Now that Kobe isn't going to be the facilitator anymore, where do we rank his PG abilities now that he's going back to his natural shooting guard position?

Not just that, but I think when he did not with Rookie of the Year and MVP (Wes Unseld won both) back in 1969, he said that he was more accomplished because he won the scoring title that year instead.

the thing that confounds me the most is why after all these years, after hundreds of games all the titles all the accolades Kobe has received there are those that still look for fault in everything Kobe does.

Cracks me up because i'd assume that as a basketball fan how could you not embrace a guy who has given so much of himself to the sport we love because he loves it even more than we do.

There's so many guys in the league who go through the motions or who are in for the money first and yet in Kobe you have this man that we know would give the same effort to the game if he had to do it for free as he does getting paid.

Yet some people just dismiss everything he's given to the sport because he's cocky or arrogant.

Kareem suffered the same in many ways, he didn't communicate well with the media, he didn't suffer fools gladly and was branded as a malcontent. Fact is he is arguably the greatest to ever play the game and all the things people use to bring him down actually have nothing to do with his on court play or what he gave to the game of basketball for over 25 years.

People let the media or outside influences shape their personal opinion of somebody they never met or met in passing too easily.

It's sad that people have to go to the extreme lengths to call the NBA a corrupt league that's controlled by Stern rather than to credit Kobe for his grand accomplishments. This is how irrational jealous hate can make you feel.

Yeah, that's "big veto's" line. Stern gave the Lakers ALL their titles, cuz he loves the Lakers so much. According to the idiot, the Heat only won last season cuz Stern felt sorry for Lebron and gave him a title, like he's been doing for the Lakers since 1984. Which, by his own admission, means, Lebron isn't that great, since Stern will ALWAYS favor Kobe over Lebron:roll:

Kobe needs to score for the Lakers to win, but he can't take 23 shots a game. If you can get Kobe going, and then have Nash involve Dwight and Gasol, that's when the Lakers have a chance.

But shiiiiit. Miami will still whoop DAT ASS. Have a lineup of Chalmers/Wade/LeBron/Haslem/Bosh. The bodies are still there as well, Anthony and Pittman. I actually feel comfortable if Miami has to play LA. Ton of help coming off the bench too in Battier, Allen, Lewis, Miller, Jones, Cole, Anthony and Pittman. LESSGO HEATT!

It has a lot to with Kobe being a very polarizing figure too. The Colorado incident, his feuds with players in the past, his feud Phil Jackson, etc... don't really help things either (although, he has patched up his past relationships for the most part, as well as image to the public).

I do think Kobe will be respected more when he's retired and 5-10 years have gone by. In more than 20+ years, I think younger fans who never got a chance to see him play live and see his highlight games and resume will respect even more too.

I do agree a lot of with your last part. There's a double meaning to it, off course. I think media influences a lot of people to think too highly and overrate some of today's players and Kobe is part of that. Even without hype, it's hard to disregard what Kobe has done and is pretty much an all-time great in any era.

what bodies? Miami's frontcourt is trash. Not sure why you would feel comfortable with Pittman and Anthony. Miami just never faced teams last year who could take advantage of the lack of size. for Miami to repeat those shooters will need to shoot at a high clip which if they get the right looks could well happen again.

As for Kobe's comment yeah he's right there are alot of dumb people when talking about Kobe. It's quite laughable some of the things haters say...it's like they watch games with blindfolds on.

If you look at his career accomplishments, and then take into consideration that majority of people have him anywhere between 6-10 on their GOAT list then no, he is not overrated at al.
