Sick and tired of hearing this. Sick and tired of bitter Lakers and Clippers fan not giving credit to Miami were its due and making up lies.

"The Heat would be lucky to make it to the WCF, and would maybe be a 3-4 seed"

Lies, and it's stupid. You sound like an idiot saying that.

First off, Miami has versed a lot of good competition in the East. The Celtics have been dominant and winning a lot of games since 2007-2008, and are and have been capable in beating anybody they versed. The Bulls with a healthy Derrick Rose were unstoppable beating anybody they versed including Western teams, and had the best record in the NBA twice. The Orlando Magic with Dwight Howard were constantly winning 50+ games, and now the Knicks and Nets are some of the teams to beat in the NBA.

Miami Heat are definitely the best team in the NBA, make any excuses you want, but they are the defending champs, back to back finalists, and have the best record in the NBA as of right now.

The Chicago Bulls with Derrick Rose would still be winning 55-65 games each year while beating most Western Conference teams. I could only see the Lakers, OKC and maybe Memphis beating them in a 7 game series.

A Healthy Boston Celtics team made it to the NBA Finals 2 times in the 6 years, and if not for the REFS they would have beaten the "Powerhouse" Lakers team twice.

The New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets both have started the season great and are capable of beating any team in the NBA, and can surprise the Heat in the playoffs.

Shit, even the 76ers, Hawks, and Bucks have been good teams and are capable of shocking any team in the league.

STOP the bullshit that the East is weak, and that Miami wouldn't fare in the West, its lies and a lot of us are tired of people downgrading the Eastern conference when its just as competitive in the East. Haters are just mad that the Heat win.

West has won like 12 of the last 15 titles and the west has 10 or 12 teams that compete fiercely for playoff spots every year. Last decade to get in the playoffs as 8 seed in west you have to win 45 games minimum, in east less than 40 often times.

The East has been weak since 2011 and every season since then the East has gotten weaker and weaker.

Honestly, there isn't a single team out East that has any shot at taking out Miami in a 7 game series, none. I can think of a few out West and that is why people say the East is weak.

Whoever says Miami couldn't fare out West is stupid though, but teams out West do give Miami more trouble because teams out West actually have great bigs.

Top 8 East teams right now have a combined record of 30-20 against the West.
West are 37-12 against the East.

Top 3 East teams are 13-8.
West are 20-4 against the East.

Small sample size and is somewhat misleading due to the many variables...but it is what it is at the moment. West > East

Op: The Heat are the best team in the league right now, I agree. The East is still Weaker than the west, it has been for a long time. Go back and look at the final standings over the past fifteen years, pretty much every year there are 4 to 5 playoff teams in the east that wouldn't make it in the west based on their records. This year should be no different.

The best team doesn't win the NBA championship.

Example 2012 Heat, and umm... 2012 Heat.

Number of times a team under .500 made the playoffs between 2002 and 2012:

Eastern conference = 8
Western conference = 0

I love how all of the op's examples are all shit now. Derrick Rose is hurt and the bulls suck. The Celtics are injured and old. And Dwight is no longer on the magic and he sucks too. Heat have a cakewalk in the east.

Who cares? No one discredit the Showtime Lakers with how weak their conference was.

Boston had to go through Philly early on, Milwaukee, Detroit, Chicago, etc.

West has actually won 10 of the last 15. And anyway, we're talking about right now and more recent history. In fact, since 04 we've had 4 out of 9 champs come from the East.

East is weak compared to the West.

#1 seed in the West could possibly meet DAL (with a well-rested Dirk) in the 1st round and 2 of OKC, SAS, MEM, LAC and LAL in WCSF, WCF. MIA is not going to play 3 such tough opponents just to get to the Finals.

rmt
12-04-2012, 03:10 PM
Also think that teams (MEM, LAL) with SCORING bigs would cause matchup problems for MIA whose bigs outside of Bosh aren't great. Fortunately for MIA, they'll only face 1 team from the West.

Top to bottom the West is clearly stronger. The Pacers are way down without Granger and an underperforming Hibbert. The Bulls without Rose probably wouldn't make the playoffs in the West. NYK seems improved, but I'm not sold on the Nets yet. The Magic without DH are garbage, and the Hawks aren't a playoff team either anymore. So, from last year, the Bulls, Pacers, Magic, and Hawks are down. While NYK improved, I see them finishing 3rd in the East behind Boston. New Jersey, I think will finish 4th, but they would finish probably 7-8 in the West.

In the West, OKC, Spurs, Memphis, and both LA's (most likely once they getting going) would all fight for top 3 in the East. Mav's will start rolling once Dirk gets going. Denver would probably be top 6 in the East.

Hell, even the bottom teams in the West (Kings, Portland, Suns) have some talent and would beat some of the better teams in the East.
