Kobe is far more popular in the world, lebron is more well known in the US. Well might not even say he is more well known in the US, just more relevant due to his polarity. He's loved or hated, there is no in between whereas some people are neutral towards Kobe.

It'll be a ****ing disgrace if Lin starts.

Add to that, I hate the talking heads in ESPN saying they're fine with Lin starting because "that's who the fans want to see". And then 5 minutes later use all star appearances as a barometer for a player's legacy and greatness and not even bat an eyelash.

It's already bad enough that Dwight Howard will get in over Tim Duncan and Marc Gasol.

This might be off base, but I actually think Harden's vote total is getting inflated due to playing with Lin. I know previously guys like Battier would get higher than expected all-star votes due to playing with Yao.

Mr. NBA
01-03-2013, 08:16 PM
What the hell!? Stupid all star voting, Lu Deng is behind Amare and Bynum despite being the heart of the team while D Rose is out. This is ridiculous. Lin will somehow get into the game since its in Houston. At least the NBA Allstar game doesnt determine homecourt like MLB. It might be a good idea to do so but the voting will have to change.

Real Men Wear Green

All-NBA is where they reward the best for being the best. The fan vote exists because the ASG is a fan exhibition. "Purists" would be well-advised to internalize the fact that it's not important.

Followed by abolishing the whole weekend, if you are going to have a irrelevent game at least get the most deserving players in there for god sakes. When its both irrevelent and you got people in there who don't deserve it, thats a problem.

Then maybe NBA teams should stop offering bonuses in contracts for All-Star appearances. And announcers and analysts should stop using the phrase "X time All-Star" as some type of ranking. Might as well just say, "has 6 commercials and lots of asian fans".

He should fake an injury right before all star weekend.
Or in an alternative reality Lin walk on the stage as a starter over CP3, and get even more hate and bigger target on his back. Every game, every pg want blood from him. Its do or die every match.

If he starts over CP3, Vinny is the Coach, do you think he will get sub out the first dead ball and sit on the bench the entire game. maybe even make someone foul like 1 sec after tip ball.

Prob some fan will hate Vinny and shot him later in the parking lot?

And as a devoted Christian he feel he is responsible for this tragedy and then forfeit his contract and go on life as a Priest and social worker?

Man hope we don't live in that reality.

95% of players voted by the fans deserve to be at the game anyway. The last players who didn't deserve to start were Iverson (from Detroit, lol) and Yao Ming that time he didn't play one game.

Chinese can invade the world if they wanted, theres just too many of them

They already have if you haven;t noticed. They are everywhere.

It's time to change with the times. Not that the coaches do a whole better but why not let the coaches, executives, media, players or whoever vote for the all stars and than let the fans vote for the starters from that? With the internet, twitter, SMS, etc. there is no reason they couldn't nowadays. Lin being an all-star just because he's Chinese is ridiculous.

I wish that they would cancel the all star games. Or they could just call it, the American NBA Idol game. And have an asterisk that say players voted in don't reflect entirely on individual performance but their appearance is based on fan voting, popularity, and reputation. This is a means of entertaining the league, not actually a result of who has or doesn't have the best individual performance. Results may very.

Why are people so bothered by this? The point isn't to have the best 5 of each conference on the court.

The fans vote who they want to see the most, so why not put those players on the court? Who cares? Personally, I think it makes for a more interesting game anyway.

Actually, that would be correct also.

I remember it was either 08-09 or 09-10... Yao Ming's teammates were getting more all-star votes as well (Aaron Brooks was getting more all-star votes than more deserving PG's). And yeah, your right about Battier, hell he's even getting more votes than he should actually get right now...

Harden, from a productive standpoint, obviously deserves it more. Hopefully, the coaches get him.
