His assist could be higher. Aside from rondo and pierce they have been struggling offensively. But luckily they are coming around.

Horsefeathers. Calderon is nowhere near the defender and athlete Rondo is. "2 Hall of Famers" that average 35 points combined. People used to say "3 Hall of Famers" to belittle Rondo back when the team had Ray. Ray goes MIA and Rondo's apg jumps by 1. And you still bring this up? Paul Pierce is shooting 41% and KG is averaging 30 minutes. But you still write this crap? Stop it.

So? He nearly averaged a triple double over 14 play-off games a few years ago. Last year he was at 17/12/7/2.5 through 19 play-off games. Those are just normal numbers for Rondo.

PG defense is pretty much a non issue in today's NBA. Too many screens and freak athletes for even a good defender like Rondo. Calderon would look a lot better with Garnett absorbing all of his mistakes too. Again, anyone can put up good stats playing with shooters and holding the ball for 18+ seconds every possesion. Do you honestly think Rondo runs a good halfcourt offense? How many times do you see him just dribble out the clock at the top of the key, only to pass with like 2 seconds left and Pierce make a bailout shot? I don't see how you Celtics fans can be happy with how often your offense is just awful.

Jeff Green averages 8 points (for the record, he's playing ok he just isn't aggressive enough). Sullinger averages 3 points. Barbosa is Rondo's back-up. I swear some of you just write whatever dumb crap pops into your head and assume it's worth reading. Newsflash: it isn't.

I don't see how you post on the subject when you have no idea what you're talking about. Celts are 15th in ppg, 5th in fg %age. PGs can press the ball to burn clock/force turnovers and their ability to keep their man in front of them is extremely important.

He does a great job when his teammates actually prefer attacking the basket instead of trying to find an open look from midrange.

How many times do you see him just dribble out the clock at the top of the key, only to pass with like 2 seconds left and Pierce make a bailout shot? Not very often.

assists are overrated, like Rondo.
he is good but not an elite nba player.
and pointing at stats after only 10 games is ridiculous, as much as comparing him with Stockton.
that's cool for his stats but what did the Celtics have done with 3 very good old players and a supposedly elite PG ? not that much those last 2 years.

Rondo is one of the elite players in the NBA. If you disagree, you're wrong. You wanna argue where he ranks, go ahead. You wanna argue that he is tho, you're wrong.

Rondo is not the Celtics' problem in the halfcourt. Doc Rivers is their problem and is so completely. It's annoying. A team of veterans, truly great players, and they don't have basic discipline. Every game they let the other team back in. They never go convincingly. And it's every year.

They lost with Rondo playing with 1 arm in 2011 and lost in 7 to the NBA champions. Not that much indeed

Anyway, casual 20 assists today for Rondo, and not even a thread because it's such a common occurrence.

There is a guy on the Clippers who looks pretty good.

His name is Chris Paul I think.

Rondo is a great pointguard and unique as any player in the league but he is turnover prone and reckless with passing.

Aren't turnovers and reckless passing directly linked? Anyway, Rondo averages .3 TOPG more than Paul over their careers (another ~25 a season!)

Current CP3 takes better care of the ball with more accurate passing and decision making.

CP3 passes right in the shooter pocket of his teammate while Rondo's occasionally are nearly picked off the floor. That extra time added by lack of precision and the effect it has on a catch and shoot player reduces the chances of putting points on the board.

Rondo is one of the best in the league, definitely top 10, but CP3 is the best at the position. If he can keep up this numbers then he may be better than CP3 as some point but right now I'm with CP3.

upside24
11-17-2012, 09:37 PM
Rondo is also an unreliable scorer unless he has improved his jumpshot this offseason and is a reluctant scorer to add to that.

Unless he starts shooting when teams leave him open and forcing them to respect his jumpshot his scoring outbursts like the 44 on the Heat in the PO when just be occasional and not consistent enough to be relied on to pick up the slack like CP3 does with his efficenct jumpshot.

He is a fanastic player as I have stated before though I can recall in what thread. But right now CP3 is third in line to LeBron and Durant in my opinion.
