Olowokandi is up there for me. Followed him through college, was really disappointed that he basically didnt try.

Darko Millicic. Selected before Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade.:facepalm

Marvin Williams. Selected before Deron Williams, Chris Paul, Andrew Bynum, Danny Granger.

Pervis Ellison. Selected before Sean Elliot, Glen Rice, Tim Hardaway, Shawn Kemp.

Sam Bowie. Selected before Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, John Stockton. This one probably hurts the most.

Bucks drafting Tractor via Dallas in exchange for Dirk was pretty bad in hindsight also.

I don't know how I feel about Darko, whether or not he's truly a bust or was selected and developed by the wrong team. Apart of me feels that Detroit really messed up by sitting him on the bench for years, and they weren't planning to built around him either.

Kobe, Dirk, Nash...these guys sat for a couple of seasons but their teams were highly invested in them and were going to build around them.

Darko is known to be a lazy player also. So I guess he's to blame too.

Ellison was around before I got interested in basketball. I saw his career stats. I noticed his first and second seasons were pretty decent, but then he did nothing after that. What happened to him? Injuries?

no pun intended

The Pistons won the championship the year they drafted him too

Injuries.

Had a similar issue to Greg Oden involving his legs which made them weak for a man his size. The bigger he got physically, the tougher a toll it took on his legs and eventually he began having quadriceps problems in both legs that required a few surgeries actually.

I dont think any other player since then has ever had an issue like that.

Didn't Sam Bowie perform fairly well before his injuries? Being drafted before Jordan was still the wrong move, but if the guy was constantly hurt then he doesn't count for this thread.

Oh and the correct answers here are any Cavs pick made in the early 2000's save 2003.

Didn't the cavs have like 4 rookies back when they got kemp, ilgauskis etc?:confusedshrug: Henderson and a few others? Can't remember what yr but all of them were shitty..

Apart from Kyrie they haven't done much better since..

I don't consider darko or kwa-maay busts, teams still want them every yr. someone like Thabeet is a bust. Although hes more a case of moronic management, you take the best player, not tallest:facepalm :facepalm

I don't consider Darko a bust personally. He's still in the league 10 years later, and he is servicable. Busts are players that are out of the league after their rookie deal imo. Same for Brown.

The Cavs have had terrible management in my lifetime. The 90's were good teams, but save that 2003 draft they haven't done much tbh. Kyrie is great, Tristan/Dion are complete unknowns, but both have high bustability. As for Zeller I wouldn't consider him a bust if he's out of the league in 5 years because he is just a mid round pick.

The Cavs in 2004 had an opportunity to give LeBron a player that could be his running mate for his time in Cleveland, and what they did was draft Action Jackson...

I was going to say Adam Morrison but somebody beat me to the punch.
He was the great white hope for a minute. People did compare him to Larry Bird when he was coming out of Gonzaga.

Joe Smith comes to mind. He did have a long tenure in the NBA but he was the first pick by the Warriors. He was picked before Rasheed Wallace and KG.

had all this hype coming out of highschool with his 100pt game. was one and done at memphis. cocky, thought he was ready for the bigtimes. then.....sucked in the nba.

I think his fall was due to injuries/medical condition.

And his rookie year was not so terrible.

Surprised no mention of Derrick Coleman. Frustrated the hell out of me and Nets fans. Zach Randolph with athleticism and shot blocking ability. Put up 20/10 almost effortlessly. Could shoot mid-range jumpers and had surprisingly good passing skills for a big. Some clips of him:

First 5 seasons:

18/10/2/1/1.3
20/9/3/0.8/1.5
21/11/4/1.2/1.7
20/11/3/0.9/1.8
20/11/3/0.6/1.7

Double-double in all but 1 season. Give him KG's desire and I could have seen him putting up KG 2002-2004 numbers(25/14/5/2/2).

Michael Beasley isn't a bust. He averages about 15pts, 5rebs a game. It isn't top notch but I wouldn't say he's a bust.

Dejaun wagner was talented though. At the very least he couldve been a 6th man of the year candidate down the road.

Word is he contracted AIDS, its not somethin hes made public though

Yeah Detroit could have won some more championships with Dwyane Wade or Bosh but none of them would have stayed. I think Darko was pretty decent when healthy and actually someone that would stay in Detroit.

I should add some Blazers to this list. Jerry Bayless is a bust. I thought he was a better pick than Brandon Rush. I have been proven wrong. Bayless is just an idiot who plays out of control. He has short arms and a low basketball IQ. I don't think Rush is way better, but probably more useful because of his 3 point shooting.

Rudy Fernandez is one too. This guy was suppose to be the next Manu. Manu is a man though and can actually finish without flopping to the floor like a baby girl. I had high hopes for him.

Two busts right there, Bayless and Fernandez.
