Yao got tons of votes but he was a great player when healthy. Jeremy Lin isn't and it would be a shame if he got the All-Star appearance.

This is a joke. Basically all people did is look at the poll and ask themselves, "O who iz on da Heatz or da LakerzzZzz?" I mean honestly Shane Battier? Metta World Peace? Ray Allen? Pau Gasol? Get the hell out of here this is why I hate big market teams they're spoiled.

How does it work? Westbrook is fifth, how does he get to be a reserve over Lin?

It would be funny to see Lin make the all star team. but yeah a lot of great players so far are getting snubbed like Parker, Mayo, Varejao, Lopez, Josh Smith over guys who aren't that good or are still on the injured reserve.

Time for me to vote for Lin and Asik.

They are the most non-deserving players that actually have a chance. Fans should be more united to screw the voting system up.

Good to see Lin is behind right now. But it goes to show...if Lin is playing well, he's gonna make it. Obviously, if he's playing like Linsanity then there's no problem, even if another guy should be ahead...but if Houston stops trying to hide him he's starting.

If KG makes it there's a real chance that Paul Pierce loses his spot.

Pierce isn't a lock but he's a hair under 20 ppg and the coaches have voted for him 10 of the last 11 seasons. A 3 All-Star team should be better but the record will still be over .500 at the current pace. The coaches will support him again barring a major change in his performance.

Pierce's scoring will go higher because I believe his shooting % will get better. I also don't believe that Rivers will be forever incapable of realizing some of his team's problems...not to mention that the Celtics should make a move at C, improving the team completely. But 3 all-stars is a lot.

Thankgod fans dont vote for reserves too. Lack of David Lee was obvious, Lin getting the shitty votes and ZBo barely getting any were also equally obvious.

If Jeremy Lin makes the all-star team, it'll be embarrassing for everyone, but most of all for Jeremy Lin.

There will be a really big controversy. Fan voting may get cancelled or radically changed because of that alone. Nobody wants that.

Lin right now isn't even playing like a guy who should be starting on his own team, never mind the all-star team.

Its the allstar game. Its a game for pure entertainment purposes to appease fans and say thank you. No one really cares who wins the game do they? As a fan i just want to see some cool shit, the players only start playing defense in the 4th quarter anyway.
If a player has the most amount of votes, it obviously means more people want to see him start and thus he should be the one starting. If you think its wrong, go vote for another player, and if he deserves to start he'll get the most votes. All of the starters currently would have been voted in by coaches anyway even if they don't get the fan votes. At the end of the day the squads are pretty much how they should be.

Just a popularity contest and pretty much always has been. Hence, Ricky Rubio (who has played all of 0 minutes this season) getting more votes than Mayo (who's having his best season in awhile). Stand out players do get recognition though.

andremiller07
12-13-2012, 08:43 PM
If anything the game itself is a joke imo it would be better just to name the All-Star team by experts and coaches and give all the players a rest during mid season so they come back fresh for a while.

Imo the NBA would be better off implementing a America vs the World game instead of the West v East and do it after the playoffs instead of during the mid season. Even thought it would be a mismatch imo it would make for better viewing. (Lin would not make the world squad)

Clifton

Nope. The NBA will hush hush any media concerns and act like he earnt it. They want that asian money.
How? Is there any evidence that "the NBA" actually has any top-down power over anything? They can't hush the entire media, the entire press, heck even their commentators, not to mention every fan, crying foul.

Err.... why? It's fan voting. If the fans (as dumb as they are) want to see him, then so be it. This is why coaches pick the reserves, so that we can still have a good game.
The fans don't want to see him. Chinese people want to see him because he's Chinese. Which is stupid and pathetic. The fans don't want to see a below-average starter start in the all-star game because of racial bias. It's assumed that fans will vote for qualified players. It's harmless if someone votes for an underqualified player because he's a big part of their favorite team. But Lin getting in - while playing like a guy who doesn't even deserve a roster spot - because he's Asian is awful.
