I've been wearing Jordans for a long time, I remember getting my first pair in like 2002 when I was like 12 years old and now I'm starting to lose interest...it's like every shoe looks the same now.
Hell, even the Durants and LeBrons out right now from Nike are better than whatever Jordan has out right now which is probably the Olympic 7s.
And the Adidas are cheaper too.
My favorite shoe used to be this:

And now its this...

Anybody else going through this?

I'm a pretty big Jordan fan. My favorite shoes ever are the Concord XI's  I have a small fortune invested in many pairs of Jordans too...
With that being said, If it's not a retro re-release IX-XIV than I'm not really interested. I do enjoy the Trunners, but I can't stand the Melo's, CP3's, Wade (even though he's no longer with Jordan). I am anxious to see what the Westbrooks look like though... I love OKC colors.
Adidas is OK..
I like what Nike is doing with a lot of the re-releases like the Foamposite, Pennys, ect.

I use my Jordan's on daily basis when I'm out but I don't ball in Jordan's, have never done so either. They're not really suited for basketball, at least not the old school shoes.
Adidas on the other hand, not so pretty but damn so comfortable, love them.

Perhaps the best shoe to ball in I've ever own were those Gil Zero low tops (I know, I know). Mine are worn out like shit. Wouldn't mind picking them up again.

What the last Jordan shoe you could actually ball in? This is a serious question btw, I really don't have a clue. In terms of aesthetics, Jordan has some of the most beautiful footwear I've ever seen. Their shoes are amazing well drawn up, but the build quality/comfort is definitely lacking. They should honestly be ashamed at how shoddy they make their shoes but I guess that doesn't matter as long as people are literally killing themselves just to get in line for one of their shitty shoes.
I've always been an Adidas/Reebok guy and they have certainly made some great shoes over the years. The T-Mac line's peak shoe, the 3.5 was probably the perfect basketball shoe for me. You didn't need laces in them and they were pillow-like in comfort, but still let the user feel enough to make authoritative cuts with confidence. The venting was great as well, my feet never felt hot either.
I would certainly buy more pairs of that great shoe.

Every adidas I've bought has been garbage in terms of durability, though that's admittedly a small amount. Jordans are overpriced (obviously) and aren't any better then the best Nike shoes in terms of on court performance (actually worse probably)

LeBron's and Kobe's are much better than them cheap ass Jordan's. sure, a lot of the retro Jordan's look good but they're a cheaply made, inferior product performance wise. Just stick with the normal Nike brand, not the Jordan offshoot.

To be fair ... the original Jordan line, when it was the ELITE Nike line ... was the CREAM of the crop. From materials to comfort to aesthetic to durability to performance beasts.
I'm talking AJ 1 - AJ XV from around 1985 - 2001 it didn't get better.
Then Tinker Hatfield became a parody of himself, and lost his innovative touch.
Then the designer of the Nike Huarache 2k4, Eric Avar and the subsequent designer of the Kobe line took over as the best designer in the basketball shoe game.
But I do hope you realize, all these retro J's that kids who never even saw the legend play, line up for ... are watered down versions of the original product on purpose. They are stripped of their comfort and technologies, and sold at face value to dumb consumers aka "HYPE BEASTS" who literally know nothing about the man they were built for, the original shoe, the designer ... or the quality that is now missing from an even inflated price point.
Poor suckers. But to even insinuate Jordan's at one point weren't the elite basketball shoe that everyone coveted, shame on you.
The T-Mac line's peak shoe
No ...
The Adidas EQT Top Ten 2010 ...
"Feet You Wear" technology was so far ahead of it's time, it wasn't even funny. They were so comfortable, and performance beasts.
Then the designer left Adidas, and they've never been the same since.
Adidas released the catastrophes that were the Kobe line, and yes the T-Mac line ... and now the horrendous atrocities seen on shoe shelves near you.
Wannabe Nike Zoom shoes, focusing on the light weight nature of their competitors, but using even cheaper materials, without the padding, and not near the stability and court grip of Nike's elite basketball soles with herringbone technology.
No wonder so many Adidas athletes in recent years have been getting injured. It's not a coincidence.

the Lebron and Kobe lines are so expensive these days I don't even look at them. I just need a pair of durable shoes to ball in man, i dont need a $200 shoe for that.
adidas has been pretty cool.. those of you criticizing it, try one of the new ones. They're extremely comfortable.. although not as durable.
nike bball ones are alright..
im currently wearing an old pair of and1 taichi's... most durable shoes ever. comfy, and great grips as well when i play outdoor

Price point on all quality Nike shoes (Adidas too) are ridiculous, now.
They consider them luxury brands. Sad thing is with the emphasis on less and less leather since the late 2000's, shoes have been made with plastic / mesh and while lighter have become less and less durable. Meaning you have to buy more pairs quicker.
You don't have any Nike outlet stores near you? That's where I generally get my hooping shoes.

Lebron 2s are amazing to ball in
The Lebron Soldier 2's are the most amazing sneakers to ball in ever
D Rose's first sneaker the Adizero 1's are crap. The most uncomfortable things i've ever worn. I figured wth they were so light I barely felt them. No. That mesh plastic crap its made out of tears your foot up and it has no support for your heel or ankle.
That being said I'd still buy the adizero 3's because it seems like they realized the problems and fixed them. And they're so darn light. I could be suckered again though

I like Adidas better now.
For just going out.
But for ballin no way. I have a pair of TS Commanders I got in 2009 that went to shit. I have another pair of kicks that I got that same year that just now started breaking a bit. THEY WERE LI-NINGS!
One of my students has these ridiculously sick gray Adidas that he wears every day and it kills me because I know they'll be gone soon.

You need to remember to distinguish between outdoor and indoor shoes. The prices for Nike and Adidas shoes are completely out of control but the shoes themselves are better than most of the cheaper brands.
I really wish the other big sportswear manufacturers like Fila, Puma would make a stronger push in basketball shoes.

Yep. I had the white/blue pair when they first came out. Now I wear the all-star grey pair I got from eBay a few months ago. I'm on the prowl for a pair of the black ones.... To me, the Lebron 2 is the best of the bunch. Performance wise, they are the best of the series. And they just pop when you wear them out. I can't wait until they retro them in the future.
I think Jordans tend to be overpriced and are relying mostly on the name to sell.
But lately, Jordan brand jumped the ship.
At one point when they tried to avoid the bells and whistles of Nike (Velcro straps and 360 air bags), they've now going back on their word and jumped shark.
I have been a Jordan fans since 1991-1992 and haven't bought my first Js until the 6 rings came out in 2009. Even then it was mostly for nostalgia.
The Melo with the air max bags look promising though.

I like to see if how many people who say the new adizero shoes are not supportive have actually played in one? I wear the crazy light 2's and the adizero rose 2's for ball and have no problems with them. No sprains, injuries whatsoever. The funny thing is the couple of times I've had bad sprains were in nikes too.
And people who blame rose's injury with the shoe is stupid. Might as well blame nike for Curry's ankles, Roy, Bogut, Amare, and Oden's knees, and Penny Hardaway's wasted carreer.
