What is it with this guy and the number 47?

His last tweet was made at 11: 59 on 12-23-12. 12+23+12 = 47.

He has a shitload of other references to the number in his lyrics and in "Talking Shit"'s song art, which he dropped on April 7.

lettuce be reality it's insane that any of you know who this guy is other than ace. he is the most obscure internet rapper imaginable. when lil phat died there was no thread or posts on it here and he was on a top 10 hit less than 5 years ago.

He's not obscure at all. Pro Era has been on the come up for some time now, and i'd argue he was the best lyricist in that group. Joey Bada$$ is the face and the initial reason i began checking out Pro Era, but once i heard STEEZ he instantly became my favorite member of the group. It is a great tragedy as he all the ability in the world to be a great rapper.

I want to ask why he did it, but i don't know if we'll ever know.

I've been listening to the latest mixtape "PEEP" all day today, and it has been awesome. I didn't even realize it came out a couple days ago. Definitely my favorite album/mixtape from the Pro Era camp.

I don't know about him musically but to me one of the saddest things about a kid his age committing suicide is that they don't fully know what it is they're giving up. They don't realize that whatever problem drove them to this drastic action has a solution, they don't see the whole world outside of their internal drama. It's like they never gave life a proper chance.

Damn, I'm stunned by this. This sucks man. R.I.P. :(

Joey Bada$$, and Pro Era crew were the best things to happen in hip-hop in 2012 imho. Joey's "1999" is the mixtape of the year.

I just downloaded their new mixtape the other day, but I haven't listed to it yet. I still gotta check out the Capital Steez mixtape too. It'll be a depressing listen.

This thread is one more example of Al Thornton's elitist douchebaggery. Trying to derail a simple thread about a tragedy with his hip hop snob shit.

This is very sad news. 19 is too young. R.I.P.

emsteez forreal

i can't discuss his music in the thread about him because he killed himself? smh

it's sad news, but he wasn't significant in rap and someone who was significant in rap died this year and there wasn't a thread or any discussion on it.

you are REALLY surprising me with your opinions on him and pro era in this thread right now.. have you ever listened to 1999? i know me and you have very similar tastes, so i'm pretty shocked.

he reminds u of nas because he tried to recreate that style and sound, instead of being original. which shows a clear lack of talent.

 lol.. he doesn't sound exactly like nas, he's just bringing back the boom-bap style from 90's east coast and doing it his own way.. you need to listen to 1999 all the way through and just listen. do you hate action bronson too?

joey bada$$ is pretty big here in nyc
imo joey bada$$ sounds more like buckshot than nas
he isn't really that good and neither is the rest of his pro era crew
children of the night, bryant dope, flatbush zombies, and the underachievers are way better nyc rappers than joey bada$$ and pro era
i also like vinny cha$e but no one listens to him :(
asap rocky sucks now and jacked off lil b, main attrakionz + bone thugs and ugk and every rapper you can think of. liveloveasap was a one time thing and he still continues to come out with the same shit
cam'ron is coming back hard in 2013 tho

The Underachievers are pretty good, but i feel like STEEZ was the diamond in the rough for Pro Era. I grew tire of Bada$$ pretty fast, but then i heard "Free The Robots" and started listening to most by him and realize how much i preferred him over Bada$$.

i can't remember any time i really enjoyed ny rap since cam'ron and max b.

children of the night from queens have some boom bap sounding songs but they sound modern unlike pro crew. i think they're the best coming out of ny right now.

children of the night - subway series (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enWz_bCLfm0)

and i think i'm the only one who enjoys vinny cha$e but w/e sounds better than most ny shit. he's from harlem and better than asap rocky.

vinny cha$e - boost the sales (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zzP697sYXo)

flatbush zombies and the underachievers are dope of course ;/

phony ppl is another group from brooklyn that's better than pro era

ive barely heard any joey badass, that name alone is one of the least appealing things ever. im sure his music is fine, just like action bronson's is fine. but it doesn't need to exist. ghostface killah has a lot of great music you can listen to anytime you want and is still releasing shit, so why would i want to hear action bronson?

other than french there hasn't been another rapper to come out of new york in the past 5 years who is attempting to be modern or original at all. most are making 90s boom bap shit. theres one who is recreating def jux, theres one who is biting literally every style that didn't come from new york and has become extremely successful doing it.

i wouldn't care if those guys existed if there was actual talent to listen to. those nostalgia artists are what receive all the attention and get hyped up all day. it's gross.

i know what you mean, names in hip-hop today kinda suck. far removed from the days of names like grandmaster flash, KRS one and big daddy kane.
but just the fact that you think action bronson and joey are untalented is crazy.. if you're waiting for someone to come out with something "new" all the time then you're outta luck. the rappers of today are influenced by the rappers of yesterday so we'll naturally have people come out who sound the same. are you familiar with the cool kids?

I'm not feeling Action Bronson either. Not because he sucks, but the dude sounds EXACTLY like Ghost. I can't shake that. Even if he's original in his own way, it still feels like a copy.

Hard to feel sorry fr somebody who commits suicide.

Why? One thing we'll never know is whether death is really something to avoid or run from. Who is to say, despite its pleasure, the state we are in, the one we call living, isn't actually the lowest state of existence. Some like to think suicide is selfish, and maybe so, i can understand that sentiment, but i also can see how people told you need to live is selfish on the part of our society. We know nothing of death, yet we fear it, dread it, and believe it to be bad. :confusedshrug:

In the immortal words of Sam Cooke

It's been too hard living but I'm afraid to die 'Cause I don't know what's up there beyond the sky It's been a long, a long time coming But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will

you cant tell me that that shit is creative. nostalgia rap has it's place but many posters on this forum listen exclusively to it. theres a lot of great modern rap.
What isn't creative about that? Sure, the beat sounds like every other Premier beat, but that's not a bad thing in my opinion. He's got a hot flow, and lyrics are definitely above average. He's not the next big thing, but he is a good musician. I feel you're blinded by your own personal opinions to give music like this a chance.

And Bronson is not biting Ghost by any means at all. They have an eerily similar voice (too similar maybe), but his style, flow and lyrical content couldn't be more different than Ghost. There is no way you can tell me Bronson ain't creative.

read this last week, i thought an interesting part of the article was when it mentioned how steez watched 'spirit science', a series on youtube about.. well, spirit science. i'd also encourage anyone who's not familiar with the subject to watch the series with an open mind.
