"They're going to have to break up their team,'' predicted a rival general manager who has done the math.

If they break it up they could lose everything. The logical guys to let go are Wade and/or Bosh, especially if Wade doesn't make a comeback. But if you let Wade go James is leaving as a FA, he's not the one to play solitary star else he'd still be a Cav.

That's all you need to know about that article..
I do see the Heat trying to shop Wade though.. Maybe not before the trade deadline but more than likely in the offseason. Unless of course Wade returns to the level of play he is know for. JMHO
There will be some 'creative finacing' come that time. Riley will yet again work his magic. Expect Wade and Bosh to both take the necessary haircuts. LeBron will be a max player, though.
Micky Arison loves winning. He's also worth 4 Billion. And as harsh as the repeater tax penalties will be, he aint penny pinching at the expense of breaking up Miami's core prematurely.

Wade goes from franchise player to injured bench warmer.

Dear Lebron, come lead the Suns back to the promised land after you're done winning your "not 7" championships for Miami. We have a decent core of players, but we're missing that franchise player go-to guy to continue to build around. That guy is Bron Bron.
lol Seriously though... I hope if the Heat do have to break up, the Suns can benefit from it some way or another. Star talent is hard to come by these days because of teams like the Heat hogging all of it. :(

We'll be fine. Riley knows what he's doing.

In all honesty, with Wade playing the way he is right now, how much worse of a team is the Miami Heat without him?
I'm sure there are plenty of guys waiting in kine to play with Lebron.
Wade for Kyrie Irving?  Double FU to Cleveland

The Heat are never gonna shape Wade. I'm pretty sure it isn't Riley's style.

I would normally agree but 140 mil plus? All that money may make Arison to tell Riley to move one or two of those stars. No NBA team has ever been nearly that expensive.

The relationship between the Max salary a player can get paid and the Luxury/Salary cap is too close.
I know in an ideal world each team would have one Max player and a bunch of others, this is never going to happen.

I don't get why star players can't just get less money and save cap space, while the owner pays the rest under the table with bonuses or whatever. Just wire the money to his bank account and pay 12 million instead of 15-20 million.

I don't doubt it's happened, but the punishment for this sort of thing would be huge. See Timberwolves/Joe Smith. Serious Sanctions.
Something similar happened here in our football league this past offseason. The team was stripped of draft picks for the next 2 years. Lost out on the players they would have received back in a trade for said player, and said player has to sit out half of the next season on a suspension.
F*ck the Crows.

lol. That's called salary circumvention, and there's is serious penalties for such. Familiar with the Joe Smith fiasco, and the Timberwolves? Google it.

If you are a billionaire owner with connections, I am sure there is a way to set up an offshore account that can't be tracked or discovered. The player just needs to keep quiet.
There are banks and corporations evading taxes from the US government, I am sure an owner with power can avoid the almighty NBA Association. If Putin decided to buy a team, he would make Stern and all his buddies tremble in fear.

Just wire the money to his bank account and pay 12 million instead of 15-20 million. This sort of thinking cost the T-Wolves 7 years without a 1st round draft pick, and also gave KG some gray hairs.

well if you are getting paid under the table, you are evading the IRS as well, since you wouldnt be paying taxes on your salary. so you wouldnt just have the nba sniffing around, the irs would be after you too.

Knicks 2006 $117 mil, without taxes. 23 win, those were the days.

so the lakers, nets, bulls, thunder, knicks salary cap wont make the teams break up but the heat will,WHAT!
A RIVAL GM,KEY WORD RIVAL said this
Arison is one of the richest owners and the heat are the most viewed, popular, most talked about team in the league, and their merch and tv ratings are among league leaders
heat payroll next 2 years 85 mill
knicks,nets,thunder,bulls 85-90 mill
lakers 100 mill to 72 minus dwight
Its clear the reason that this was said by a RIVAL GM With the Heat FAVS to make Finals 3rd year in a row

That i would want to see.
Put a center like chandler and player like felton and shumpert that would be a very dangerous team.(not that heat is not dangerous just this team would be a little bit better.)

Why are so many of you thinking the Heat would lose 2 of the 3?
If they actually had to break up the coire, they would only lose 1. They would keep LeBron + Wade or Bosh.
The Heat, however, will keep all 3. Watch.

Pat Riley is not shopping or trading Dwayne Wade. It just isn't going to happen.
I only see the Heat having problems here if they don't win. If they keep winning titles, there really shouldn't be any compulsion to break up this group, regardless of the cost. $140+ million is a stiff price, but its not like the Heat aren't making that money back tenfold if they keep winning.
As long as the franchise is staying in the red, Arrison will probably keep spending the money until this group has run its course.
