considers the 95% of the time a player is not scoring. because he was good to all time great at all of it ball handling aside. Just about everything that happens on a basketball court...that isnt for the purpose of scoring? He was good to great.
Might be the GOAT rebounder. An all time great man to man defender. He was a smart team defender. He could pass. Run the floor well. By all accounts he was as hard a worker as anyone ever saw. set great screens. Defended all 5 positions at one time or another(he guarded everyone from guards to Shaq).
Hes not scoring...but for 6 years in a row hes getting 6 offensive rebounds a game. How do you disregard 6 extra possessions a game? He has 10 points..but 34 rebounds...18 on offense(game vs the Pacers....it happened)? And the teams wins a close game? Why does it matter he didnt put the points on the board himself? who is more responsible for them when hes creating the possession from scratch?
Is Rodman going to make the Bobcats improve more than Pierce in his prime? No.
Is he..."greater"?
Im not sure he isnt.

http://moonraking.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/pierce.jpg
His act in the 2008 Finals was one of the most heroic basketball moments I've ever seen. This guy went down with an injury and he couldn't even walk. His teammates had to CARRY HIM. How many games did he miss? None. He came right back out and DOMINATED the Finals showing everyone that he was the best player in that entire series. That moment was the turning point of the finals and Paul Pierce is primarily responsible for ending the Celtics(one of the greatest franchises in all of sports) 20+ year title drought. His heart was tremendous. Noone could stop him in that series. His sheer determination could not be matched. Paul Pierce is a champion and willed his team to a title over all odds. He deserves to be in the top 50.

Paul Pierce. C'mon guys. I know he played with great team mates, but he still won a ring and played exceptional in the finals. He's been a good forward throughout, and the only thing I'd like to criticize is his handles are Goddawful, but he does everything else pretty well

I'd argue Cunningham didn't have as good of longevity as Pierce. Truth be told I'd say Greer>Cunningham. That, and I feel Cunningham's era was wek when he peaked (the 70s are the weakest era IMO)
As for Worthy, Pierce has had better defense and I'd say a little better with playing as 'the guy'

How does Pierce have god awful handles? He was a pretty good ball-handler and could play point forward. He usually does run point when Rondo is out whether it's when Rondo is on the bench or not playing.
He just wasn't very flashy. He didn't have killer crossovers like Iverson and Wade did but he was still effective.
