Guy is crazy relentless. 5 offensive rebound per game thus far.

And is much better offensively.

Reggie Evans might be the closest thing to Rodman in the NBA right now, and even then - he's a poor man's Rodman.

Not even close. Beastly rebounder but shit defender and more capable offensive player. Basically all they have in common is rebounding. Hell Omer Asik= Rodman more than Faried.

Rudy Gay is up there with Kobe in "GOAT facial expressions". But while Kobe has intense and intimidating expressions, Rudy merely showcases cute, innocent and outrageously hilarious moments that put a smile on your face.

You never saw Rodman play...there is no comparison in the league right now

Ben Wallace is the last player to ever come close

No comparison. Rodman was a complete animal. This guy Faried just jumps around a lot and looks like he's doing more than he actually is.

Faried is like a more athletic version of Zach Randolph without the post game.

Dude has been beasting. He's a double double machine.

Rodman is the best rebounder I've seen in my life time, and one of the great defensive players ever.

Faried is no where near a great rebounder or defender. Just a high energy guy.

Faried's comparison to Zach Randolph starts and ends with double doubles, and maybe being black.

Ben Wallace is like Rodman in that he was a great rebounder and great defender, who didn't score. Actual similarities are non-existent.

Kenneth Faried is a lot like Rodman, except he can rack up some points.

Now, this idea that he can't defend is just stupid. He's still raw and it's more visible due to him being undersized, but he's far from a bad defender. He's a smart defender, a very good shot-blocker already, and he makes plays on D. He hustles and has good timing. He's gonna be a great defender.

He's not the passer that Rodman was (Rodman was actually a very solid passer), but he can score.

how is faried not a great rebounder?

look at his NBA numbers. and he's the ALL TIME LEADING college rebounder, ahead of Tim Duncan

Actually not hell :D
You are right Omer Asik is very similar to RODMAN.He is probably the best rebounder in the game.He might be the worst offensive player(starting center).

Interestingly enough just like rodman he is a very good passer.

But his paint defense is more impressive than his man to man defense.

OMG neither guy is anything even remotely close to Rodman. NOTHING! My sister is closer to Rodman than Asik or Faried and I don't even have a sister.

Rodman was ave 18 rebounds a GAME! He grabbed 34 rebounds in a single game! He was also 6'6" and could guard any position on the floor.

Can we just close this thread already???

Do you even know wtf rebounding is all about? It's about positioning and who wants it more. There's no f*ckin technique to rebounding and kids learn how to box out right from the start. Dude is a great rebounder. Watch some more Nuggets games.

The thing that relates him to Rodman imo is that he isn't too tall yet he brings down the boards in bunches. Both have a sort of willey, gritty, bouncy, electric style, though the defense certainly isnt there and Faried will probably never match Rodman's intangibles which have an un-quantifiable but certainly noticeable effect on opponents.

Another question to ask is what Faried's ceiling is. He continues to exceed expectations; he is one of the most exciting players in the league right now.

Dude in terms of rebounding rate Omer Asik has been at the top since his rookie season. Now that he is getting minutes,he is showing what he can do.He cant score to save his life just like rodman but he can pass the ball well just like rodman. He is a very good defender actually one of the best paint defenders this is the difference in their games.Rodman is again very good defender actually he might be the best defender and most versatile. So they are as very close the way they earn their money.

Asik will probably lead the league in rebounds if he continues to get these kind of minutes

There's more to being similar than having similar skills. Just because he and Rodman both were rebounding and defensive specialists doesn't mean they play anything alike. I won't claim to be an expert on Rodman, but it seems to me that Faried is a much more similar player in terms of being an undersized power forward who is a tenacious rebounder and an exceptional athlete. Rodman was obviously a fantastic defender, which Faried isn't, but at the same time we're comparing a second year guy to someone who everyone thinks about his prime. I'm guessing young Rodman wasn't the defender he became in his later years (though still better than Faried is now).

There will be another Shaq before there is another Rodman.

Eh... I doubt that. I could see another 6'6", 6'7" inch guy grabbing 18 rebounds a game and playing terrific versatile defense before I see another 7'1" 325 lb behemoth who could do what Shaq could do and be as nimble as he was.

Again, those who think he's a shit defender don't watch him. He was great last night.

I knew he was a great defender in college, but I didn't know he was the DPOTY in America lol. Is that accurate? He'll be an elite defender.

In terms of emotion hustle energy rebounding he's definitely similar to Rodman
I don't think he can ever be as good defensively, especially since i don't see him guarding perimeter players but he's a good offensive player something Rodman never was

he's very athletic for his size. How many big guys do you see running down the court with the ball and go behind the back to avoid defender and go for a lay up or dunk?

Very athletic is a stretch. He's a decent athlete, but he's not elite. But running the floor has more to do with his mentality. It's something the Celtics would probably love.

I know the Celtics are happy to have Jeff Green. But I wonder if they'd make that trade.

Don't know what his potential is, but he has passed KD to become my 2nd favorite player to watch.

Fantastic player and Denver looks like a great team this year.

In shoes, while short, Rodman was taller than Jordan and the same height as Pippen. Faried seems even shorter which makes him so impressive.

I just don't know how much upside he has though. His game is 100% effort and athleticism, so I don't know if his game will age well.

Rodman could defend.... up to 5 positions...

...and some people may average the rebounds he did but nobody was more relentless on trying to grab loose balls than Rodman, he didnt give a damn about getting fouled out/technicals/fines/fighting every single game trying to catch loose balls and even risk his own body (and life? :P):

Faried is no less relentless. His energy is greater than Rodman's. Rodman may dive into the stands, but Faried hasn't yet had to. His energy wins the ball before that point. And he will be a great defender. Just not the best defensive PF ever, which Rodman arguably is...

Above comment is ignorant.
