According to IGN the game will be set 700 years in the future, and feature battles with aliens to protect the "last city on Earth"
after the collapse of mankind's efforts to colonise the Solar System.

A screenshot suggests the first title in the expected series will run on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Bungie's most recent releases
had only run on Xbox systems.

A decision to build another sci-fi franchise will see Destiny compete with the developer's original series.

Microsoft has said it has plans for at least another two Halo games. Its most recent sequel, Halo 4, was created by its own subsidiary 343 Industries.
The series as a whole has generated more than $3.4bn (

I have to agree. When I fist watched IGN's video, the first thing that came to mind was Halo. Although, this still looks promising. Especially with what Bungie's president said about it, about it tapping into your inner 7 year old and making it more of a magical adventure.

So far it's been great (PS4). The servers are a little shaky at the moment seeing as I've lost connection twice. I play on a wired Fibre optic connection of around 50MB so I know it's not my end.

The atmosphere is fantastic. Considering this is still the beta the game looks incredible. This will definitely be the next shooter I pick up. So far I only have BF4 and that sucks.

Wtf? To play multiplayer in the beta, you have to:

be level 5, then go to a tower where there will be a green indicator above a The Crucible Handler, Lord Shaxx. he will enable the ability to play "Crucible" which is multiplayer.

It's a pretty awesome game but probably because I never bought the hype. Halo gameplay was better as far as the feel of firing a weapon but this game has more stuff to do.

You get to do missions in your own order by going to different planets or the moon. As you get better you get to unlock different guns and and powers. You can also do armor upgrades so you can survive a bigger firefight.

Im a level six after playing last night. I got this one power where my guy does this hulk smash thing and it kills almost everything near you. It's a nuclear option I use if I'm about to die because it takes forever to recharge.

Overall this game is solid and it gets better the more you play. The thing that keeps it fun is strategizing how you want to play a mission. You also get connected to other players automatically that can help you finish a mission.

So far I say this game is a solid 8 but could go up if the story has a good finish.

No trading system as far as I know. You can however trade between your characters.


I'm level 10, my multiplayer score really fluctuates a lot. Sometimes I have a .5 kdr and I'm middle of the pack on the team. And sometimes I'm at least around 1.0 and I'm the best by a decent bit. I can't seem to figure out the best way to play yet. I think the autorifle/shotgun combo is the best. But I'm not entirely sure.

In all honesty if you've played through Borderlands chances are Destiny will feel too familiar. It's a mash up of Halo and Borderlands. It's a good game and I recommend it but chances are you might be wasting $60.

In all honesty if you've played through Borderlands chances are Destiny will feel too familiar. It's a mash up of Halo and Borderlands. It's a good game and I recommend it but chances are you might be wasting $60.

I'm almost at rank 20 now. Played a few multiplayer missions. It's like Halo if you were wondering.

Been playing since Tuesday, after I get off school tomorrow I'll be playing the shit out of it again, Human/Hunter at level 15.

The best part by far is playing with my friends, one is a Warlock and the other is the Titan and it makes the campaign so much more fun with friends, it's a blast and also super intense.

Honestly I get some of the criticism. The lore and storytelling in this game is just bad. The beginning is pretty bad. The lack of voice chat options makes such a community driven game a little boring. The game is a huge grind.

But after 10 hours or so the game is starting to click with me. The shooting mechanics are rock solid. It's a beautiful game. It's a lot of fun if you are playing in a party. The multiplayer is very solid. It can be very challenging. The loot aspects starts getting a lot better once your character is past level 10 or so.

I did the first strike alone and died once, because I went full retard and didn't see the invisible ****ers until it was too late. Then decided to not switch to my shotgun.:facepalm Granted the array strike is only a level 20 one but still.

Different note since I got to a tough part: Venus is really tough, I like fighting the Vex. I've done all of it but the last mission on hard, and I get that sense of accomplishment that a lot of the negative reviewers are complaining about the game lacking. The teleportation mechanic for them is incredible.

I'm gonna go ahead and save most of you about 60 bucks. Destiny is hot garbage, don't waste your time or your money. I'm so glad I decided to play it first before I spent my hard earned cash on it. Now I can sleep at night knowing I didn't spend 60 bones on a game that would do nothing but collect dust on my shelf of games that serve no purpose other than collecting dust and maybe occasional use as a coaster.

It's fun, but I'd wait for price drop before I'd even consider buying the game.

So far yes it's exactly like the beta. I was expecting more. I'll hold onto it for a bit longer, apparently there are some free DLC's coming up in the next few weeks but once I've played through them I'll trade it in for store credit.

The Last of Us and GTA V look to be the best games for the PS4 this year. That's a sad thought.

It's not really a borderlands per se, it definitely takes aspects of Borderlands 2 and doesn't imitate them as well.

Like I said, the heart of the game is in it's multiplayer, and it's much harder to grasp the real spirit of the game when you can't play with others, if you played with your friends it'd be a whole different experience.

EDIT: I see a lot of the people's gripes with the game and they make sense, there's a lot of potential in the game and it hasn't been realised, that being said I'm having an awesome time playing it so to each their own.

I just realized what the subclass thing is. I'm a warlock and almost full and noticed the sun thingy and it's different powers or something. I like playing this game. I still haven't finished the story though. I like that I can jump around in different modes seamlessly. The game is pure awesomeness to me.

Not my type of game, and I knew that going in. But I figured why not? It was free and the only other game I would have even considered was Madden (which when I last bought I played for about 4 hours total). At the very least I would have a presumably moderately entertaining online shooter to fall back on, since I stopped buying COD games. It's nice to have a game like that in your collection because we all get in that "I need to shoot something" mood.

And to no surprise... I'm not enjoying it. Of course I haven't unlocked the multiplayer mode yet. Been playing for two hours and I'm still level 4.

Yeah, I finished the campaign just a couple hours ago (I thought I was at like the halfway point:lol )...reminded me of Halo 2. It felt half finished.:lol

I can see myself playing the multiplayer for a long long time. To me the mechanics, the guns, powers, etc etc. That was absolutely perfect. The best control scheme/power fit since they did Halo. I absolutely agree with the campaign complaints though. I can see the universe being worth 10 years, but they need writers, real writers. Not the shitty game writing they've had.

I enjoy it, my only complaint is it is hard as fvck to get vanguard marks and crucible marks. Feels like I would have to play a lot of hours just to level up in either one of those, let alone both. Multiplayer is fun, but the story is kinda all over the place and hard to follow. Really hoping for some improvements in the upcoming releases they put out.

Alright, been playing a little more. My last 5 levels (5-10) have come all through multiplayer. I tried jumping back into the single player mode (which was the first moon mission) and I just can't get into it. Ended up getting distracted by one of those community events, or whatever, completed it, and then I quit back to multiplayer.

Some thoughts/questions:
-Are you at a major disadvantage at a lower level in multiplayer? Because often I get one shot by random rifles and shotguns. Drives me nuts.
-If I don't do the story, will I miss out on anything important loot-wise? I figure if everyone is doing the story, then you must not get anything too rare in there.
-Does melee damage increase at a higher level? I'm used to melee = kill, so when I see someone close enough, I melee... But it only takes away 50-75% of the health and I don't have enough time to melee again or switch to my rifle. So basically: shooting > melee, always? I never win that battle between melee vs gun in close combat.
-I always feel like there should be more people. I do a mission and maybe I see another person. I go to the tower to mess around and maybe there's 8 people there. There's just no feeling of a living and breathing world.
-Really want chat.
-Need more maps online and less map repeats. Earlier today I played the exact same map 4 straight times in the same room. Also feel like there should be one more game mode.
-Are there no stats or leaderboards? Like where my k/d is, weapon stats, etc? I mean I'm getting my ass kicked, but I'm still curious.
-I've come across some problems with bad spawn points and I feel like those vehicles on the one map that can use them are bit OP. The last time I played it, I jumped in the tank looking one and I didn't die for the rest of the map. It was at least 10 straight minutes. 12 kill streak tho.

Those are the main ones I can think of right now.

Oh, I thought of another one; I think this is a XBox One bug. If I let my console run with the game running, the console shuts off by itself. The problem is that there's no sound in the game when I turn it back on. There's sound in the dashboard, and what not. None in the game. The only way I fixed it was by pressing the xbox button while in the game, clicking on anything, and then going back. Weird and not too troublesome. Just whatever. Wish the console would allow me to leave it running.

You not get an exotic weapon bounty after you reached level 2 in the crucible? Or is that ridiculously hard? I just got the bounty last night, and was gonna try and get the gun today.

No...and yes. The weapons are automatically balanced so no one weapon will be better than the others. However, the abilities of another player are where the low levels are getting their asses kicked (no offense, it seriously happens in every lobby) The abilities aren't balanced so that they only reactivate every 30 seconds or whatever. Instead its whenever they would naturally occur. Also titans have the most health, and are pretty OP when you're a low level. Shit I'm level 24 and some of them still kick my ass routinely. (note that when the Iron Banner releases next month there's no more weapon balancing)

Again no and yes. Most missions won't give you anything valuable. But, some missions will give you the blue armor you desperately need as a reward for beating it. And of course the random drops from enemies can be blue, or even rarely purple. The strikes will most of the time give you a blue piece of armor, occasionally its guaranteed but not always.

Yes, but to the best of my knowledge there's no one hit melee kill unless you come up behind someone. Usually you need to two piece to do it.

Typically I see tons of people in the tower, and often in the game. Not sure why you're not. Yeah a lot of people think there needs to be proximity chat. Often on PS4 if you start ****ing around and dancing with people on the tower, or playing with the ball that appears you'll get invited to a firesquad.:lol Surprised its not the same on xbone. The maps thing is kind of an issue, I think Bungie did a hot fix for all the systems yesterday for that. There's 14 maps, but I feel like more often than not I play the same 6 or so over and over and over and...

And yeah the spawns sometimes are a bit screwy particularly on the moon map. I swear Sands of Time, rumble mode is the same shit as well. But no one I play with has that problem. Only time that map ****s me over spawn wise.

I just watched the seventh team to beat the Glass Vault do it on Twitch about 2-3 hours ago. Pretty cool, took them a little over an hour to complete it. Technically it was their second attempt, they started it last night I guess, but quit out. This game looks fun, I like the end game content.. I only have a PS3 not sure if it's worth grabbing on an old gen console. We'll see.

- Got to level 20, finished the game, and was like wow.....what a horrible job on the story. The worlds look amazing though, and the NPC's aren't dumbed down.

- Started doing strikes, got purple armor and some exotic yellows... then grinded to get ascendant shards and energy to level up the legendary and exotics.

- Very boring, tedious grinding process....I'm at level 27.

- Crucible....already broken as the exotic auto rifle destroys all. Trust me, I know. No lag whatsoever though...amazing netcode.

- I want to play some 3v3 multiplayer with friends only and be able to pick which map to play on.... oh wait... can't do that....no custom multiplayer. What a failure...

- So basically I'm going to do the raids...level up to 30, and then I'm done as this game is simply a filler until the much better game, Halo Master Chief Edition comes out in Nov which will contain the original halo online multiplayer. No point in me playing any other game, as I've been waiting 15 years to play halo 1 online on the superior console version, as the PC version is a joke.

1. I just remember the name of the mission to know I beat it, it's confusing at first but you'll get used to it.

2. Yellow bar is your super/special, since you're beginnning, if you're a Titan it' a slam that creates a shockwave, Warlocks short an Void Orb that explodes, and Hunters get a golden gun that shoots 3 shots and does massive damage. It fills up by either killing enemies or collecting orbs when other people use their special attacks.

Exotic auto rifle and exotic helm should be had first, then buy the appropriate legendary other pieces to support those items and your style of play.

Yeah, I finished the campaign just a couple hours ago (I thought I was at like the halfway point:lol )...reminded me of Halo 2. It felt half finished.:lol

I can see myself playing the multiplayer for a long long time. To me the mechanics, the guns, powers, etc etc. That was absolutely perfect. The best control scheme/power fit since they did Halo. I absolutely agree with the campaign complaints though. I can see the universe being worth 10 years, but they need writers, real writers. Not the shitty game writing they've had.

Don't worry about that for now. As long as you are below lv 20, any loot you get or buy will be completely useless an hour or so later.

Until you reach level 20, just wait for good drops. Because then you'll start having blue engrams drop when you reach a higher level, it'll take longer to build your character at that point but you'll be wanting to save your Vanguard and Crucible Marks for weapons or major armour pieces.

It's tedious, you can only get 100 marks of each per week. So it'll take two weeks to purchase a weapon or more than one piece of armour, so be prepared to grind it out.

If you can pick a weapon and become really good at it, most of the time you can be very efficient with it. Being precise and getting shots to the head in this game are paramount (as it usually is with shooting games)

Quick suggestion, beat the game first before you go to crucible, when you beat it, you get the strangers gun, which has 200+ damage. I have used that like crazy after I got it. Add me on ps4 if y'all want

I don't know what takes less skill, the PvP aspect of this game or the PvE.

I call Destiny the game of randomness that awards you for time put in instead of actual skill.

PvE - run around doing missions and grinding until you can actuall get to the skillful aspect of the game which is the raid. I'm a level 28 and have all legendary armor, weapons, exotic weapons. Just slowly collecting ascendant shards and energy to max out the armor and weapon abilities. It's a grinding, boring process that takes zero skill whatsoever, it's just time consuming.

PvP - Can I please get killed by something other than a special kill or a weapon that uses heavy amo? That's what it is 95% of the time. Both of those take zero skill to use, meanwhile I'm owning with my sniper rifle, pulse rifle, and hand cannon or using my throwing knives.

I use a hunter because at least the melee move requires skill in throwing the knives and the super move is a golden gun that requires you to aim instead of just jumping into a crowd and getting instant kills with a warlock or titan special.

What is really sad is that I was doing a bounty which required 20 scout rifle kills that had to be head shots in the crucible, and still came in first place (not even using my real primary or secondary guns...what a joke...) only to see some noob with 4 kills and 20 deaths get a legendary engram. LOL

That's all this game is... randomness which requires no skill unless you are playing in the raid.

Level 28 missions are a joke when your character is at level 28.

Goddamn is she a sexy handcannon. For some reason its the only handcannon I'm not godly with in multiplayer though. I can't figure it out there, my best guess is the impact is a bit lower than a few of the other handcannons. Campaign it works well.

Just gonna reply to a bunch of shit you guys said without quoting, I'll bold shit so if you don't care about part of it you can skip over easily:

About the cave: Use a wax idol, it increases the money you get, so even if you get shitty drops, you're gonna get a lot of glimmer. Also, you don't have to even shoot at the enemies to get credit for the kills IF you're in the same area as the people shooting at the cave (which you should be otherwise either the thralls or the other hive members don't spawn). If there's enough people doing it I get lazy, and just turn on netflix for a bit, and watch it. Check back every 5 or so minutes. Yeah it's douchy I know. But you'll get credit for the kills, AND still get drops/glimmer.

About the crucible: Until the iron banner releases, all the weapons are balanced equally. Meaning that a level 14 assault rifle will do as much damage as a level 20. So accuracy is key. Just find something you can hit people in the head with. Handcannons are almost always 3 shots to the head (two for shield, one for health) for a kill. Its why I favor them. Body shots are nice, but if you're a precise player it doesn't matter. So basically just find the weapon you're best with, experiment with all of them even, and just roll with it. But once the Iron Banner hits...that changes everything. Because then the strongest/highest rated guns are the best.

On classes: in the week one update (I might be wrong on this) Bungie said the classes were actually about equally used. There's a couple percentage points difference but yeah. I feel like there's a lot of Warlocks especially. I'm one, and I definitely think sunslinger is better. The grenades are amazing, the ability to continually do fire damage even after dying, the self-reviving (which is amazing in control). I'm probably gonna make a Titan next because I have a few legendary pieces of armor for it. And I really think the melee is amazing. Also the bubble shield is horrible, and I'm surprised Bungie included that after all the negative feedback the armor bitch got in Reach.

Thorn's bounty isn't as bad as it seems. I got the 500 points in like 4 hours. Just don't die a lot, and that part flies by. The hardest part is the last thing you need to do which is beat the Unwed wizard on the goddamn Phogoth mission. He spawns in the last wave of enemies.

What my friend and I did was just take out most of the people on the first wave. Retreat to the room where you can see phogoth out the door. Then stayed in there and just fought. But you need to have someone occasionally leave the room (its okay if they die they'll respawn in 30 seconds) and kill some stuff. You'll know a new wave has started when you see the thralls and/or a hive drop ship appears. Just be careful because one of the spiny hover monsters of doom will spawn in that room to deter players from camping in there.

But for right now Thorn is pretty weak. They're fixing in a future update, but it is weak.

I won't say it's mediocre but it's just not holding my attention for some reason. Like I said before I had way more fun playing the Beta than playing the full game.
It doesn't hold your attention because it's a half-assed, unfinished, mess.
