View Full Version : If melo wins MVP and finals MVP this season does he pass wade all-time?

Does he passes wade all-time? Lets be real for the next 5 years melo going to continue the same level of play while d-wade is going down hill. If melo wins MVP and f-MVP doing it in New York would bring him a higher status than wade winning his in Miami

Melo(MVP + fmvp) > wade(1.5 rings)

And no, not even close. Wade has 2 rings and one of the greatest finals performances of all times, and would have 2 FMVPs if Lebron performed a bit better. Melo needs more than 1 ring and 1 FMVP to surpass him.

12-08-2012, 02:03 PM
Yep. All Wade has done is win one title + FMVP which Melo will tie if the OP's conditions are met. Wade's other title was because of riding LBJ's coattails so it doesn't say anything about Wade individually.

What's so different about Melo this season? I mean really, so his team is winning. People talk about him being this new player and he's not even averaging more than 2 apg. Wade at his prime used to average the same amount of ppg while dishing out 5-6 assists.

Watch a game instead of looking at the numbers. He looks different out there defensively, and is making the people around him better for the first time in his career. He's looking like a leader instead of just a scorer

So you mean he's finally doing things consistently in his 10th year (like defending/playmaking), that he should've done YEARS ago?

Is Wade better than David Robinson because he never dished out 5 assist per?

Different positions. Not every small forward plays like a point guard, on Lebron does. Every other small forward plays....like a small forward.

Melo has always been this player, a fantastic scorer. His teammates are doing much better now, thats the difference. They are playing good team ball.

Also, almost 15 games into this season doesn't make Melo better than prime Wade. I'm sorry, but he's not. Wade is a better playmaker, more all round scorer and played elite defense.

People need to stop these knee jerk reactions.

Current Wade in the playoffs > Current Melo

I have no doubts in my mind that Wade will be more valuable when playoffs come around.

And he's just 30, people act as if he's 34.

Exactly.

Some people focus too much on stats/boxscores and not enough on actually watching the game.

Melo's approach to the game is much better this year. Top 5 player without a doubt IMO.

Wade's 2006, 2009, 2010, and possibly 2011 are better than any Melo season thus far.

So no, why would he be ranked above Wade all-time? Wade has 2x Rings, FMVP, and a few LEGIT MVP caliber seasons already on his resume.

In just a few seasons KD already surpassed Melo at his own game.

Melo has been an evolutionary version of Glenn Robinson. Nothing more, nothing less.

If Melo puts up a '06 Wade level performance in the finals, then it's debatable....

But that's not very likely. Not even LeBron or Kobe has balled out like that in a finals.

Even if Melo wins MVP (as of now, don't think it will happen... I got Durant winning it), Wade's been consistently the better player when healthy and much more potent in the playoffs, so I just can't see it happening with the MVP+Finals MVP+Championship, even with a dominant run. It's just the case of being more consistent than a 1 year dominance, which Wade has probably had like 4-5 years better than the 12-13 Melo so far.

It does push Melo in the Top 50, quite easily.

Melo has been an evolutionary version of Glenn Robinson. Nothing more, nothing less.

I've actually seen that comparison before too with Melo and Robinson before, but yeah Melo's offensive skillset just puts him at an elite level over Robinson as players.

wade took down the mighty pistons.... and a pretty good dallas team.

wade was like a crazy 6'3 point guard skilled baller that could score with the best sg's and block your shiiiiiitttt...

so far i agreed that durant has surpassed anything melo's accomplished, and wade is not gonna be touched by melo this season...

but then theres always the factor of New York.

He gets New York a championship... then... you know how that is. Knicks have been starving for this, and so has the league.

To be in even top 25 for me, he's gotta go to at least 3 more conference finals. Beat Heat, beat a legit contender DRose Chicago team, and Beat the Thunder or even the Spurs.

But how many years can the Knicks stay at a contender level Let's say they win a chip. Tyson will get hurt sooner or later. Smith will not be resigned. Kidd will retire.

Felton Iman Melo ____ and ____ ? Those blanks gotta end up being ****ing Al Horford and some other emerging Center.

Shaq was still a 20/10 player in Miami, and capable of much more, but he took a back seat to Wade for the good of the team. He was 33 years old. He was not at his peak, but he was certainly still in his prime.
