Possibly? :confusedshrug:

If he worked out with Karl Malone no doubt... :D (Only on occasion no one stops Shaq lol. But LeBron is a man eater on defense)

Lebron could try and front him/box him to try and deny him the ball like he does very well when defending Centers kindof like when he defended Dwight or Gasol (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AV3O94yv4vc) and maybe try draw some foul on Shaq... but once Shaq gets that ball its pretty much over for any human on earth standing there next to him....

According to all or many coaches, players and analysts yes he can guard 1-5, because he has and does that often, 5s the least efficiently (depends on who that C is and he does it for short stretches anyways)... but the topic here is can he guard Shaq... efficiently? Hell no... would love for you to show me one "Lebron stan" on this planet earth who said that Lebron could guard Shaq and do so efficiently...

No chance. Lebron doesn't even guard centers in this era which has been the (for lack of a better word) weakest for bigs in a long time.

Could Shaq guard Jordan on the perimiter? Both have about as good of a chance to be effective... LeBron can guard most C's today, but that's because they suck, not because he could guard the best C's of all time.

You Need Players With Strong Legs and Lower Torsos to Guard Shaq.

Correction: He can front big guys and try to deny them the entry pass, otherwise he can not guard big men very well.

Well most "Centers" now a days are power forwards masquerading as centers. And he can front Pau Gasol, because well a 2 year old could deny Gasol from getting an entry pass.

Just look at Shaq and Lebron standing next to each other and picture Lebron trying to stop Shaq from getting deep position.

http://atthebox.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/shaq-and-lebron.jpg

Lebron would be giving up at least 6 inches and 75 pounds to prime Shaq. No amount of double teams in the world could stop Shaq from getting a 40/20 game with Lebron guarding him.

lol

Jordan at 6'5-6'6 came of 2 defenders with a simple spinoff layup getting met by Shaq, he didnt really have a clear runway to launch his supposed 48" vertical leap.... i am talking about 1 on 1 here for example... there is not anything Shaq could do defensively against a prime Jordan (or Lebron) at all, not even stand under the rim and try block his dunking facials (to much space to launch themselves very high in the air)... defensively Jordan was ridicilously smart & quick, he would be able to be pesky, but Shaq would kill him aswell... gets to a mute point to what the outcome of a 1on1 game would be...

Lebron is closer to 6'9-260.... stronger, bigger than Jordan... he would therefore logically be able to do a better job defensively on Shaq than Jordan.... and maybe a better job guarding Shaq than what Shaq could guard him (please dont think i mean anything else).... overall Shaq would destroy Lebron (or anybody) defensively.... but to be fair, Lebron would be just as unguardable to Shaq (or maybe even more unguardable)...

Yea and thing with Shaq is not that it was as simple as he was tall and had weight.... its that he was a freak of nature, he could move, jump, outpower, explode etc. like NOBODY ever at that size, it was just inhumane... NOBODY could guard Shaq effectively...

Rodman was only about 210-218 pounds and slightly shorter than LeBron. I thought he did a good job of getting Shaq out of his comfort areas. There were a couple of times where he had trouble backing him down. He didn't guard him much, but when he did, he did a good job from the games that I watched.

LeBron isn't Rodman tho.

Thread concieved to disprove LeBron being able to guard all positions, which most basketball fans know is ridiculous.

LeBron can be somewhat effective on smaller 4s for a couple posessions but he obviously can't guard prime Shaq.

this.

i was shocked he got called for multiple fouls against okc (3???!) c'mon refs, dont you know hand is part of the ball? cant believe they called that a foul on his rejection of ibaka smh. in my opinion, he has not committed a foul this year so i find that he has been called for 35 of them is an outrage and it shows that the refs have been biased against him. the refs dont call anything against the heat opponents, but have called him for one 35 times. david stern has fixed this season so miami cannot win. they are so good they win 8 against 5 so often.

please realize i am kidding LOL

Bron aint tough enough.

Shaq wears you down both physically and mentally, I doubt Bron can sustain the consistent pounding he'd take from Shaq. He may keep him off the paint for a possession or two, but even if he touched the ball outside the paint, he'd still put pressure on you.

Rodman was just tough (just like most old school players), he could handle it.

In 96, Shaq is already well on his way to being the most dominant force in the league close to his prime. Rodman did well guarding him but no one can really guard Shaq effectively in his prime one on one not Rodman and certainly not Lebron. Lebron's defense is great all around but overrated.

Put Lebron on Shaq with no help in a series and Diesel averages 45 PPG and 15 RPG on 60% shooting. No disrespect to Lebron who is a fantastic, versatile defender. But come on. DPOY of the year Dikembe Mutumbo, who is a bonafide 7'+ center couldn't do shit against Shaq w/ help defense.

Nobody could stop Shaq. Against a prime Hakeem in the 95 finals, Shaq averaged 28 pts 12 rebs 6 assts, even though Shaq himself got outplayed (a testament to Hakeem's greatness.)

Yeah, and that's very subpar for Shaq in the finals. That's about as 'effective' as any one/team could be against prime Shaq... and that was his second year in the league. Dude put up 38 PPG and 16.7 BPG 2.7 BPG on 61% FG in one series facing double and triple teams, hack-a-shaq, etc

Bron can guard 1 - 5 ... the 5 spot depending on who is playing, and sporadically in short bursts at best, in the post 2008 era where the center position has all but vanished.

He can outmuscle weak soft Euros like Paula Gasoft (2012)

But this thread is beyond retarded. You think 6'8 LeBron can guard 7'1 Shaq? Riiight.
