Hes been playing great man to man defense recently. I don't think there is anyone better in the league at it. Hes so ridiculously nimble, with insane length and overall speed and size.

Bron is a hard defender, but he does a great job of keeping his body in front of his player.

Is there actually any evidence that the reason for this is anything other than a little good luck (i.e., not being in a position where you have to foul) and a lot of good, smart play?

Can anyone find a clip of him not playing defense right to keep up the streak, or him committing a foul and not getting called for it?

Or are we just wasting our time here?

The following players have reputations for being, at worst, solid defenders, play over 30 minutes a night, and average fewer fouls per game than Lebron (1.5) this season.

Tayshaun Prince 1.0
Andrei Kirilenko 1.1
Luol Deng 1.3
Shawn Marion 1.4

Durant is being praised for his improved defense and is only averaging 1.6 fpg. That's just 0.1 more than Lebron. Other noted solid to good defenders such as Iggy, Batum, and Afflalo, are averaging 1.6, 1.8, and 1.9 fpg respectively in over 30 minutes of playing time per night also.

What is actually more surprising to me is the paucity of free throws Lebron is attempting per game this season. In the past 20 years only Joe Johnson and Ray Allen (http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/psl_finder.cgi?request=1&match=single&type=per_game&per_minute_base=36&lg_id=NBA&is_playoffs=N&year_min=&year_max=&franch_id=&season_start=1&season_end=-1&age_min=0&age_max=99&height_min=0&height_max=99&birth_country_is=Y&birth_country=&is_active=&is_hof=&is_as=&as_comp=gt&as_val=0&pos_is_g=Y&pos_is_gf=Y&pos_is_f=Y&pos_is_fg=Y&pos_is_fc=Y&pos_is_c=Y&pos_is_cf=Y&qual=&c1stat=pts_per_g&c1comp=gt&c1val=25&c2stat=fta_per_g&c2comp=lt&c2val=6&c3stat=&c3comp=gt&c3val=&c4stat=&c4comp=gt&c4val=&c5stat=&c5comp=gt&c6mult=1.0&c6stat=&order_by=pts_per_g) have avg. at least 25ppg while averaging fewer free throw attempts per game than Lebron is this season. It's as if he's getting fouled a lot less than normal. I haven't watched that many Heat games this season. Is his physical play and aggressiveness on both sides of the ball different than it was in the past? Has he changed his game?

He's not attacking the rim as much as he used to. His midrange game is also slowly getting better and better and he's not getting fouled as much cuz he was never known to be a serious threat with his midrange jumpers, floaters, jump hooks,...

**** some evidence..Even the best defenders like AI, Paul George, Tony Allen, etc, etc, get called for fouls every once in a while even if its for just fighting through screens, blocking out guys on rebounds, or trying to keep a man out of a post position. Hell, not even a charge and I'm sure he's gotten blocking calls that could have been called charges just like any other player. All this probability and the man has not been called for a foul. He guard every position, pressures guys at half court, guards guys in the post, guards guys off screens and oh yeah, he also has the ball the majority of the time and not 1 offensive foul. Yeah, it seems pretty legit...

This was the only play in the whole game tonight where he even put the refs in an opportunity to blow the whistle. They overlooked that one, but besides that, the refs didn't have any decisions to make on fouls for LeBron. Refs should get only get 9/10ths the pay they get to ref LeBrons games because they don't have to worry about calling fouls on him.

I can't be bothered adding it up, but on a look basis, it seems to be somewhere from 32-36 minutes a game.

In fact, for the month of November, AK47 averaged 1.2 fouls a game. In December hes averaging only 1fpg. 1.1fpg for the season so far.

Impossible right? Since AK is such a physical defender... Not really. Its just brought up only because its Lebron.

LBJ called for 0 fouls in 5 games.

You say that Kirilenko was called for 2 fouls each in two separate 5 game stretches.

I say that doesn't help your argument because he was still called for fouls in that span of games.

You now use single game sample for Kirilenko to defend LBJ's foul-less 5 game stretch.

You're laboring under a misconception.

I find it infinitely entertaining watching drooling LeRef stans try to rationalize away the reality of how grossly favored by the refs he actually is.

Where did I say that wasn't a foul? You're bringing up irrelevant shit. :oldlol:

Even that play, Durant shouldn't be in the ball game, and should be sitting with his 6th foul when he charged into Battier about 2 minutes earlier. Its karma working beautifully.

Lebron isn't the player ESPN/Nba refs have made him up to be. This isn't the first time some ridiculous advantage has happened for him. Prior to the game against Boston in the playoffs last year, he has never fouled out of a game. I'll always remember that when I get older and teach all of the youngings. He doesn't have to work as hard because he's already got the refs in his pocket and guys at ESPN in his jockstrap.

Kobe made huge clutch shots last night, but you wouldn't know it by logging into ESPN.com. It's always Lebron watch, mvp, etc crap. Frankly, I'm sick of it. What Kobe's doing at his age isn't getting enough praise. It's like these news media outlets don't even try to hide it anymore, they're all clearly on Lebron's nuts and trying to shove him down our throats. I'm no sheep though.

Everyone aside from Heat fans knows that series was rigged. Game 1 and 2 clearly showed it. ISH crashed after game 1 when hundreds of threads spawned about how obviously biased the officiating was for the Heat. Only Lebron/Heat fans will pretend that never happened.

Those words describe Kobe than any player in the history of the NBA.

Hell, it all started on draft night. How many 13th overall selection get to call their own shots by refusing to play for a team?

Given more credit than deserved when he wasn't even the main star on his own team.

It is very clear you don't watch any of his games. If you did, you would see that he doesn't put himself in position to foul. Never puts himself in a situation to let a ref decide the outcome of a play. During this stretch of foul-less games he has had a game of 4 blocks, so he is playing solid defense.

Please, in this stretch of 6 games, show me a video where he should have had a call made against him.
Off the top of my head, there was only one debatable no call, which was at the end of a quarter where it looked like he could have been called for a charge, but besides that, clean basketball.

OP's avy says 0.5 rings. I say -0.5. Do the math. In 2011 single-handedly denied the stacked Heat a ring, thats a -1. Then gets 1 with a * in a shortened season carried by refs, that only counts for half a ring.

So: -1 + 0.5 = -0.5

Modify your avy for accuracy.

This whole situation reminds me of game 1 and game 2 Celtics-Heat ECF last season. Refs continually screw Boston with call after call after call. There was a huge upcry from basketball fans around the world. Hollinger called out the integrity of the league and only then did they start to try to fairly officiate the rest of the games, unfortunately for Boston fans.

My prediction: Lebron will get called for more fouls in the next few games to mask his total foul per game numbers for those who don't pay attention.
