5X5 is the most impressive,

5X5 is when a Player record 5 catagories with at least 5 things in each catagory. IE 5 points, 5 assist, 5 blocks, 5 rebounds, and 5 steals.

I think Noah gets in the 5x5 sometime this year, if he remains healthy. Is he the only player who has reached 5 of every stat in separate games already? I mean his opening stat line was 23/10/3/3/5.

The 5-5 isn't a problem for Lebron, it's the fact that he hasn't scored over 30 yet this year and doesn't need to with Ray Allen in the fold and Chris Bosh having an increased role in the offense.

That's the most bothersome thing to me. As awkward as this sound, I don't like Lebron being a 20/10/6 player. IMO he's more effective when he is a more offensively aggressive 25+/7/6 player. He's literally attempting just 4 fts per game. He's actually had seasons where he's attempted more 3 pts per game.

It was a really strange game or Durant. It was one of those games you knew he was there but, for a lot of it, it just seemed like that's all it was. Not saying he completely disappeared or anything, because he was missing a lot of shots he normally makes and was active on defense, but it didn't seem like he was having a good game. Then you look at the boxscore and see 36 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals and don't now how he did it.

Obviously he shot a ton of FT's (some were definitely via a "superstar" call) but it still felt like he had a quiet game. I guess it just speaks to how good he is when he can have a "quiet" 35-6-5-5.

So explain me how Lebron has 207 30/5/5 games in his 10 years career and is 8 games away from Jordan for that no.1 place all time, and Kobe has 143 in 17 years career. How much better Lebron has to be to have 64 more 30/5/5 games than Kobe in 7 years less?

Whoa, didnt know that one. Im sure Wilt/Oscar had more?

I like how everyone gets excited when Lebron gets 30 5 5....Kobe's been doing this for 17 seasons and at age 34.

Been doing this for almost like 2 decades.

Been there done it.

See it and saw it.
you are clearly an idiot and a complete fanboi. The media actually takes lebron's unearthly statlines for granted most nights. kobe fans make a thread every time he scores 30 on 40 shots. sure, kobe is great and he has many great all around statlines. But comparing his impact on the game to lebron is asinine.

Kobe and Lebron have different jobs on the court. pretty simple. same reason Kobe has a couple hundred more 30+ point scoring games than Lebron and three times as many 40+ scoring games. and Lebron has a ton more triple doubles.

Durant had 40 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists tonight. Just missed a 30-5-5-5 game by two blocks. That's the third or fourth game this season he's missed a 30-5-5-5 game by 1-2 blocks or 1-2 steals.

http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=400278143

That's also his 6th 30-5-5 game of the season, matching his total all of last season I think.

As an OKC fan, what improvement do you want to most see from KD? I respect his efforts to get better on D/playmaking (in addition to his shooting and scoring, which get better every seasons), but I'd really like to see him become a dominant rebounder at his position. I'm not sure if his frame can handle boxing out/playing down low enough for it, but if he averages 10-11 rebounds a game (everything else constant), I think he's clearly the best player in the game. Now this is in a vacuum of course and it might not be better for the team, but from a selfish POV that's the improvement I'd like to see (especially after mentioning that he likens his game most to Bird's...given it's harder to get rebounds today with fewer possessions, but Larry Legend did outrebound Moses for a series or two in his day and as meaningless as raw RPG is, that 10.0 career mark by Bird is pretty sweet no doubt).

His offensive rebounding and ball-handling. His turnovers are still too high, but a part of the reason for that is because he commits 1-2 silly turnovers a game where he's just lazy with the ball or tries to make an unnecessary pass. He doesn't even averaged one ORPG. If he could average one ORPG that'd get him a lot closer to 10 RPG. His rebounding numbers have taken a dip lately, but that's partially because Ibaka has been a lot better (12 RPG over his last six games and two 17 rebound games).

He's still a really good rebounder for his position, though.

Starting to wonder just how good Durant is going to be at his peak assuming he's not already there. Given that he's 24 I doubt he is, although plenty of the other top 10-20 players all-time reached their statistical peaks around ages 23-25 years old; so there's a possibility Durant is already reaching his statistical peak.

His last 20 games:

30.7 PPG
7.6 RPG
4.4 APG
1.5 SPG
1.3 BPG
3.3 TOPG
.532 FG% (194/365)
.456 3P% (40/87)
.912 FT% (186/204)

Needs to get his TOPG down under four, but he's really playing at an incredible level this year. After not scoring more than 26 (2x) in the first 8 games, he's averaging 31-8-4 on absurd shooting percentages of 53/46/91, and he really hasn't had a bad game. He's basically gotten to the point where the occasional 16 points on 7/22 shooting nights basically never happen. The only other player in the league right now in that category is LeBron and maybe Carmelo. Kobe, too, to an extent, but he has some horrifically bad shooting nights. It's not just that Durant is scoring a lot, he's doing with borderline unbelievable efficiency for a SF.

I used to really question his ceiling in terms of all-time rank/legacy. I'll see someone say he could be top 10 or top 15 all-time and just shrug it off because I didn't really believe it. I thought maybe, with a ring or two, he could get top 20, or top 30 without a ring. Now, though, I'm starting to think he really does have a top 10-15 all-time ceiling. Obviously he'll need a ring or two to get there. Look at it like this: how many other players in NBA history can you say were better scorers than Durant? A player who basically just rolled out of bed and got you 28-30 points a night on 60%+ TS. I mean is it absurd to think he could finish his career as a top-3 perimeter scorer of all-time? Then you look at the 7-8 RPG average from the SF spot, the improving passing playmaking and what could be 3-5 seasons f 4-5 APG, an ever improving defense, and a prime where he averages around 1.5 BPG and 1.5 SPG and maybe it's not so crazy to think he could potentially retire with a top 10-15 all-time resume. And of course he's got something all the other guys in that group had, and that's the ability to rise to the occasion in big games, hit the big shots, and take over games in the fourth quarter and lead his team to a win even when no one else is having a good night offensively.

Just some speculation on my part. Obviously he's got a lot of work to do just to get to top 50 all-time, never mind top 10-20.

He might be averaging 3.5TOPG but besides averaging 4.2APG he is also averaging 1.5stl and 1.5BPG which means he compensates for those turnovers more than enough.
I see him turning over the ball cause most of the time he is trying new stuff and since it's reg season I say let him experiment and figure new stuff out. How many teams can say their young star is in a learning phase and winning phase?

Yeah, most f the time his turnovers don't really bother me unless it's one of those times he just gets lazy with his dribble out on the perimeter and someone knocks the ball away from him. But like you said, he's sorta kinda making up for it with a combination of 3 steals and blocks most games.

- Lebron is unsurprisingly is running away with this and added 3 more to stretch his lead
- Josh Smith, Brandon Jennings, Kyrie Irving all added to their tallies
- Jeff Green and Isaiah Thomas become the newest debutants on the list
- James Harden, in my opinion, had the most impressive [40-5-5] 30-5-5 game with an unbelievably efficient 46/8/6 performance missing only 5 shots and going 7/8 from the 3 point line to beat his former team.

I think it should depend on position

PF: 22/10/5
