there's not a legitimate second option on the roster. in order for the knicks to maintain their level of success, melo has to be the first and second options. felton and jr are way too streaky.

Right now, Amare's out.
But otherwise, when he's back then he certainly is.

Melo won't take as many shots when Amare comes back.

Yes he will. And that's fine. That's his game. I'm only worried about how everyone is incorporated. Melo will and should get his shots.

I dont consider someone shooting a lot of shots the offense is designed to get them a ballhog. Id say ball stoppers who arent supposed to be doing what they are trying to do are ballhogs.
The biggest ballhog ive seen in like 15 years was Marcus Fizer on the Bulls.
Melo, Kobe, AI, and so on are for the most part doing as expected. Fizer...Artest on the Kings...briefly...Larry Hughes on the Wizards....dudes just making a mess of an offense.
Arenas did a bit of that too. Hes one of the few real stars id say was a ballhog.
Steve Francis would break plays to go one on one a lot too.
There arent really too many ballhogs in the league right now. Few guys take too long to make a decision at times. Like Boozer. Lebron when he does his 8 jab steps only to do something he could have done after 1.
But its not as bad as it was early 2000s or even late 90s. Not many Isiah Rider jab stepping 16 times on a clearout nobody but him wanted situations left.

Is this even a legitimate question? Until the day he retires Kobe is.
I think Kobe's style of play is what's hurting the Lakers. Dude just like to score the ball I guess, which is cool & all .. but you have other solid scorers on this team including the best center in the league. Yet he still continues to take shots over 3 defenders like a troll.
Look, I love Kobe & what he's done in the league but this season Kobe looks like he's just trying to get his & he believes that this is the way they're gonna win games. Obviously, he's wrong

This is a very good post...Iverson was a ballhog tho. A lot of the offense was designed that way because of the way he chose to play. Not to say he's one of the worst, but he was a little bit of a hog.
Artest is a ballhog right now. There might not be one player I'd less want on my team. Dantley was a huge ballhog. A ball-stopper and a black hole, for the most part. Rudy Gay is a ball-stopper too.
But Gilbert Arenas is the winner...him playing PG is about as bad as Bargnani playing C. His best season was his first in Washington. His teams really stayed the same all those years and they got worse. Butler was better and a much better fit than was Hughes, but that team won 3 fewer games the next year, when Arenas' points went up. They went a game worse the year after.
The year Arenas was injured, their record was 2 games better...and that's despite going 6-7 when Arenas was actually on the floor. Winner.

When Amerie comes back, Melo will still be the first and second options on offense.

If Kobe played PG, I could call him a ballhog. But he's a SG. Incase people didn't know, SG stands for SHOOTING GUARD. Key word = SHOOTING. Westbrook on the other hand is a ball hog.
