I think Paul Pierce in 04-?-06 season? lets look it up
Looks like didn't happen, he was close in 02-03 and in 05-06 with:
25.9/7.3/4.4 Pierce
20.1/7.2/4.8 Antoine
--
26.8/6.7/4.7 Pierce
19.7/4.5/5.3 Ricky
at one point in the time I remember Pierce being as best in all of the following categories.

Not to play the what-if game, but David Robinson led his team in just about every major statistical category except rebounding in 1994. Robinson was 14th in the league in rebounds that year yet it wasn't good enough to lead his own team because, well, his teammate Dennis Rodman averaged 17.3 boards a night that year.
Otherwise, Robinson led his team (and the league) in scoring, while also posting team highs for steals per game, blocks per game, and assists per game.

Steals and blocks weren't recorded until the 1970s though.
I think it's fair to say that Maurice Stokes probably led his team in every category. It's likely that Elgin Baylor did too.
Possibly Wilt Chamberlain as well.

There are only 5 five-tool players in NBA history:
Dr. J, 1975-76: 29.3 ppg, 11 rpg, 5.0 apg, 2.5 steals, 1.9 blocks pg
Cowens, 1977-78: 18.6 ppg, 14 rpg, 4.6 apg, 1.3 spg, .9 bpg
Pippen, 1994-95: 21.4 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 5.2 apg, 2.9 spg, 1.1 bpg

KG, 2002-03: 23 ppg, 13.4 rpg, 6 apg, 1.4 spg, 1.6 bpg
Most impressive multiple tool player in NBA history? Wilt of course.
1965-66: 33.5 ppg, 24.6 rpg, 5.2 apg
1966-67: 24.1 ppg, 24.2 rpg, 7.8 apg

What part accounts for the 6'8", 265-270 pound frame, though? it's a pretty big part of his game since it allows him to finish so well with contact and he's started to use it more in the post.

Just throwing this out there, but for any Pippen hater out there, look at all the other names on that list.. then tell me Pip wasn't a top 3 player, if not the best player, the year Jordan was out.

KG, 2002-03: 23 ppg, 13.4 rpg, 6 apg, 1.4 spg, 1.6 bpg

Regarding Dr J, "in NBA history"?
The use of the term "five-tool" suggests this is taken from 20 second timeout blog by David Friedman but the idea has also been touched on by Michael Grange's book Basketball's Greatest Stars.
KG in 2003 is the only player in history to lead his team in pts, boards, assists, steals, and blocks in both per game and total for the season
The reason for the apparent difference between this post and the above is whether one is required to play certain number of games to qualify as team leader.
Cowens was outblocked by Kermit Washington 1.3 to 0.9, Washington played 31 games as a Celtic. He also was marginally out-assisted Cowens averaged 4.558442 a game, whilst Charlie Scott averaged 4.612903 in 31 Celtics games.
Pippen was outscored, per game by a returning Michael Jordan (21.4 to 26.9), but Jordan played just 17 regular season games. Jordan also got 5.294118 assists per game to Pippens 5.177215 .
Finally Tracy McGrady missed 7 games in 2003 and thus trailed Darrell Armstrong in total steals (124 to Armstrongs 135) but led in all other totals and per game stats.
Each of these lines would be difficult to match in terms of raw numbers. If you accept advanced stats (reb%, ast% etc) Cowens' is easily the most replicable because only his rebounding numbers are good for a team leader (and his even this is slightly inflated by a higher than modern pace). The points are okay (but low for a team leader) and the rest are very low for a team leader.
Obviously Erving's aren't counted for reasons noted above.
Safe to say LeBron is gonna do it again this year so updated.
This refers to the points, assists, rebounds subject which is the main topic, not the 5 category achievement refered to in the post immediately above it, as he trails Wade in steals per game, and Bosh in blocks and blocks per game though in '09 he led the Cavaliers in all but blocks per game, in which Illgauskas and Ben Wallace had a slight advantage.

Just throwing this out there, but for any Pippen hater out there, look at all the other names on that list.. then tell me Pip wasn't a top 3 player, if not the best player, the year Jordan was out.
Olajuwon was the best player in that period. Pippen had a case for top 3 I suppose, but I'd give the edge to Robinson, Shaq and Ewing.
Just throwing this out there, but for any Pippen hater out there, look at all the other names on that list.. then tell me Pip wasn't a top 3 player, if not the best player, the year Jordan was out.
Pip was very good, but he wasn't as good David Robinson (who led his team in all 5 categories but never in the same year as when he led in assists, Rodman led in rebounds), Hakeem Olajuwon or Shaq.
And Pippen didn't collect those totals in "the year Jordan was out", at least not the full season Jordan missed (he did so in 94-95, the year Jordan was fully absent for was 94-95). In that year Horace Grant led the Bulls on the boards. In that year too he's probably behind the 3 centers, though in this year especially (both probably) he has a strong claim to the 4th best player and best non-center status.
