I've really liked what I've seen out of Dion so far. He's shown a lot more patience than I expected and he has an absolutely explosive first step. His jumper has also looked pretty good so far, surprisingly after his poor Summer League and Preseason performances. He might just be one of those guys who shines brightest when the lights turn on.

He needs to work on finishing around the basket, though. With his explosiveness and ball-handling at his size, he can get there when he wants... But he misses a lot of bunnies at the rim.

Still, he's been a lot better than I expected this soon.

EDIT: Lillard doesn't belong in this conversation because the Cavs didn't need a point guard, obviously. He was never an option.

Clippers play CP3 and Billups at the guard spots :confusedshrug: I'm not saying they should have, but they could potentially have made it work. Lillard is truly amazing though, I'm in awe of how good he is already.

Why the Fvck would the cavs have picked lillard?
No... It makes perfect sense... If you are playing NBA2K13. Actually, you would probably get smoked on there too with two 6'3" point guards as your starting backcourt.

Anyways, hows Tristan Thompson been playing?
Pretty good, actually. He looked great in the first game. Granted, it was against the awful Wizards, but he had a double-double with excellent defense. Last night, he was on pace to another double-double at halftime, but Scott pulled the plug with his starters relatively early in the second half and he didn't get many minutes.

He's made some huge strides this year. Looked like a deer in headlights much of the time with the ball in his hands last year. This year, he's been a good finisher and has even shown some nice passing skills. Defensively, he's been head-and-shoulders better, especially with his help.

i know hes only got 2 apg, but his passing has really impressed me. when he ges into the lane he makes great passes to the open big man. he has very good court vision for a sg.

thompsons defense yesterday was pretty bad imo. AC did a good job pointing out when he got lost on a robinson-gibson pick and roll

this team still has a long ways to go defensively

as for lilard, he went to a tiny school, and only played against scrub schools, so he was pretty unproven

Agreed. Waiters is a far better passer than I anticipated. That is going to be key as he develops, because his explosive first step will open things up.

And, yes... Boozer feasted on Tristan last night for the most part. He was better in the third quarter, but the game was way out of hand by that point. He still has a lot to learn, obviously... But he's already come some distance since last year.

Waiters has been great so far and I didn't expect the Cavs to be this good. The man deserves his own thread. If he keeps this up he will contend for ROY, with Davis and Lillard.
No need to compare with Lillard, they play different positions and have different roles. Lillard runs the entire Portland offense right now and Waiters isn't requested to do the same. Also, PB your stat comparison is stupid. Scoringwise, Waiters has been great, however if you add assists, RPG, FTA and made, TOV (especially considering their time on the court) it swings in the favor of Lillard.

Waiters has been as good as advertised (or at least by the Cleveland front office) but Lillard has been better.

a pg with his skill set hasn't come into the league in quite some time. His three pt range is amazing for a rookie pg, the comparisons to young chauncey are really sticking with me, i dont see anyone really coming close to him in the ROY race tbh. while waiters is expected to focus purely on scoring, it his not a priority for him to create for others because of his partnership with Kyrie, Kyrie is the facilitator. However, Lillard is already the best perimeter scorer on the Blazers and he is also relied on a lot in the pick and roll and pick and pop game to find open guys. he's similar to Kyrie last year, in that regard, but i think his jumpshot is much better. He must become a better defender though i will admit

Lillard is shooting 29% from 3. What are you talking about? Waiters is shooting 55% on 20 attempts in four games.

Facts matter.

When you factor in assists then you have to take into account Usage%. Handle thr ball more then of course you will have morr opportunities to increase your stats.

Fact is Waiters had the best game of any rookie this year.

Dion shot better in his sophmore year than Lillard did in four years at Weber State... and Dion did it in the Big East.

Yes, because it is unusual for a shooting guard to struggle with efficiency early in their careers. Please review the other 2s drafted in this class and compare shooting percentages. Pretty sure Dion's is actually better than those of Beal, Rivers, etc.

Having actually watched every Cavs game this year, I can safely say that Dion has surpassed all of my expectations. I know it is fun to troll a troll and PB does everything in his power to make this board hate every player in Cleveland, but Waiters has been anything but disappointing thus far.
