ANYONE who thinks the lakers have ANY shot at the heat in the finals is RETARDED (mind you, im not a heat fan, nor a laker hater)

The 2010-2011 Heat were NOWHERE NEAR AS BAD at the start of the season as the Lakers.

The only player that is good on the lakers is Kobe.
Dwight Howard sucks ass, he seems to not hit ANYTHING. Gasol is soft as ****, the bench sucks my dick so hard.

Kobe needs to get out of that Lakers team while he can, the Lakers are USELESS, kobe is scoring FORTY and he is being UNSELFISH and the LAKERS ARE STILL LOSING.

This Jazz game is ugly as ****

Yeah true, at this state im more worried about getting to the playoffs than a possible finals tbh, anyway, firing mike brown shouldn't take long and it will relieve this pain to some degree.
Rosterwise, this team is championship material.

They NEED to fire Mike Brown. Kobe's lungs are gonna ****in explode by the end of the season if Brown keeps playing him like this. Also, Brown doesnt know how to use Howard on the block AT ALL.

Now I see why Cleveland never won a ring...

Calm down. It's not like David Stern is gone from the league. They'll get to the finals and still have chance against the Heat.

Dwight Howard is a 9 year NBA veteran, he should know how to get position in the block without his coaches help.

I don't know what to say about the Lakers. The Heat didn't start as bad as the Lakers have. The Heat when they first came together lost a lot of close games because they couldn't figure out who the alpha dog was of the offense. Their defense was still good from the start. Spo has also come a long way from his iso offense.

Either fire Mike Brown, or get rid of that Princeton offense and let Nash run a free flowing offense. Even then, that defense is terrible, I don't see much energy from the Lakers, they are missing a ton FTs, their bench has played poorly, and they just look old. Once LA starts turning the ball over, it's too easy to dunk on them on the other side of the court. They have no athleticism.

they are old + banged up.

howard is just back from back surgery, kobe has foot injury, nash is sitting out with injury. On top of this horrible bench.

even if they make playoffs, they are going to be banged. kobe is playing too many minutes for his age in regular season.

Spo is a solid to pretty good coach. I understand the Heat are stacked, but the players will give a lot of credit to Spo for their success. If Pat Riley believes in him, that's enough for me.

And we know how Kobe shooting 38% from the field has nothing to do with the loss, it's all Shaq's fault.

This team is full of veteran players. Maybe it's time to stop blaming everything on Mike Brown and put some on the players. Mike Brown isn't responsible for the horrendous free throw shooting and late game turnovers.

Horrible transistion defense.

Horrible screen and roll defense.

Poor spacing.

Slow.

This was evident just looking at the roster on paper. The reality is, they were overrated. They'll have their little run, reach 50 something odd wins. But they aint beating the Clippers, Spurs, and most certainly not OKC in a playoff series.

I love how at leas half the forum thinks they have a recipe for success that is better than Brown's. Even if Brown was mentally retarded he would have more basketball knowledge than half the forum, and I've already stated many times on here what I think of him as a coach (glorified assistant)

the princeton will work just fine, anyone who has been watching the league or playing basketball for more than a few years knows that it takes time for new players to gel, especially considering how half the lineup is drastically different as compared to last year as well as the fact that Dwight and moreso Nash are now in roles that they never have been in their entire life. The game vs detroit was a little indication of what could happen under the offense and this isn't even considering the fact that nash has been out.

So much stuff was going on at that team.. that team was like the '11 Miami Heat of it's day.. if not more so.. they actually played good given the fact that they only played with each other for one season. Payton and Malone left right the next season and they never had time to really gel because players were constantly getting injured and messing up the starting rotations. Even with all of that they got the Finals.

You've just made the perfect arguement for why Brown is totally clueless without even realising it.
You don't get 2 guys like Howard and Nash then tell them to totally change how they've played their entire careers just to appease a stupid offence.
The offence does not work, it does not work for one single reason. It's designed as a 5 man offence where everyone is equal. Everyone is not equal on that team.
Artest IS GETTING MORE LOOKS THAN BOTH GASOL AND HOWARD. Stop and think about that for a minute. Hell Steve Blake had more looks than them in the Jazz game too, WTF?

The offence MUST be designed around the player personnel not the other way round. This right here is an exact replica of Phoenix being coached by Terry Porter.
People can claim the efficeincy ratings all they want but it's very obvious to anyone watching that it's not only the offence screwing the offence but the offence is screwing the defense too.

The thing i worry about is that the Lakers are gonna burn themselves out playing huge mins on starters who have a crap ton of miles on em, and even expending all there energy trying to get a solid spot in the playoffs.

It's already time to worry this is a horrible start.
It is only to early to say this season is going to be a bust...they won't make the Finals etc.
This team still has the talent to win it all.
It just takes the right leadership, good health, execution and a little bit of luck.

We all have no clue what is going on exactly in that locker room.
But Mike Brown has so far had all preseason and now 5 games to get this team to be at a certain level. And right now he has FAILED MISERABLY.

Of course Buss has to defend him right now he hired the schmuck.
But the Lakers got rid of the former coach in the 80's and brought in Pat Riley and won the title. They made that change ten games in to the season.
So if this doesn't turn around tomorrow get rid of Mike Brown period.

Mike Brown is not a great coach. There are several problems with this team. 1st, they are old and slow. This effects their Half court defense, and transition defense. As great as kobe has shot the ball, his defense hasn't been very solid and overall the lakers perimeter defense sucks. Also Metta is slow now and does a lot of reaching. He still has great hands, but he can't stay in front of anybody anymore

2nd, their offense doesn't fit there personnel. They need 3pt snipers all over the court, especially when Dwight Howard is in with the 2nd unit. This falls on Mike brown too. Why he doesn't play Jodie Meeks with Howard in the 2nd quarter is just dumb. But the lakers don't have the shooters necessary to compliment there stars. Hopefully nash can help when he gets back. But the offensive scheme they are running isn't very good. I'm sick of seeing Pau so far away from the basket and shooting 3's. Pau also needs to play better.

The lakers will need to make some moves to get more shooters and more speed on the court. These younger teams ain't playin' around and are fast and athletic. The lakers overall are not. I believe they will figure some this out and start playing better, but they aren't winning a title unless they make some moves. They are old and slow and Mike Brown doesn't know his personnel or how to make great in game adjustments.

I was watching "Back Stage Lakers" on the new lakers cable channel and they had Mike Brown mic'ed up for a preseason game. On one particular play, He demanded Kobe Bryant of all people to dribble the basketball. I think kobe knows when and when not to dribble the ball on offense. When I heard that all I did was shake my head and laugh. It was like he was coaching at a 11-13 year old rec league instead of professional players. It seems like he over coaches and tries too hard. He's not the man for this job.
