Haha... i think they forgot he had a game tomorrow. I guess Vinny kept saying "Bled are you tired yet???" and he kept saying he wanted to stay in. What I'm most excited about tonight is seeing how this team plays with Dwight as the main offensive focus. As the possible future of the franchise (provided he re-signs with the Lakers) this is clearly something to watch.

Of course, the second he goes to the bench I'll probably switch over to see some of that sweet Clippers/Nuggets action.

This is the one area I do agree with Xiao... I think Jefferson should be the first big traded. Kanter+Favors is the future and Kanter is good enough to start now.

Griffin swishes another 18 footer after the whistle. His screen setting and defense have also looked very good this preseason. I'm impressed at how much he fine tuned his game despite the torn Meniscus. Props to this guy who's going to be recognized as a bonafide superstar this year league wide.

Health will be a big thing as the bench is clear a worry but as long as this team is healthly come playoff time it can beat anybody. Miami and OKC deserve to be ranked the top two teams right now.

So the Lakers finished 0-8, a bunch of different variables can explain their struggles.

- Dwight missing 6 of those games
- Two new superstars in the mix
- Trying to utilize a completely new offensive scheme (princeton offense)
- Too many new pieces (Jamison, Meeks, DJO, Sacre, Duhon)
- Players like Jordan Hill haven't with the team for long either, being traded mid-season last year
- Overall chemistry will take time but I've seen glimpses of brilliance from our starters

I still think Ebanks is a better fit with our starting core; or Meeks at the 2 and Bryant at the 3. We need another shooter who can take advantage of Nash's brilliance. MWP is just too inconsistent to rely on. We must always have two of our stars on the floor at all times.

Morris, Blake, Jamison did not impress me. Meeks was average, Hill was terrific especially considering he came back from an injury.

Howard (38-40) - Gasol (8-10)
Gasol (26-28) - Hill (14-16) - Jamison (4-8)
MWP (26-30) - Jamison (12-14) - Ebanks (4-10)
Bryant (32-35) - Meeks (10-12) - Goudelock (1-6)
Nash (28-32) - split Blake/DJO/Morris minutes

Bench:

1) Hill
2) Jamison
3) Meeks
4) Ebanks

I honestly don't want Blake getting more then 4-5 minutes a game, please allow Goudelock or Meeks to play the point or even Bryant. At this point I lost all confidence in Blake. I hope DJO can develop into a solid defender for us, but I doubt he'll be making smart decisions with the ball. Morris is pretty terrible. I'm guessing the last player to get cut will be either Sacre, DJO, Goudelock or Morris; I personally hope it's Morris. I think Sacre can be our 15th man, only get playing time if Hill/Howard or Gasol go down with an injury. I like what I saw from him, certainly impressed me more then any of our scrub guards.

People are getting too excited over our failed pre-season though. Once our four stars start playing 30+ minutes on a consistent basis, and our four best role players will mostly be playing along-side them: the outcomes will be a lot different. LA has probably the weakest 10-15th man rotation in the league by a country mile (Blake, Duhon, Morris, DJO, Sacre, Goudelock) so it really wasn't that shocking to me.

Most games that LA played, they had the lead after the 1st with either all or a combination of our starters playing most of the quarter.

I just can't wait till Tuesday against Dallas, I know it probably won't be a historic start to the season and there will be some hurdles, but this team will be deadly come late winter - early spring.

As far as pre-season grades, I will rank our players from best to last with a grade attached to their name on how they each did this pre-season.

1) Dwight Howard - A- (great 1st game, mediocre 2nd game)
2) Kobe Bryant - A (shot the ball efficiently, wasn't overly ball dominant)
3) Steve Nash - B (lacked aggression, needs to take more shots!)
4) Pau Gasol - C (very inconsistent, had a terrible game tonight...)
5) World Peace - B (inconsistent with his shot, but played great defense...looks a lot quicker with the ball)
6) Jordan Hill - A (very impressed with him, accumulates rebounds like crazy and is very active on the floor...am thrilled we got him for Derek Fisher)
7) Antawn Jamison - D (Shot poorly, looks slow, bad defense...really was expecting a lot more from him as our supposed 6th man)
8) Jodie Meeks - C (had a couple of good games, but is a streak shooter...reminds me a lot of Sasha, but is a solid defender)
9) Ebanks - B+ (he impressed me, a positive sign for our bench. I like his athleticism and his shot looked good. I hope he becomes our 6th man, or at least our 2nd best bench player behind Hill. He has potential, I hope Brown utilizes him more this season)

10) Sacre - A
11) Goudelock - C
12) Duhon - C
13) Blake - F
14) Clark - D
15) DJO - C
16) Morris - F

I have no idea why on earth we released Douglas, he could at least create his own shot. It must be embarrassing for him to be released before guys like Morris, DJO, Clark & Blake/Duhon. He is most certainly better then all of those guys. :facepalm

Denver vs Clippers has had some of the worst reffing of all time but I just don't think Denver is as good as people seem to think and expect the Clippers to run Denver and the refs off the floor when full strength.
