It's going to be scary seeing how this team is when D'antoni is coaching. This team will be scary good when Nash comes back to.

Championship rocket is about to launch.

You can't just take your 5-5 record and win over a possible lottery team with grace?

Damn.

Do you know they are basically playing off talent right now?

Imagine when they are clicking....heck, they can win just as they are now.

Do you know that you're just assuming they are going to click? Not saying they won't, but calling a team that just hit .500 for the season the "best team," when a team like OKC or San Antonio only has 2-3 losses, is fanhood idiocy.

You guys were just 1-4 like a week ago, relax yourself.

Slow down, dude! Definitely on the right track, but there is still a LOT of work to do on the defensive end.
It is FUN to watch though!

Lakers have 4 wins on sub .500 teams, being celebrated by a delusional Kobe stan as the best team in the NBA, but I'm the moron.

You know what, what was I thinking. KG215, you're right, this is clearly the team of the century.

They have lost 1 game since switching from the worst coach in the history of the NBA. And you are saying they should be undefeated right now? How are they suppose to get a time machine and make Mike Brown not their coach for the first 5 games? :lol

No way. They don't guard anybody and the bench is crap. If they can trade Gasol for some perimeter athletes who can shoot and defend, I might change my mind..

With that much talent and scoring how much defense do you need? They scored 119. They won by double digits. And they are missing a true PG. Try again.

Suns 04-05 had more talent than the Lakers. Better bench, Nash in his prime, Marion around his prime, one of Amare best seasons, and Joe Johnson. They didn't make it to the finals.

So, they do need a bit of d.

With that said, we should wait a while to see what the Lakers could do. They need time. I don't like their bench and it doesn't seem to get any better unless they trade Gasol or something, but the defense should come around. The perimeter D could be a problem. The PGs might kill the Lakers. Westbrook, CP3, and Tony Parker. Once Howard becomes healthy, then he should back them up.

I don't see them winning the West at this time though. They don't look as impressive as the other teams. Time could change that.

They are not even at full strength. Wait until the end of the season when Nash starts really playing furiously trying to win that ring. It's early in the season. Nash and Dwight is going to be all day. And Kobe is realizing he can PASS. That was what I was worried about most. I thought he was too selfish. But he is surrounded by talent and he is SHARING the ball. It's gonna be a great season for him.

very easy schedule till now also, 8 homes games vs 2 on the road.
8 games vs teams .500 or below. Just 2 games at home vs clippers and spurs.

It's still a team that is work in progress. I just wish they can get it together and peak at the right time. I've seen only 3 games so far but the Kobe pick and pop to Gasol at the middle can turn a lot of heads and freeing up Howard for dunks. I mean Nash can run this pick and rolls all day long. What was Mike Brown thinking? He should have just done this and gradually bring his vision of Princeton offense later on.

That one game was against a contender, and not only that, but coached by a guy who has historically owned Mike D'Antoni in the playoffs. Plus those wins were against lottery teams. Houston? Phoenix? Golden St? Sacramento? Yeah I'm sure teams are just terrified of playing those powerhouses.

Lakers are not team yet, let alone the best team. Some really great players there, but long way to go to make them into a team.

That starting lineup is amazing.
That bench is garbage.

I think that lack of depth will be a setback for this team in the long run.
They gave Duhon "sub of the game" for 18 min 6 pts 2 asst.

Those numbers are trash compared to teams deep teams like Clippers, Memphis, OKC, Heat, Knicks, Boston, etc ....

Jello
11-19-2012, 03:20 AM
Trade Howard, Nash, and Gasol for a bench. Then Kobe can carry the starting lineup of steve black, jordan hall, artest metta, and that one euro guy, then the bench can hold a lead.

Joe was injured. no doubt Marion and Amare with Nash were beasting on offense. But as good a defender as Marion is, the Suns did not have the length the Lakers have now. not cool when Stoudemire is your center. That Suns teams was probably the best team fitted to run and gun. Though the Lakes bench sucks but talent and experience wise, the Suns are still not comparable.

Its way to early but they are one 3 point away from 5-0 record without MB.

so I don't worry to much about the 1-4 record with MB, he is a moron and can't coach.

I think the west is very open this year, VERY.

Looks like the OP is right again and it was from last November and the Lakers finished the season as one of, or the hottest team entering into the playoffs, till Mamba tore his tendon.

If the tear never happened they probably go on to the Finals, seeing how the team they lost to, gets dominated by Kobe.

If Westbrook doesn't get injured it isn't even a discussion which of those 2 teams would've represented the Western Conference.

they were on a league mandated tear because they were playing every game with the refs on their team so they could make the playoffs for ratings.

It's been a while now and some of you may have forgotten, but some of those late season games in the west were absolute BULLSHIT in the lakers favor
