On ESPN radio today, said MJ at comparable minutes into his career was an one dimensional back to the basket player while Kobe is still a dynamic scorer with ability to take over games

Jerry west was real complimentary of kobe as well. Just amazed at his longevity and work ethic

This is a living legend we are watching here man. Gonna be a sad they when he retires, NBA won't be the same

This makes sense. Kobe isn't as quick or athletic as MJ was. MJ could get to the basket easier than Kobe ever could, so Kobe naturally had to develop more of a midrange game than MJ did.

Kobe is quite masterful at it.

Bullshit. Kobe is HORRIBLE at creating space on his midrange jumper...or ANY jumper for that matter. He's great at making tough shots, but it's the fact that he HAS to take so many tough shots that is his problem.

Jordan had an unstoppable midrange game in his later years. Still putting up 30PPG at great efficiency (Kobe has never even sniffed 50% shooting percentage).

Jordan was a master of creating space for an open jumper, even with someone right up in his grill.

SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY,JUST STOP IT.
It's obviously clear you're a kobe stan. You're not a WADE FAN AT ALL.Lose the Wade pic.

MJ was and is clearly better than KOBE,especially in the midrange, and so is BOSH,Dirk,Malone,Duncan.
And the fact that MJ started at 20 and Kobe at 17 could play a fact in Kobe shooting better in his 17th season, and MJ was not a one dimensional scorer.Though I expect laker-KOBE FANS to say he was better and try to prop up kobe and drop mj.ESPN IS LAKER-KOBE country.

Greatest Mid-Range Scorer of All Time. This is obvious.

http://www.basketballphoto.com/Photos/Karl%20Malone%2032731.jpg

36,928 points scored in his career (2nd All Time) Yes more points then MJ by MORE then 4,000. And the only placed he scored was mid range from his patented fade away and pick n-roll with Stockton. This is a NO BRAINER.

In before Round Mound posts that Barkley was a better shooter.

Micku

He also said and thinks Melo is a top 10 pure scorer or top 20 ever.

He said Kobe midrange is great because of the tough shots he made. But he ignores that Kobe put himself in those tough shots. We can actually check the stats, and I would say Dirk is the best midrange guy statistically. Going forward, it'll be Durant in the future.

He also said that he would take Kobe 17th season over Jordan's 15th, but he didn't say that Jordan was 40 years old and was retired for around three years. If Jordan didn't retire in his first and second time and played 15th seasons straight instead of retiring, then we wouldn't have this conversation because Jordan would continue were he left off. He might've won more MVPs and championship and scoring titles.

He also said if you look at Jordan in his 10th season, his FG% was going down. But he ignores that in his 11 and 12th season, Jordan FG% is still better than Kobe. Even as a 33-34 years old. By time Jordan was in his 13th season by the near end of it, he was already 35 years old.

So, I wouldn't say he is the best midrange shooter ever. You have a lot of guys in the 80s who didn't take 3s and shot midrange, and they got a 50% or more FG. And Jordan is better with it than Kobe, especially in his prime in the early 90s.
