First thing I thought when I read the thread title, but in all honesty, I hope he comes back and they're still good. I'd like to see them be competitive in the playoffs.

I don't see how Amare could mess it up. He's one of the best finishing bigs ever, with a KG like jumpshot. The offense is all about ball movement, and Kurt Thomas/Tyson Chandler are taking his shots...the offense fits his style of play.

Its whether he can fit in defensively that determines his value as a starter though.

Not gonna lie. Kidd and felton is a pretty sick combo for that team.

Very good point actually. The team always played hard and with energy under Woody but now our talent level significantly upgraded. Still...I dont think anyone saw us gelling right from jump like we are.

except he take away the floor space for carmelo, so it makes team worse offensively, he is also very bad at defense. that's why last season when amare is on the floor, the knicks were out scored on average of 11 points, thats' just eye popping.

Hopefully they can find a spot for Amare off the bench. I really don't think he brings enough to the table offensively for him to be a starter anyway.

I've also become numb/desensitized to letdowns, disappointments, mediocrity but from what I've seen in these first 3 games, the team is looking niiiiiice....

Amare has to be respected as a jumpshooter, within 18ft, that's decent spacing. They aren't 3s, but they're higher percentage shots, and he can knock them down at a higher percentage than Felton/Kidd/Brewer can hit 3s. And like I said, right now Kurt Thomas and Tyson Chandler are taking his midrange shots. Amare will make them less dependent on the 3ball, which is good and be a reliable second option...because even in his worst year last season (when the poorer personnel he played with hurt his game) Amare was a 18ppg 48% scorer.

Not only that, but Melo can provide spacing for Amare because Amare can be a featured player in the offense. Creating easier shots for Melo. A lot more of the offense would be ran through the pick and roll, but the results would be the same.

Heat are coming of a championship run with nothing to prove, it's not that difficult to grasp the concept. Previous seasons champ don't try in the start of the season majority of the time. I will bump this thread when the Knicks get wrecked by Miami or Boston in the playoffs.

Crazy how good our defense has been without Shump who is our best perimeter defender...

Goes to show we can be even more lockdown once he comes back. With a healthy Shumpert, Brewer, Smith, Kidd, Felton, you got a plethora of perimeter defenders, and then you add in Chandler, Thomas, and Wallace (and Camby) and you got a stable of defensive bigs.

Shump is good but at this point Brewer is considerably better at defending the perimeter.

Knicks are back since they fired D'Antoni, like i always said they would. lol at Lakers looking at D'Antoni, good luck with that.

Knicks last year were the second best team in the NBA behind the spurs with Mike Woodson, they were beating team by 20, 30 and even 40 points, and they were never really 100% healthy.

I don't know about back or anything but 3-0 with a defensive mindset is a world better than where we started out last year or where we knew we'd be.

I find it funny that the trendy new team in Brooklyn is offensive minded with soft defensive bigs and offensive role players, and the Knicks are the opposite. Good luck Brooklyn! If it were the opposite we'd be getting skewered.

No he isn't. Shumpert is better defender than him. Brewer is at cutting to the basket and takes less questionable shots.

I think Shump is better than Brewer but even having Brewer to play instead of Landry Fields is a HUGE improvement.

I'm a Bulls fan, but I'm happy to see the Knicks play well. Hopefully they can keep it up.

I would be worried about Amare's possible negative impact when he returns, but I think Woodson has too many options now to worry about Amare's feelings. If he doesn't play defense and rebound, he will be benched.

The Knicks haven't even gotten the 2 players that give them the biggest advantage in the East in Amare and Camby.

They've only played 2 small teams in Miami and Philly (without Bynum), so they could play small without a problem. But when they get those guys back, they can really hurt smaller teams on the glass and protecting the rim. Especially Camby who is the most efficient rebounder in the league last year.

And they're not going to NEED the 3, like the Suns/Magic/even Spurs of the world, because they'll have Amare and Melo.

Again, if the Heat didn't take a game seriously that's not a point of pride for them. Getting your ass kicked because you don't try hard is a good thing how? When you wind up playing game 6 and 7 in OKC because you do that too much come explain how that makes sense.

The heat were competing, they just lost. They are going to lose with the playoffs somewhere at least between 25-27 times. You think every time they don't try?

Are heat fans just stupid because they started watching in 2011 or is it just a prerequisite before they let you watch them play?
