No wins in the Chinese Basketball Association, LMAO

In 36.8 MPG, he's averaging 24.6 PPG on 69.2 FG% and 100 FT% (33-33!!!) to go with 6.2 RPG, 5.2 APG, and 1.8 SPG.

wow those numbers are crazy (granted, it's only six games). i've never followed nba players who go to china much; is it usual for them to post up ridiculous stats?

That's with DJ Mbenga as his side kick, too. :oldlol:

Also, I think those FT numbers are skewed. According to that site, not one member of the team has missed free throws? Every other stat seems accurate, just not the free throws.

Bringing that T-Pain baggage over there

But seriously, those are impressive numbers.

That's Asian discipline for you. They probably practice FT shooting in their sleep!

Didn't even notice that.. :lol

I guess fouled in the act of shooting results in automatic points.

They're going to need to get better production out of GangLin Yang if they have any hopes of reaching the playoffs this year. I wouldn't mind seeing Gang Wang get more of an opportunity to jump in there and get his hands dirty either.

Well hes shooting 70% for 2 pointers, the stats are misleading. If you take into his 3pt shots which fell 6-25, hes shooting about 54% from the field. For an NBA player in China, this isnt really that impressive.

Everything I've heard indicates that T-Mac is playing fine. DJ Mbenga has been garbage and his Chinese teammates are some of the worst in the league. It was the same deal last season with Lester Hudson in Qingdao --- he literally used to shoot 20 threes in some games.

imdaman99
12-07-2012, 02:53 PM
actually that FG% is a lie. well, its different from how we perceive it. he is 36-52 on 2pt FGs. and 6-25 on 3pt FGs. so do the math, it is 42-77 shooting, rounds up to 55%. still above 50% but nowhere near as impressive as 69%.

not impressed anymore :confusedshrug:

It's still impressive since those 3's are mostly heaved up in desperation mode from a lack of help.

YongGang Zhao's shot selection has to get better. He's an awful 5/14 on 2P field-goals and 14/29 on 3P field-goals. Clearly he needs to take many, many more threes, and cutout that nonsense of shooting inside the 3P line.

There's almost no way the team is shooting 100% FT's (77-77). They probably don't have FTA stats available.

Edit: I checked another team (Guandong Southern Tigers) and they also supposedly shoot 100%. This seals it...

Better to see him do this, rather then sitting on the bench on the NBA.

He is 36/52 which equates to 69%, in the NBA, FG % and 3 Pt % are calculated separately, therefore % for FG is accurate.

I remember retired Bonzi Wells was dropping 40+ point triple doubles in the CBA a few years back.

Here is an actual legit stats source:

http://cba.sports.sina.com.cn/cba/player/show/4093/

69% on 2 PT FG (not overall FG), 24% on 3 PT FG, and 70% on FT

So he is shooting 55% from the field overall, 24% from 3 point range, and 70% from the free throw line.

Weak CBA era.

BTW, here are the team stats for Qingdao:

http://cba.sports.sina.com.cn/cba/team/show/114/

The team is obviously not shooting 100% from the free throw line.

Here are the CBA individual stats league leaders:

It's a curse. It has nothing to do with his inability to win.

He's doomed to be the most talented player of all-time placed in the most unfortunate of circumstances.
