I really liked him on NBC, the Blazers and the Sonics broadcasts...

I don't know, I actually liked him with Walton and Marv Albert.

I thought he was an idiot. Glad Walton is back though.

I liked him on the Blazers broadcasts. But his go to phrase is "Ball movement, player movement."

He'd say it about anything. But damned if he wasn't usually right. I just wish he'd act like it was a little more complicated, you know?

I saw him in Portland about 2 years ago (Blazers were honoring him), and he looked old as shit. Needs a cane to walk and doesn't look anything like he used to. If his voice or mind has gone as much as his body, then I completely see why he doesn't. Even then, he didn't look like he had the energy to call games on a regular basis.

Anyone know how Snapper got his nickname? It seems like a better kept secret than it should be, with the internet and whatnot.

I tried looking it up but only came across a former Blazers intern's account of how Jones walked into the bathroom and peed at the urinal with his pants around his ankles: http://paulsamusings.blogspot.com/2009/04/steve-snapper-jones-story.html

That sounds miserable. To be fair to konex, those issues started in 2005.
