That really sucks for Dallas. Good thing they picked up Elton Brand though. So who becomes premier fantasy pick on the Mavs? Mayo, Brand or Kaman?

What do you think Dallas' record will be when Dirk returns.

5-11?

With no more jason terry and no dirk to start the season, Dallas is really gonna need someone to step up and score. Maybe this will finally be OJ's time to step into the spotlight.

I've been going with brand.. OJ is fickle and Kaman is ADD.

Crowder. That should open up 25 minutes for him. He

Good for development of younger players who will have to step up. Also while Brand isn't anywhere near all star anymore he's still very capable of holding it down while Dirk is gone. The guy is still a tier 1 defensive PF just a step below KG.

Knew it was coming. Atleast it's over with now.

As a Mavs fan, I'd rather see this happen now then in the mid/late season. Time for others to step up and this is a great opportunity for Crowder.

This could be a blessing in disguise for the Mavs.
First, because Dirk holding out surgery would've been a really terrible decision in the long run.
Secondly, because it'll force his teammates, particularly the newer guys, to step up, making the team stronger overall.

Elton Brand is a better partner for Kaman...with that said, Dirk is still the best PF in the league.

Maybe it will get Kaman worked in to the team. Brand can still play defense, he should be good. Their offense is also better than Philly's.

Mostly, Mayo has a chance to establish himself. Let's see if he's as good as some of us (certainly me) think he is.

I see either Collison stepping up in a huge way, or mayo.

I wonder how many legit years Dirk has left in the tank, to be honest.

He looked bad for much of the season, last year.

0-11 start
71-11 finish

I think Dirk could win MVP. If that preseason game against the Hawks is anything to go by the Mavs will struggle to win 15 games this year. :facepalm

Right...because judging teams by their preseason play is definitely the way to go

Looks like age is catching up with Dirk. He is 34 now and in the league 14 years. As for the Warriors, they'll screw it up. Even if they go 11-5 in the 16 games Dirk is expected to miss, they'll come right back to Earth.
