What you put into your body (especially as you age) has a lot to do with how you perform.

In a recent interview w/ ESPN I found it interesting to note that Kobe, prior to this season ate whatever he wanted, and now is concentrating on his diet more.

His previous pre-game meal, such as the one he ate before dropping an 81 point bomb on old ass Jalen Rose and Morris Peterson? Peperoni Pizza and GRAPE SODA

I know LeBron has said before that he eats chicken tenders and fries before every game.

MJ used to eat steak and mashed potatoes. Anyone know of other ritualistic pre game meals of players?

Obviously David LeeGIT eats a fine lady's [()] before every game, but I'm talking other players? What did some of you eat before pre game meals if you played in HS or college?

I was a spaghetti guy for the carbs.

I find it fascinating that such great athletes (well because they are such physical specimens they get away with it) can in some cases eat and fuel their body so poorly with fatty, high sugar foods and still perform at a really high level.

I don't know if that is true. I remember a post game interview with him about 09/10 where he said he had to stop eating what he wanted and change his diet. No more McDonalds specifically.

That's all you got out of the post? MJ didn't need to drop 81. He saved his high scoring games and ridiculous performances for meaningful comp in the playoffs and Finals.

See the 8x fifty + point playoff games. I mean hell, David Robinson scored 71 in a game when he attempted to do it against CRAP competition similar to the atrocious 2006 Raptors. And you don't think MJ could? Let alone in a rule changed season that saw a dramatic upswing in perimeter PPG numbers?

Child please. Try again.

Meanwhile back at the sizzler, the topic at hand, which I find very interesting ... seems others, not so much.

Grape soda.

Grape juice is actually a respectable somewhat healthy option. Welch's 100% is the $hit.

It really wasn't about that at all ...

eliteballer caught feelings. I merely responded.

Thread is about pre-game dinners for elite athletes being the same greasy, nasty stuff you and I eat on the daily.

Body building is over compensation for small =D

Fact.

Eating super healthy is expensive, and at times boring. Got to treat yourself once in awhile.

What do you eat like regularly? Give me some examples, bruh.

I know right, what's the use for popcorn muscles anyway? I'm not going to the WWE.

I'm all about being toned, streamlined, and able to actually run and do cardio. Plus, short stubby muscle arms that can't lift above my shoulders doesn't allow me to play bball (which is fun and keeps me young, and viral)

What? Vegetables, chicken, brown rice, and fruits are cheap dude.

Take out, packaged foods, and frozen meals are way more expensive. Not to mention any snack or dessert tends to more expensive relative to regular food.

I'm not saying I am excessively strict, but I save more money when I eat healthier.

That's eating the same healthy food but wasting a bunch of money on bullshit marketing. That's completely different.

No it's not...who's going to eat those 4 things for EVERY MEAL, and everything else is loaded with preservatives and artificial stuff.....even stuff like peanut butter, juice, salsa, bread, etc. Stuff you wouldn't put in your body if you ate it in it's natural form.

I didn't say to eat those four things every meal. Read what I'm saying: eating healthy is cheaper than eating unhealthy.

That's generally the case. I don't get it. Do you disagree?

that depends. a lot of the grains and vegetables sold at major super markets are genetically engineered foods created by Monsanto and not exactly healthy for you.

Well, I DO agree that eating chicken, veggies, fruits, etc from the regular supermarket IS healthier and cheaper than eating Mickey D's and pizza...but as to whether it's healthy when you consider everything that goes into it(pesticides, how the animals are raised, hormones, living conditions etc.) it's more complicated.

Try a tomato raised from a garden and one from the supermarket and see how different they taste....

I remember reading years ago that Darrell Armstrong used to eat Skittles and have coffee with a ton of sugar in it before games. Can only imagine the crash he'd be having post-game.

Do you know how to cook? I can't wait till next year since I'll have my own apartment, be able to cook for myself (student dorm atm), and not spend so much damn money eating out. If you know how to shop for groceries (as in the right stores for certain ingredients, when to buy them, etc.), cooking your own meals would be way cheaper than eating out.

Besides, not only are you saving money now, you'll avoid a lot of potential health problems down the road, AND you'll be able to make meals that blow outside junk out of the water with a couple years' experience. Helps entertain friends, ladies...

Cooking's awesome.

I generally do most of my fruit, veg and meat shopping at the farmers market. Usually better quality stuff without all the crap they use in the supermarket food. Plus the butcher I go to has tasty stuff like buffalo and wild venison that they don't sell elsewhere.

Do you eat kangaroo?

I hear that stuff is delicious with a powerful nutritious profile.

Occasionally. I like it better done on a BBQ, so I usually eat it when I do one of those. It is very tasty, although there's still plenty of people who won't eat it due to them liking Kangaroo's. It's supposed to be very high in protein and iron, while lower in fat when compared with beef and other read meats.
